"I know the gist, I just couldn't remember the extent. It's been a long month and I might be going to my death in a few days, give me a break."
He blinks, pauses, sighs.
"...Sorry. I shouldn't get short with you. I've wanted to try a few things with my power like what you can do with yours - I figure we spar, then see if I can learn some of your tricks?"
"We can see, but I know I'm trying to make my shields and constructs stronger. I've tried a few things," and there he'd cover his fists in hardened shadows like he's wearing gauntlets, to demonstrate, "but haven't done too much with actual weapons and stuff."
Aaron stepped off the wall and extended a hand, bringing up a large portion of his own shadow and extending and solidifying it! He was trying to learn the trick, shaping the shadows in his hand until they took the form of a baseball bat. Then he took a few practise swings, getting used to the "weight" and movement.
Aaron would step forwards and raise his "bat" in a simple block, to knock Mike's bat aside! Then he raised his free hand and fired a large shadow blast almost point blank from his palm, aiming to send his podmate flying backwards!
These things had knocked Mr. Amtrum around before, so he figured it would do the trick on Mike. Without hurting him too badly, of course.
He'd knock the bat aside and the blast would hit him right in the chest sending him back! However his other hand lashed forward, a whip forming of energy to coil around Aaron's neck and pull him with Mike as he was blasted back!
With the bat wrapped and being pulled, Aaron took a step forwards to balance himself and... let it go, the bat flying off in the whip's grip before suddenly shooting out towards Mike's face!
It was more a diversionary tactic than an actual attack, as when Mike lifted his leg for the kick, Aaron would make his own shadow shoot up to try picking him up and slamming him to the ground!
He would be careful not to dump Mike on his head or anything, though.
The whip vanished when he let go of the bat and the shadow shot was able to knock Mike back on the ground. However as he fell backward his left hand swung out with a staff materializing in his previously empty hand for Aaron's head.
Staves generally weren't meant to be swung single-hand, which, combined with Mike falling, would slow down the swing enough for Aaron to see it and duck. It was close, though, skimming right through where his head had been a moment before.
To be sporting, though, Aaron didn't take advantage of the opportunity once Mike was on the ground. Still looking at him, he took several steps back so Mike would have to close the distance once he got up, and formed and solidified two constructs from his shadow, concentrating on making them as solid as Mike's weapons. A round shield on his left arm, and a flanged mace in his right hand.
All those art classes had to be good for something, right?
