Leif was so tired of her funk. It had been a single sleepless, drug-less, alcohol-less night, and she was already sick and tired of it all. She shoved her hand into her brunette hair, staring at herself in the mirror. She looked like absolute hell and she was TIRED of it.
It was only half an hour later that she was out on the basketball court, dribbling and tossing the ball in. She was making every hoop, over and over again. Her hair was tied up and she had no make-up on. She definitely did not look as good as she usually did.
Mike said from the other end of the court, basketball tucked under his right arm. He looked about the same as he always did. All of the chaos happening to Paradigm recently didn't seem to phase him, from war being declared to being attacked in their own home. The world kept spinning and he kept standing.
"Until I get my mind off the bullshit. Challenge me."
Leif smiled but there was an edge to it. She dribbled the ball a few times before turning and throwing it at the hoop. It hit the edge but ended up going in.
When he got the ball he'd dribble it, alternating hands as he moved it between his legs to try and work around her left side and take a shot for the hoop! If she didn't block it he'd score easy.
She was moving far more aggressively than she had during their last game. She moved to block his shot, slamming her hand into the ball before she went to chase after it.
Alright, definitely better than last time. He'd follow after her, attempting to reach his arms around her to swat the ball away when she got it under control.
She was about to turn around when his arms ended up around her. She pushed back against him, planting both feet and catching the ball, trying to move it away from his reach.
She snickered, sprinting as best she could manage while dribbling the ball. If she could get close enough, she'd jump up and try to drop the ball through the hoop.
He managed to get the ball away from the hoop. She cursed as she fell back to the ground, immediately moving to try and get her hands on it again, or to defend if Mike got there first.
He managed to get in front of her and she tried to do something similar to what she had done moments before: dodge under his swat and get behind him. This time, she wouldn't miss.
