...Shaolin coming into the kill zone? No, it can't be that easy. Don't get Valencia wrong, it's super tempting, but there has to be tons of security measures in the inner sanctum where Shaolin sits around and does... Whatever all day.
"You know there's only three things I want. I already have lots of money. So do you happen to have any intel that's worth a favour? Or are we moving on to the last thing?"
Dangit. Ah well. At least she can try to warn Paradigm about Rian.
The lean made it super tempting to shoot a spike out from the shadow...
As for staying here... The walls could literally have eyes and ears... She'd have to don an invisibility cloak to explore. Val wonders if Edward kept the balloonicorns she gave him after all these years. She tries to feel their presence, though she wouldn't blame them if their connection to her has been lost.
Fair enough with the balloonicorns. There are plenty of things she's created that have lives of their own now. Isn't that something!
As for Shaolin meeting Zack later...
...Please no. Valencia doesn't want to witness that. Wait a tick. Valencia jumps to Shaolin's shadow while they're distracted. If anyone's going to see Edward, Shaolin is more likely to.
Shoalin doesn't seem to react to the shadow thing. For a few seconds she looks like she's spacing out, but, as Val guessed it, she does leave the room and head towards the basement.
Valencia didn't know what she was expecting, but she didn't expect Edward to look the way he did. Moment of truth: What is he like now... She waits for the opportunity to jump to his shadow.
Aaaanndd now we're going depreciate the value of gold and crash the economy through inflation. Please, tell Val more about this solution to the gold shortage before the Empire uses it for their wires. She waits in Shaolin's shadow and tries to see the state of the room.
Edward brings Shaolin in to the room where a small gold bar is sitting on a raised platform, while there's a gun-looking machine sitting atop a tripod near it.
"Edward thought that the easiest way to fix the gold... was to make more."
He presses a button on the machine, and a small beam flies out to strike the gold bar. Instantly, the bar multiplies in size several times over, going from being able to be held in one's hand to being the size of a person!
If Valencia could groan without revealing her location, she would.
Money is just a symbol of value, a representation of which. If the precious metal it's based on is worthless, then so is the money. Does Germany go by the gold standard? Ugh, let's move on before Val's narrator needs to get on her laptop to keep complaining.
