Well the good news was Eric was off the morphine drip at this point. Only to press the button with sudden flares of pain, so he was pretty much back to normal mentally, though still stuck in bed. And still peeing what he was sure more blood than urine... But still! He was alive and was clearly going to pull through.
He was writing a note on a piece of paper with a frown before opening a portal and tossing it in to the portal before closing it. It should open up to Fred's room for her to find it.
I'm sorry for what I did. I didn't mean to hurt you. Please don't hate me.
Eric can hear a clack-thud noise outside his door. It happens a couple of times before a familiar sigh comes from the other side of the door, followed by a familiar knock!
After a moment, the door opens to reveal Becca! With crutches!
She pushes her way through, using a crutch to shut the door before looking him over. Aaron had said alive but not well. This had to be better.
"We have to stop meeting like this." She tried to crack a joke as she makes her way over to the chair next to his bed, scooting it over if it isn't already there and taking a seat.
Alive and better. Thankfully. She swallows against the rush of relief.
She wasn't used to being in this side of the bed often. It was unnerving, seeing him like this hurt. He looked like a less lively version of himself, and that felt wrong.
"It'll be okay. I have to stay a couple of days until I'm given the okay, but at last I'm not bound to a bed this time." She sets the crutches to one side and turns back to him.
"A lot more than that if I can pay you back for yesterday." She huffs and waves him away with a hand, both of which are gloved now. She can feel the panic from before welling up as she thinks on it.
"Seriously, Eric, you scared the crap out of me!" Now both hands are in the air as she makes a vague, encompassing gesture. "You literally dropped me through a portal after I got to see you get stabbed and no one else showed up!"
It's her turn to frown. She can understand what he did and probably what he meant to do, but that wasn't what happened. Plans could always go awry.
"You're welcome?" She blinks, irritation flashing through her eyes as the emotions climb. "Do you know what happened when I got here? Cause I sure don't. I know you and the others, and yet there was nothing! You get stabbed, Sarah's screaming in my ear, then nothing! No contact, no other portals or teammates, no news until Aaron drops by and tells me that you're 'alive but not well.' And I didn't even know about Fred or any of the others!"
He still doesn't look at her for a few moments. He'd wince when she mentioned Fred. He'd take a deep breath before snapping his head to face her, ready to just do this. It was obvious where this was going to go.
"What was I supposed to do? Yeah, I got stabbed and poisoned. I was fading fast and was calling for people to fall back and I see you're leg get fucked up. I didn't know if you could make it, or how many portals I could make."
He'd motion with his hand as several small portals ripped open around the room.
"It takes more than me just waving my hand to do that."
"Why do you think I was as worried as I was?" she snaps back, shaking her head as she looks at the portals. The last thing she wanted to do was fight, yet here they were, clearing the air in a spectacular fashion.
"What choice was that?" She shakes her head again, swallowing as her volume drops.
"Why?" For all she knows asking that gets her nowhere, she can't think of anything else to say. She can't even look away, searching what she can see of his face for some sort of sign. OF all the people there, of all the things he could have done, he'd sent her back. He could have brought in something to help them fight, or some sort of anti-psychic technology, if that would have even worked.
Despite having other friends there, he'd chosen to save her, instead.
