“Yeah, how much is it?”

“Seven hundred.”

Ken cursed. That was like…everything he had. Maybe it would leave fifty bucks in his room and ten in his pocket. He wasn’t a wealthy man. What he had he made doing odd jobs or working construction, where age limits at 16 made things easy for him. Ken would shake his head, thinking to himself.

“This desk looks a lot more expensive than that. Why so cheap?”

The man behind the counter pointed at a sign- going out of business sale. Everything is 80 percent off. He would look back down at the desk and sigh, before giving a nod. He would hand over his debit card, the man behind the counter running it before allowing him to punch in his pin. getting the “approved” sign, Ken turned to the desk. The man behind the counter stepped over, extending a hand in question.

“Did you want me to get a few boys to-“

He went silent as Ken lifted the massive thing like it was cardboard. He put it on his back, holding onto it by the edges and looking at the wide eyed salesman who promptly opened the large garage door at the side of his building. Ken walked the fuckin’ thing out, and took a deep breath. Good thing today was a rare day of sun. He would start off on a jog, the large wooden desk wrapped up in order to keep it’s drawers from opening.

Only a mile, and this would be done with.
