Eric would wiggle his fingers to warm up before pointing to the side. The air in front of his finger would ripple and rip apart opening another hole in space. Just like it had thousands of times before throughout his life. This time he wasn't happy with the result.
"Dammit."
The portal would close and he would try it again. This time switching the direction that he opened the portal from in relation to him.
"Uh, basically the relationship of how my portals interact with space time. I'm trying to connect two points in prime space, but I keep missing the mark. I've never had it connect in Prime space."
Since normally he just pulled out objects, but with his and Eliott's trek drawing nearer he wanted to practice creating portals for travel.
"Kind of. The working theory I have is that time and space are not linear like we typically imagine. But are rather stacked on top of each other. And in between each layer are an infinite amount of sub layers representing possibility This is how we have other universes. So for instance there may be a universe where you're hair is a different color. Or a universe where you are an evil dictator."
He wasn't sure if she was following.
"So I'm trying to punch through the layers from our world here, to another part of our world here. Rather than simply opening up a portal to a possibility, or the Nexus. The Nexus would be the glue that holds the layers together. A world between worlds if you will."
"People can already go through one. I'm trying to practice keeping it on the same plane though. It's about knowing exactly where the portal is going to let out rather than a vague idea of what I want."
He'd extend his hand forward toward the main building. The space in front of him ripping and tearing into a hole in space. Another tear forming right behind him.
