"Not really..." Nate limped over toward her, stopping just next to her. "This seat taken..?" He asked somberly. He was tired, and it was obvious by the way he spoke, and the almost complete lack of enthusiasm. That warm look however remained in his eyes. "How you doin..?" He asked almost impulsively.
Nate grinned at that for a moment, then his face fell when he realized how serious she was. "That. Sucks." He said rather sadly. "Anything I can do?" He asked plopping down another lilac popping up in her lap.
Nate nodded, he really didn't know, but he could almost empathize. He placed a hand gently on her shoulder. "We all get mad, we all do dumb things..." He just shook his head a bit. "I don't think he'd want you to know, at least I wouldn't want you to know." Leaning his head back, he released his concentration on the lilac, letting it twist and morph without reason in her lap before it just shattered into nothingness.
The moment his hand touched her, she leaned into him and moved to rest her head on his shoulder. She didn't know him well and it wasn't supposed to be a romantic gesture... she just wanted comfort.
"I never wanted to know, either..."
She shuddered and pulled her knees up to her chest.
Nate knew knights and wizards, good and evil, but absolutely nothing of romance or love. When her knees came up, he'd do his best to just hug her, to comfort her. "It's gonna be alright, we've got this Squaw. We're safe." Somehow he felt his last words were a lie.
"I'm planning on going to Europe," she said, quietly. She knew he was trying to comfort her, but she seemed distant, lost in her own thoughts. "I'm planning on going to war. War killed my brother... and it might... kill me."
If she could die. She wasn't sure after what she just went through.
Nate nodded slowly. "I'm going too." He spoke quietly. "War kills, indiscriminately. But someone has to be the good guy. I'm going to make sure it doesn't kill you." He hugged her a bit tighter.
Nate grinned then, the first time since he'd had to deal with Amtrum the second time. "Absolutely, Merlin can do anything." He said with the same confidence he'd had when he'd fought and lost to Amtrum. "And Arthur needs Merlin, so I've got you."
"Of course." He said absolutely sure. "Who else would help Merlin get his hands on the magic of a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza?" He asked with a grin rubbing her shoulder comfortingly.
Nate nodded a bit. "Yeah, but I don't even know where to begin." He commented. "I can help others far better than straight brawl Leif." He shrugged a bit. He'd been in one real fight so far and he'd left that unconscious.
