In the Internet cafe on Rammelkamp Avenue, Dagny was trolling a random chatroom she found under the guise of “SuperHappiRAINBOWJUMPER32”... A name that can very easy be disposed of once its use has been expended. The Vietnamese “fortune teller” smirked inwardly at how much easier it was to construct an identity online than in reality. It was sad, really. Deciphering a bunch of words (or numbers and symbols) on a screen could either reveal profound truths or a basket full of lies. Dagny didn't know what to make of it. She learned a lot about life on the Interwebz during her stay in the hospital... Especially after seeing the embarrassing remixes on YouTube of her getting shot. A lot of the videos were hilarious, but at the same time, a lot of them were as painful to watch as it was to get shot with a bullet. She leaned back in her chair and folded her arms behind her head as she grooved to “We Didn't Start the Flame War” playing through her headphones. The cafe was dark and the light of computer monitors reflected off of Dagny's sunglasses, which she wore indoors, much to the confusion of the patrons who bothered to look her way. The rest? They were glued to their WoW, MySpace, Facebook, Iming devices, and pr0n.

Dagny was surfing the web, lurking a bunch of places where her friends still hung out. As she browsed a bunch of social networking sites, the many friends and acquaintances she made in San Francisco were posting about graduation, what they'll be doing over the summer, their nephew's first loose tooth, and just the usual things you'd find on a blog. They didn't really talk much about Valencia's accident. If anything, they expressed their surprise a long time ago already and there really wasn't much else to say. It was interesting seeing how people manage to move on with their own lives and while it put her at ease that her friends weren't hurt by her disappearance, she felt a bit sad that she was forgotten so easily. Mais... C'est la vie. She got up and headed to the back where the vending machines were and purchased a bottle of orange soda. Rather than head back to her seat, she went to the main counter where she placed several bills into the tip jar and stepped outside to get some fresh air.

And just in time to see the poor little asian who was running full steam to the book store across the street from the internet cafe. His nostruls flaring, the smoke behind him as his knees came almost to his chest with each stride, hands turned to knives as he charged. His breath was heavy with each step, but with an exhausted and over worked hollor of victory he would slide to a stop in front of the store. Throwing his arms up leaning back and closing his eyes with energy as someone stepped out and turned to the door.

"I'M HERE!"

-CLICK!!-

"Sorry we just closed for the day."

The man said and walked away. Souji remained in the position for a few seconds as it started to kick in what just happened. His arms fell to his sides his head hung low and his back slouched.

"I'm late?"

He asked himself in disbelief. As if on the verge of tears.

"No! Damnit I preordered my copy last year! Damnit!"

He'd start running up and down the side walk looking in the windows trying to spot the book. Place his face and hands completely against the glass as if by some miracle he would phase through it. But once he spotted the cover the window where is face was would fog and his face would turn red, a nose bleed would occure and he would fall to the ground, in a pile of limbs his left pinky twitching ever so slightly.

Dagny looked on as a young Asian man bolted out of the Internet cafe to the bookstore across the street in a very frantic fashion. She sipped her soda as she watched the scene unfold, unsure of what to make of it. The feller was excitable, easy to disorient, and in a nutshell... Animated. A corner of her lips curved up into a silent smile. Dagny didn't know too much about Souji, at least not yet, but she soon will as soon as she... “Dissects” him. She made sure that no crazy Californians were on the road before crossing the street with a cool gait. Once she was on the other side, she knelt down and gently nudged the heap on the floor with a lilt in her voice.

“Say, you look like you're down on your luck. Would you kindly tell me what's the matter?”

After asking her question, Dagny stood up and peered curiously into the bookstore's window, wondering what the stranger was making a fuss about. It was moments like these that she wish she didn't wear her aviator sunglasses 24/7. Since the store was closing up, some of the lights were out and the only light she got was the late afternoon sunlight on the street that wasn't obscured by trees or awnings.

Souji's head would turn to look at the female from the pile of body parts as if it wheren't supposed to turn that way, he would jump up to his feet, his face turning red again, he'd look inside to the book, then back to the female. Embarrassment!

~Wait... What if I change the subject!? Yes! I'm a genius.~

Souji would drop to one knee with that ever familier twinkle in his eye. A wide inspired smile on his face, and water to mix in his eyes.

"Oh vision of beauty would you do me the honor of dinner? I know we have never met, but I Rok Souji, have sensed destiny is apon us. We must not fight it."

If only to distract her from her previouse question, he would not be able to answer her, it was too embarrassing to say to a female.

Dagny chuckled lightly to herself.

“Oh you flatter me, Mr. Souji! But of course I, Cricket Buchanan, would love you to treat me to dinner, especially if you do all the paying! However, while we shouldn't fight our destiny, destiny works in funny ways and following fate's course is a full-time job—No picking and choosing; You mustn't fight your destiny and you must tell me what's the matter.”

Charmed? Eh. It takes a lot to truly charm this young woman. It takes class and a demonstration of finesse (+ “sparkles”—not the Twilight kind) to do so. Dagny doesn't sleep with the first guy who's willing to “do it” with her, especially after her first traumatizing experience in the past. That's desperation. She's just humoring this young man since he appears so insistent on distracting her and it piqued her curiosity (+ possible free food). The giveaway? Souji's nosebleed still present on his face, though very slight. It must be something very potent to illicit that kind of effect on an individual and she was willing to guess that it was something inappropriate. She lifted a brow and smirked at her acquaintance.

“I'm a fortune teller and it'd be very rude of you to fight your destiny right in front of me.”

