'Fake happiness.' Something about the way Leif said that... that was perhaps the most tragic thing Josh had heard anybody say since first coming to Paradigm.
"I gotcha," he said with nod. He shut his eyes for a bit, then looked back up to Leif. "I hope you're finding real happiness, at least eventually. You're a cool person."
Josh had his doubts to that respect. He decided against voices them.
Pushing himself to his feet slowly but surely, he stretched his arms as high as they would go, his shirt lifting a tad above his waist when he did. Once settled, he extended a hand downward.
"We're gonna be here a long while, then," Josh said. "I mean, there's no problem with that! I'm just gonna have to watch you for a bit though because my insides wanna turn inside out just watching you do this!"
The conversation had passed to a more relaxed atmosphere once more. Seriously, nothing impressed him more than physical feats that seemed to defy human ability, and gymnastics had always struck him as one of those. That and synchronized swimming. And being as awful at dancing as Drake.
Josh backed up a few steps, hands finding their comfort zone in his pockets. He met the smirk with a half-smile.
"Well... yeah. Of course," he practically laughed. Looking around a moment, he found an exercise ball and began to sit on that instead, rocking back and forth and trying to keep his balance as he watched her.
And here he was having trouble balancing his butt on a damned ball.
At risk of repeating himself, Josh really had to say that Leif was something else. In order to be that good at what she was doing, she had to have been doing it for a long time. A lot of people at Paradigm, were they training or doing stuff like this for their whole lives?
Kinda made his own life as a regular Wisconsin kid keeping his weird ability under wraps a bit... mundane.
"I'd clap, but I'd feel like a total weenie for doing it," Josh said with a slight giggle. "Seriously though, that was aaamaaaaaazing. I'd almost wish I was built like that, but... nah. I like being me."
When Leif motioned around the gym, Josh realized that while he was here, he probably should have at least made use of the facilities. He was starting to wish he brought a change of clothes. Feeling like an idiot for not preparing when they had talked about this yesterday, Josh rubbed the back of his head.
"Your world seems painful and smells of Bengay." Hands came out of pockets, and the boy made a sad attempt at touching his toes. Yep... just as impossible as it had been since he was five years old. "But I guess I could lift or something. Whatever makes me feel like I'm not just wasting space here."
