"What is up with this place man? I thought you were all supposed to be the good guys." Nate walks up towards the desk obviously distressed.
"I came to you asking for help, because I didn't know what was going on and it was a lesson in getting my ads kicked. I went to the director who told me I'd get used to things, just give it some time, and not an hour later watch him try and murder someone."
Nate runs his hands through his hair in frustration.
"I get the whole utilize your powers for good thing, I really do, but what is going on here Instructor? I've been here for two days and I'm afraid for my life, I'm afraid that things are far more than I was told, I'm really afraid. I'm used to being the magician, fooling people into believing what they see. I don't know what it is I'm seeing here."
Nate turned his brown eyes up to his Instructor, searching for some kind of answer that will let him sleep at night.
"You don't 'get' that you joined a super powered militarily equipped police force that has just been informed that we are going to war against to what amounts to be Super Nazi's? Or you don't get that asking the combat instructor lead to combat?"
"Police force! POLICE FORCE! That doesn't make us judge jury and executioner of anyone we damn well please. And thank you for the introduction Instructor Amtrum, It was so readily apparent that all you did was teach combat, I must have missed that in your informative introduction!"
Nate finally snapped back at Amtrum, he didn't really deserve it, but the illusionist didn't seem to be able communicate with him outside of harsh extremes.
"If you don't like it, quit. We are charged to handle these threats to our discretion. And now we are shipping off to war, and it isn't to deliver flowers to them. We will be killing people."
"Look I don't want to quit. I want to learn, I want to grow and I want to help. I want to protect people Mr. Amtrum. I just don't know How to do that."
"No, I mean figure out what you can personally handle. What did you hope to get here? For me to tell you that we don't kill people? For me to give you pretty lies? For me to be your tour guide? Cause I'm gonna be honest. We are at war. And I am shipping out in days. I have intel reports. Deployment rosters to sort out, and a mess of other issues that require my attention. Now if you need something of substance, I'm here to help. But if you are here because you are upset because sometimes we have to make a judgement call on how to handle a threat then I got nothing to tell you other than deal with it."
"I hoped honestly for you to tell me we weren't the bad guys in this morbid war, and that it wasn't just murder for murders sake, that it was a judgement, and one not taken lightly."
Nate shrugged his shoulders, trying to wrap his mind around it all.
"Thank you anyway Mr. Amtrum. Sorry for wasting your time."
"You need to make that judgement for yourself. If you require someone else to make judgement of morality for you, then you have no business doing what we do."
