He doesn't really think Silas will tell him once he got what he wanted. So Valo removes the gun and holds it out for Silas, but he also holds out his other hand.
"Trade and examine."
Changing the terms twice in like ten seconds? That's Valo.
Valo carefully takes the disc, avoiding the edges, and hands Silas the gun. He looks for any indicators of where it can be dismantled so he can find out exactly how it functions, seeing as he doesn't know it electrocutes.
"Don't point it at your eye," he says almost absentmindedly.
Silas rolls his eyes as he does the same! He looks to see how it works and what it does!
Valo can see that it's not actually one piece as it looks, but two metal halves twisted and snapped into place. He can take it apart and see it's rather simple, a small battery source connected to give a high voltage shock equivalent to a taser, but in shuriken form.
He takes it apart, and stares at the source, then looks for any sort of "off-switch." He was totally expecting, and hoping for, something a little more advanced than that, but with it being as simple as it is he remembers it for later.
If he can't find one, he'll hand it back to Silas.
"Flashy."
Silas finds heat-sensitive plating where the gun goes over the forearm, and directly above it is a chamber filled with beads of water, with a band inside that's connected to a button on the handle. In front of the chamber is a small hole where it looks like they're fired from. Essentially, it's a water gun.
He doesn't disengage it, but he makes plenty of mental notes.
"No need to be complex if basic design fits your needs," he shrugs. "Besides, mine is a toy. This?" Valo holds up the disc, still not touching the blades. "This is a little more serious. Got anything else like it?"
He tosses him a yellow one! This would be the same, though it's pressure sensitive. If he opened it too quickly the smoke would begin pouring out the same way it would if it clanged into anything with enough force as if thrown.
"You're an agent aren't you? You'll need more than toys."
"Not an agent. I'm a student. And if I wanted deadly, I could just change the shape of the cartridge and shoot spikes out."
He knows better than to pry anything like this apart too quickly. He doesn't want to get shocked or blown up or something. Even more mental notes, and once he's done he'll slowly put it back together and hand it back over.
"You got a fine brain in there. I'm assuming it was you who made these, and not mama or papa."
"Then it's a different kind of waste." Silas sneers.
He takes back his discs and hands back the wrist gun.
"Everything is of my own design or modification from my weapons and computer to my clothes."
He gestures to each, ending with a pull on his jacket lapels. It was his newest addition as he lined it with Kevlar, mostly in case Rebecca tries to rot through his clothes and murder him. Stopping some bullets and knives would be a good added benefit as well.
His own little play on Inspector Gadget and Calvin Klein that probably makes no sense.
"I build standard tech for everyday use, and have only dabbled in anything remotely combat- or power-oriented since I discovered my power. Besides, I don't need to go around making projectile tasers. You got that covered."
"Then why suggest I go the lethal route?" He frowns. "And if the challenge is all it's about, that's a bit of a waste as well. At least, in my opinion."
If his eye is good, Silas can see the material looks like something akin to welding blankets.
"You have the option to make things effective, but you choose to remove some of the effect for the sake of a challenge. Sacrificing practicality for, what personal satisfaction?"
"More potent power doesn't always result in the designated effect." He pulls out a red disk.
"Take this for example, it only contains a small portion of Semtex. More would result in a greater explosion, but may also result in my hip being blown off my body if I'm hit too hard." He puts it back.
"Yes the challenge provides personal satisfaction which is most important, but it's also the most logical. If I went for the most effective in lethal weapons at the best I would likely be forced from the academy."
"I think somewhere along the line, we probably both got a little mixed up in what was being said," Valo admits, since Silas isn't arguing what he intended. "But that's kind of why I didn't up the air pressure or put in spiked chambers - lethal isn't my intention."
He shrugs.
"Red disks - are they pressure-sensitive, got a timer, or what?"
"The timer is activated by pressure like the smoke shuriken, though it's typically set to a second or less delay. I can make it longer or shorter depending on how much I dial it up." He twists it back!
