She enjoyed getting away, when she could manage it. Sneaking up to the roof with a bottle of "water" and a pack of cigarettes hidden in her jacket, Leif sat with her legs dangling and hummed a merry tune to herself. What a long goddamn day it had been. And here he was, not tired enough to sleep, not knowing what else to do. Not knowing what to think. The roof was a bit of a cliché spot for getting away, but it worked well enough for its purposes, and so up he went. Trying not to think about last time he was up here. At least the night's air on his face would feel nice. He hadn't expected someone to be sitting at his usual spot, though. Just sitting there, legs dangling off the edge - bit dangerous, wasn't that? Well, whatever, not his business. If they fell, his powers were stronger at night, so he could catch them easily. Aaron would walk up, and take a spot a little bit away, so as not to get in the way. Gave her a nod. Made sure he wasn't downwind when she lit up that cigarette. No judgment on smokers. He just didn't want to breathe the stuff. He would sit there quietly for a moment, part to see if she'd say anything, part to have the company of his own mind. Finally, though, he'd offer a few quiet words. "Sorry if I'm disturbing you. Well, offering a water bottle out of the blue wasn't expected, but it was nice. Even if she made it sound like it wasn't exactly water, in there. ...Oh, what the hell. He could use it. Aaron would gently, politely take the bottle from her hands, raise it to his lips, and take a drink. And then try valiantly not to cough as the burning sensation hit him. He'd never had... whatever this was in this bottle, but it kicked like a draught horse. The heat was nice, though. It shut out the winter air, and the coldness in his gut. He'd given it back, and almost as soon as he had it was put in his hand again. How could she drink this stuff so fast? Still, don't be rude. He took another swig, bracing himself for the kick. Once he'd taken the sip, he would hand it back to her. "Long day for you too, then? Or just like the view up here?" His power over it wasn't as extensive as his mother's, but the darkness was still his domain, and he could actually see pretty well up here. Darkness was like a favourite blanket or coat, to him. Not that he'd have any idea what was funny about it, if she said. "That's pretty cool," he offered, not reaching out to take the bottle since she didn't offer him a turn. And because he wasn't sure he wanted another kick to the throat from that stuff. "This place has people from all over. One of the things I like about it, all the different sorts it draws."
