"Yeah, you've drank about half as much as me. Sounds about right."
He would sigh.
"Evie....why are you here? Like...I've heard of people dying and shit. Sweet girl like you should take her gift and run....people like me? We belong at the front. Nobody..."
What could she say? She was a light weight. She didn't drink often and was tiny enough that just a bit of alcohol had her buzzed. It wasn't something she was ashamed of, obviously. She even giggled.
Yet, when he started speaking, she frowned. It looked like an expression she wasn't used to. She looked down at him and put a hand against his cheek, brushing her fingers along his skin.
"Don't talk like that."
It was the closest thing to an order she ever gave.
"I'm here because the world needs more good guys than bad guys, you know? I'm here because I want to help... I want to help people like me, and people like you. Because we aren't that different, you know?" Her smile was back, soft and kind upon her lips.
She brushed a stray hair from his face and murmured, "Besides. I'm here to help with situations like this. Remind everybody that we're all on the same team."
He looked up at her as her fingers touched his cheek, the alcohol clouding him a little. He wasn't used to people touching him in such a way. He would let out a little breath.
"I know we're on the same team....doesn't mean I have to get along with all my team mates. Look at Iron man and Captain America."
Yeah, he said it.
"Friends who give each other shit."
He would reach up and hold her hand against his face, letting out a slow breath.
"Are you trying to make me fall in love? Kuz this is how you make me fall in love."
He chuckled, another continued joke from earlier. He would let his hand shift over to scratch the stubble on his chin. He would keep watching her.
"And some people...have a little more good in them than others."
She giggled slightly at his joke, assuming that it was nothing more than a joke, and stretched her arms high above her head.
"I need a cigarette!" She suddenly proclaimed, the moment lost.
She didn't want to admit to feeling a bit uncomfortable thinking of herself as "good," necessarily. She wasn't good, she wasn't bad, she was just... Evie. Just Evie. And she was totally okay with that.
He sat up to let her stand. He didn't usually smoke so much so he would just lean back against the couch, taking a final chug of the whiskey (it was now half gone) before putting the top back on.
"Alright, well...thanks for playing and hanging out. I'm gonna start a movie if you feel like joining."
He would pop in "Waterworld", knowing most people think it a terrible movie but actually loving it. Then he would sit on the couch with a groan and kick back!
OOC: You can post once more if you want, then close it out!
She leapt off the couch to go and get her cigarette, smiling at BK.
Smoking on the campus alone gave her time to actually stop and think. She wanted to figure out what he said, and if it really meant anything at all. She knew a little bit about his father and wondered about him, honestly. Asking would just get her in trouble.
Finishing her cigarette, she went back inside to watch the movie with him. It only took her about ten minutes before she had fallen asleep, head on BK's shoulder.
He looked over at her, the redheads sleep sounds clearly reaching his ears. She was out cold. If he were a man of nefarious purpose, advantages could be taken. He didn't think about it in a way like "I could get away with it", but instead thought of it as "I'm gonna have to protect you."
Ken didn't make friends easy. People found him rough, like sandpaper. They didn't like his attitude, his callous nature, his arrogance...she seemed not only unaffected, but she acted as though she liked him. Maybe not romantically but as a good friend.
He rested his cheek on the top of her head.
"I'll keep an eye on you, girl, you better believe that."
