They had just dropped Matt off at the infirmary and had been kicked out by the doctors while they tended to him. Eric, still wide eyed and covered in blood leaned against the wall and just stared off into space.
Having just delivered Matt to the infirmary with Eric, Miranda was still in the dark about what had happened, other than something bad. The other junior agent was one she'd not met before, and looked as bad as when she'd found him, kind of like he was going to be sick.
That sounded as great as a snail with a broken shell.
"Don't get what?" Maybe if she can get him talking, she can help him focus on something other the fact that that he's covered in blood. He needs to get out of the infirmary, but she wonders if he would go without word on the other agent.
She recalled the robot in question, but didn't pretend to know what all the regular bots looked like at Paradigm; she'd only seen the one in her assessment. Sadly, the fresh blood is easier for her to deal with than the smell of charbroiled human.
"Okay." Her voice is calm as she holds up her hands, palms outward towards Eric. "So you summoned a robot and it knew your name. What normally happens when you use your portals?"
"You didn't summon it," she clarifies, agreeing with a small nod. She doesn't reach out to touch him or come closer, not like he is now. "Something unexpected happened, and the robot was part of it. The two of you were working together, it was stopped, and you called for backup, right?
"You got him help, and got him here. He's in good hands."
The automatic response is that the other agent was trying to protect him, but Miranda doesn't want to add any more guilt to the guy's situation.
"That's something you can ask him when he wakes up." When, not if. After a second, she steps forward and gives the stranger a hug. He just looked so lost.
"You did good, alright? You got help. You thought about it in a scary situation. I'm sure he'll tell you that himself."
"It's fine." She gives him a reassuring smile thought even looking down, giving his shoulder a gentle pat.
"Did you want to go get cleaned up? The bathrooms aren't far if you don't want to go all the way to your pod. I can stay here if there's any news while you're gone."
It sounded like a lot of this would have been cool if not for the bloody ending. She lays a hand over his left one in quiet support, picking up where he left off as she looks at the Director. You don't stay quiet when asked something by someone who looks that official.
"I heard the call over the comms and came to see what was wrong. He mentioned regeneration, so I used my power to make sure the wound was closed before we moved him here."
