Library Aid [IC Job Part 1]

If there was anything that could make Jin happy it was money. Money makes the world go round and it’s what lets him function in the world. The only thing he compared to money was fighting and that generally led him back to cash. It made sense that Jinn would need an easy way to earn some currency without any real work. He had his lazy side and when it kicked in, there wasn’t much to do about it.

Library aid was the perfect temporary job to get him by for a couple days. Relaxing behind the counter, putting a few books here and there and telling the occasional student to shut the hell up sounded like actual fun, which was surprising when it came to work. Fremont had its uses after all.

The library that day was fairly empty. It was early, however, and Jinn couldn’t say he had personal experience in here. Sitting behind the counter, he stared at the ceiling, tilting back in the chair as he day-dreamed the first couple of hours away. Needless to say he was finding the job rather simplistic. The occasional student would stop by and have a book for him to sign in or out, but that was basically it. There was anything particularly exciting; at least, not that he could really care for. He was one of the brainy types, so ready wasn’t going to happen, after all.

A couple more hours passed by, a few more students making their way in and out of the library, some forced to leave when they were just lounging about, not actually doing anything. Eventually the librarian showed up with a rather large stack of books, asking Jinn to being sorting them and them placing them in their respected areas of the library.

Jinn sorted them by category and then placed them in alphabetical groups per such. Staring with the A’s of Sci-Fi, he lugged a large group of books over, looking where to place them. After a good ten minutes, he found himself back at the large pile of books, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.

“Looks like it’ll be a long day.”

“Finally.”

Jinn let out a breath of relief as the final book was placed on the shelf. What he had expected to be an easy job had turned into a rather long, exhausting experience. Travelling all around the library with book after book, sorting and placing them, took too long for comfort and Jinn was looking to finally head home. He made his way to the desk at the entrance to the library. There were only a few minutes before he was supposed to leave and lock up.

Ready to sit down and relax for the next few minutes, Jinn was interrupted from the sound of the library door opening rather harshly. Looking down the general direction, he spotted a group of male students making their way in and towards the lounge area with grins on their faces. If there was something Jinn had to hate the most is was extra, unnecessary work, and kicking out students when the library was obviously about to close was definitely under that category. He made his way over to the three students who had comfortably place themselves on the couch and multiple chairs that surrounded.

“Hey,” Jinn said sternly. “Time to leave.”

”Aww come on man, we’re just having a good time, just gonna chill. We won’t do anything baaad.” The other students started snickering.

“Nah. Not gonna fly. Get out.”

Jinn wasn’t in the mood to get witty with these students, and the disrespect they were throwing off was enough to put him in a rather bad mood. Crossing his arms as he glared at them, the two students that were sitting bad had the biggest grins on their faces while the third student, the one who was talking back, stood up to come face to face, looking Jinn straight in the eye before he spoke in a more threatening tone.

“You planning on making us, ya fuck?”

Jinn rolled his eyes in disgust. The student was pathetic and he was ready to make an example out of him. His left arm moved from his chest, swinging the elbow into the student in front of him. The eyes of the punk grew wide from the pain, as Jinn through his right knee into the gut of the man. He fell to his knees, gripping his stomach with both arms, shaking from the pain. Jinn’s leg came back to his side before flying forward with another knee into the face of the man, knocking him onto the ground.

The other students were on their feet in no time. Seeing their peer fall to the ground in what was becoming a bloody mess, they were obviously looking for a fight now, rather than just laughing it up.

“Christ.”

Before the blood ended up on the carpet, Jinn grabbed a pile of newsletters from the nearby table, throwing them around the incapacitated student as to save the floor from staining. He then turned back to the other two.

“Leave or you end up like this one.”

”Like hell we’re gonna listen to some library punk like you!”

One of the goons shouted before charging straight for Jinn, his right arm bent back as to strike. The arm flew forward with a punch, the man stopping in his place. Jinn leaned to the right and ducked downward, keeping his feet on the ground and sending a hard punch for the gut of the man. He fell to his knees quickly, and was merely pushed to the right of Jinn as he stood up again, the other man coming in for an attack.

Goon three wasn’t much to deal with either. As he threw himself forward, he clenched his teeth, frowning at Jinn with undisputed rage. He sent a left hook for the side of Jinn’s head, in which he leaned back to dodge. The man followed up, throwing a roundhouse kick for his side. Jinn grabbed hold of the leg, feeling the majority of the impact. Sweat began to bead down the side of his head as the man attempted to tear his leg away from Jinn’s grip. Quickly, Jinn pulled on the leg, causing the man to begin to topple over, losing his balance. He let go of the leg, clenching his right fist and stretching back before sending in a full shot straight into the face of the man as he toppled over. The impact was enough to throw him onto his back, and for Jinn to begin waving his hand from the pain.

The third goon was knocked out upon impact, leaving only the second as he slowly picked himself off the floor, a look of terror on his face. Jinn met the look with a stern stare before speaking up.

“Take your buddies and leave.”

He was scared, the delinquent. Not wanting to be as injured as his allies, he grabbed hold of both of them, from the collars of their shirt and began dragging them out of the room. Jinn stood there for a minute just staring at the door, even as it closed. Finally, he looked down to see the blood stained newsletters scattered about. With a sigh of disappointment, he began collecting them into a pile and subsequently throwing them out in the nearby trash bin.

The carpet had remained clean, and Jinn had prevented any furniture from damage. It seemed like a successful day, to say the least and he was ready to head home, making his way to the door. He flicked the light switch on his way out, the library being covered in the dark. The light that shined form the halls slowly grew thinner and thinner as the door closed. Jinn made his way down the hall, heading for the dorms with a smirk on his face.

“This is my school, you damn punks."
