Does that count as an opinion? Probably, and Eliott was the one who'd jumped so far into the past to help Mark, so it's understandable.
That's touching, in a way. He's not sure he knows anyone who would throw themselves across time and space to get him out of a jam, or who would even cross the street. His parents don't count.
But then, it's not about him. Whatever his heart has been saying over the past days, it's never been about him. He didn't join Paradigm for himself, but for everyone else. And the people here, in this era so far removed from his own? They were as much "everyone else" as those back in his time. He can't just look at them as letters on a page in a dusty, bloody history book.
I almost wish I could.
"I'm going to grab a bit of air," he says, really for blind guy's benefit, before exiting the structure. He doesn't go where Eliott and Leif are, just takes in the air, the feeling of the camp around him. Stares into the sky and thinks.
"Because I jumped through time, worried sick about you! And when I find you you're just great! You're a native fucking chief and you're all oh hi, you guys finally found me after two months!" she yells, lip wobbling briefly until she presses her lips together and she takes in a deep breath.
"No, I didn't. Isn't that interesting?!" Eliott says, smirking a bit as Mark says precisely what she needed.
Her following words were directed at Leif the smirk fading into an annoyed frown.
"I opened the portal and I made a choice to jump through so I could come find Mark! Someone I care about! You clods all jumping in after me was YOUR choice! I didn't beg, ask, or even address any of you! So you and everyone else who's upset about being here can accept responsibility for your own actions!"
"I'm actually not upset about being here," Leif said with a shrug. "Part of the peril of being an agent, or whatever."
She took a drag of her cigarette and sighed.
"So he's why you came through? No wonder you're pissed. Look, guys, can we wait for your lovers spat until we get back? Hopefully without fucking history so far in the ass that we don't have a future to return to?"
Eliott's eyes would narrow at Leif's explanation, but accepted it as the girl's form of retreat. Good.
Mark's comment however would cause her cheeks to flush.
"You'd be happy to stay here as long as I was here?!"
She shakes her head. Nope. She's not doing this in front of someone else.
"Right. This gadget." she clears her throat, holding it up. "The last time I used it it was glowing. It hasn't done that since Mark and that woman disappeared and all my attempts to press the button have resulted in nothing."
To demonstrate she presses it a few times. Nothing happens.
"It's possible it only has one use but I don't understand why that woman would have it if she has something else she travels with."
