"You are a smart young man Rhett. I'm sure if it is something you truly want, you can find a way to get it. And you might not even have to betray your loyalties to get it."
He had faith in Rhett to get whatever needed to be done, done.
As for the stabbings. They were clean jobs. No fingerprints. No DNA traces of the killer, and no method of entry known. Meta human abilities are suspected to be at work given the lack of any evidence. Both targets were male and both had their throats slit in their homes.
She printed that off as well and gathered what she found out, silently storming out of the archive area. She had more research to do, but it wouldn't be as upfront and easy.
As she came up to Rhett and Mathew, she stopped, looking cold and disassociated. "I'm going," she said, holding up the papers. "Somebody is using Greed. The stabbings both have to do with drugs. Whether I help you with the bastard or not, I'll be there."
Anything insightful or meaningful that Mathew may have been about to say in this touching bonding moment was interrupted by Venus who was apparently incapable of following orders. He'd just stare at her.
"As long as you do what I ordered you to do five minutes ago you can go to any city you like."
He didn't care beyond that. Besides, it sounded like she wouldn't be in his hair if she had her own pet project now.
Venus didn't mind ruining moments. Especially right now.
She stared at Mat for a long moment, emotionless and still. She wanted to stab him... preferably with Greed, since it was relevant.
Her fingers twitched towards it, in fact, before she managed to relax her posture again. Dammit, Mat.
She wanted to tell him that he was on vacation, and therefore was in no place to order her to do anything. At all. She wanted to tell him to shove his order up his ass. She wanted to grab him by the hair and beat his head into the wall until he had some common sense.
He'd give Rhett a pat on the shoulder with his flesh hand and a small nod as he made his own way toward his office. He had a phone call to make before he left.
