There was suddenly a rapid, almost frantic rapping at the window of the cafe. Looking over would find Eric with one arm in a cast knocking on it excitedly, his face literally pressed up against the window and his breath fogging it up.
Unless Savaak had a car, it was worse than not being in the shape to drive. They'd been walking this whole time.
Jan Di looks over casually as she hears the knocking in the window. Considering who she's dating, that sort of excitability was something she'd gotten used to a bit.
But the moment she remembers the whole part about they don't know who made it out, her expression turn to another relieved smile when she notices it's Eric.
"You better get in here and make sure it's not a dream."
Savaak looks over at the rapid knocking, unable to hide her joy at another familiar - and friendly - face.
"As charming as ever," she drawls, waving him in. Another one to add to the list of positive things. Relief eased the tension a fraction as the magic man made his appearance.
"Don't worry, it's a small group so far," she assured Rhett with the ease of someone being certain the sun woudl come out after the rain. Even if it wasn't the most pleasant thing to think about, but Rhett can have a shiny star since he's right.
He let out a sigh of relief seeing that it was indeed them and not just his mind playing tricks on him with some people with passing resemblance to his friends. He felt a weight lift off his heart seeing more of them could be confirmed alive and mostly well.
Making his way into the cafe he'd plop down in a seat at the table with a stupidly happy grin.
"Looks that way." Savaak nods at Jan Di's remark. She's not wrong...and it also helps to not think of hte friends she has that are probably missing still. There were people she still wanted to find. Thankfully, some of them were here now.
"For sure." She chuckles and grins at Rhett's wink.
"Glad to see you, magic man." And in one piece. It was warming to see a good sign.
He tried to do a mental head count going over who he had seen, and who Josh had talked about.
"Josh could probably tell you everyone though. He was the one to pick me back up from the airport since my plan didn't work. So he seems to be the one in contact with the higher ups."
Or whatever was left of the central organization. He honestly didn't know how spread out the damage was.
Ah, memories. Savaak's grin returns at the mention of Josh, along with the memory of a certain squirrel. Though, the fact that this was Rhett...she'd held the thought in before when she introduced herself, but damn, Jan Di. You go, girl.
"A half dozen sounds like a good start. We may want to keep an eye on the airport, though. Maybe others had the same trouble."
"Mmm, might need to invest in another room if we get more people there." Until something else could be found. Savaak sounds like she expects that to happen somehow. Her lips purse slightly as she tries to think of something else they could do, but shakes her head after a moment. It's not like they have much.
She snorted and rolled her eyes at Rhett's comment. It sounded suspiciously like a laugh. "The best airport buddy ever."
"That's kind of what Josh did for me. But it said Portal Boy, which means he got ahold of someone with communication equipment since I got stranded at the vault."
He nodded at Savaak.
"More than one preferably. Though our funding is probably limited right now. So I don't know what options we really have..."
He hesitated on that last bit. He felt like he should talk to Faust, he could do a lot of good for Paradigm and everyone right now. And while he hadn't found a way to not cause problems with his powers yet. Surely Faust had.
"Well I'm sure they aren't due back any time soon." Jan Di shrugs.
"If Josh does indeed have communication with the higher ups, then it'll just be a matter of them telling us when to send someone to meet them at the airport."
They probably had more to worry about than that, right now.
"But you're right on the funding. I mean I've got some money saved up, but I can't say pooling our cash together would be something we can live off of. But Paradigm's had a lot of supporters, right? Or people affiliated with us. Just gotta figure out who's rich and sappy or generous enough to help house and feed us. For a while."
"I'm sure the right people could get some extra funding and donations from supports, too." Savaak a thoughtful hum as she ran some numbers through her mind.
"Well, I know I have some savings. It's not going to get us anything super posh, but I could probably get more from my family." Despite Wilbur's appearance, Savaak did come from a family with money. Maybe it would be enough to help.
