"Within the week," she murmured, not bothering to look away from the sky. "Got maybe tonight and tomorrow night, if I'm unlucky. Four or five nights if I am lucky. Plan is for day after tomorrow."
She sat up and turned, going to place another soft kiss upon his lips before falling back with a thump.
"On that note, though. I probably need to bounce soon. I'm going to try and chill here for a little while before going and getting something to eat. You gonna be okay?"
This time when she leaned up and pressed another kiss upon his lips he'd lean into it and place a hand upon her cheek. Trying to take her advice and enjoy himself more.
Before she could fall back and speak, he caught her. She fell silent for a moment, letting him touch her cheek and get used to the feel before she raised an arm, lightly cradling his shoulders and holding herself against him.
Quite fast. As he'd push her back down to the grass, still locked in the kiss, using his free arm to press against the grass to keep himself from toppling on top of her.
She made a soft noise, mostly surprise, and let him push her back into the grass. Her fingers both trailed lightly along his cheeks, letting him lead her. Which was a nice surprise.
He'd press his lips together and slowly nod, unsure of where to go from here. He hadn't thought this through, and now he was thinking and this felt awkward.
At least he was laughing. It made her laugh. And feel like a fool... The good kind, of course. The kind that could have fun without hallucinations and mind altering intoxication. The kind that could have fun right before a war.