~Shit a fortune teller! Alas captured and defeated!~

Raising to his feet, not losing the sparkle in his eyes he would quickly whipe is face with his sleeve, which only left a few red spots on his upper lip and both cheeks. He was slightly surprised by the fact she was a fortune teller, and clever enough not to fall for his distraction, so he would end up buying her dinner, AND telling her what the problem was. But wait. Unspecifics!

~I'm still a genuis!~

Souji would point to the door.

"I have waited 367 days to get a book a preordered at exactly 12:35 am last year. I was held up by my unstoppable attraction to beautiful females. Thus I was late to pick it up."

Souji kept a straight face and a smile, it was the truth, but he was able to avoid saying anything about the book. In his mind he was partying with hundreds of himself in different colored clothing with a big cake, oh and a disco ball, yes cant forget the disco ball.

"Now where do you like to eat, I must treat my rather attractive new acquaintence to a great dinner!"

He proclaimed with alot of furver pointing towards a mountin in the distance.

“It must've been quite an important book for you to remember all that and fall to the ground like that! And for the owners of the store to not let you make one little purchase before closing. Tsk tsk... I believe that means you should purchase your important book from another location. Why wait longer than you have to? After all, if I made you late, the very least I can do is help you get your book.”

The key word is “if”. He collapsed into a heap before Dagny crossed the street to investigate, but why not turn it into an excuse? Souji once more didn't say much about the book and Dagny noticed. She also noticed that he was still trying to change the topic. Really, it can't be THAT bad of a book, is it? Unless it's crazy hardcore porn featuring the nude beaches of Europe complete with centerfolds and posters or something that crazy. You can't really call that a book, but Dagny assumed Souji's book must be along that vein if his embarrassment is comparable to a middle schooler getting his first Playboy and hiding it from his mom. The Vietnamese woman adjusted her sunglasses and chuckled as Souji struck yet another silly pose.

“There should be another bookstore right around the corner and wouldn't you know it, there's an Italian restaurant right next to it and I'm feeling peckish. Shall we go?”

And before Souji could respond, she was already heading towards the corner and once she was several yards away, she looked over her shoulder to see if her acquaintance was following.

She spoke and began moving before Souji could respond, holding up a finger to signal the 'hold on for a minute' hand sign. But she just moved, he was left with an open mouth and stuck words, letting the finger fall into the hand as if deflated he'd walk to catch up, once again defeated. This fortune teller was really good. Maybe possible she was even more genius than him! Souji descided to find out a name to go with the title at least.

"So Ms. Fortunteller, if I'm going to treat you to dinner, the least I could get is a name."

~And embarassment beyond that of anything in my life previousely.~

He was dreading the moment they'd come around the corner to find the book store. Esspecially once the discovery of what it was sinc ehe had to start paying for it last year to get it this year. His heart was racing, his mind was trying to come up with excuses, or other ideas. But through his worry he was coming up blank. Though he walked and looked fine, the imaginery him was wracking his head and slaming it against the wall as he walked.

“As I've told you, I'm Cricket Buchanan. You may call me Cricket, if it pleases you~”

With a smile, she waited until Souji caught up before continuing her walk towards the Italian restaurant. Ah, Cricket Buchanan. One of Dagny's many pseudonyms. To think the majority of these fake names were created based off of all the waitresses, baristas, and busboys she met in the course of her lifetime. One of these days, these fake names will catch up to her. Until then, “that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet”; What matters is what something is, not what it is called. It'd be funny if Souji kept referring to Dagny as Ms. FortuneTeller though. “Misfortune Teller” indeed. Once the two were at the restaurant, she soon found that people were waiting around the entrance for a table.

“Hm. My my... More waiting. And here I thought we could appease our appetites before getting your book. Well, we can always sign a table under your name on the clipboard and pass the time checking out the bookstore next door~”

Taking charge once again, Dagny clicked the ballpoint pen and scribbled “Mr. Souji” onto the clipboard. They were a bit far down the list since other people got to the restaurant before they did. Another smile was on her lips as she looked to Souji through her sunglasses.

“Say, may you tell me what the title of your important book is? That way we can both look for it and purchase it before this bookstore closes too! Double the effort!”

~OMG THE DEFEAT!!~

Souji could do nothing to stop this female, she just did things. Sporatic and unpredictable, and assertive. Not to mention wouldnt let him change the subject which was slightly stubbern. This chick continually became more and more attractive. He could have fun hanging out with her if it wasnt for the fact she was embarassing him to the dagree he was. He spoke in an almost hushed tone as he spoke the title of the book.

"Yukemaru Nyannyan Jiken."

Souji was blushing hard now, trying to hide it and keep from making eye contact. This was worse than being found reading a porn by a female you dont know, this one was ahead of the game and was helping him get one. He was of course only 15. Still discovering these things.

Dagny wrote down what she just heard into a notebook she got out of her bag and repeated the title out loud to make sure she wasn't mishearing things.

“Yuke... Maru... Nyan-Nyan Jiken...?”

I don't know squat about Japanese... Something about cats? What's wrong with loving kitty cats? Awwww~ He's trying to be tough!

She giggled softly to herself. Cute. Very cute. If it weren't for the fact that she'll be hunting for porn. The fact that she doesn't know this is probably the only thing saving the poor high schooler. The first places Dagny will search will be in the pets and children's books sections. If she knew the author and the genre of the book, it would've narrowed her search, but she figured she could always ask the store's owner to look for the book for her after putting some effort into assisting her acquaintance. If only Souji gave her a fake title to have her search for a nonexistent book... Well, here's one way for Souji to escape further embarrassment: Find the book before she does, buy it, then get her out of the store before she knows what's going on. Sounds simple, right? The fortune teller entered the store with a grin and nodded at the store owner before hunting for the book.

She headed off to search, Souji looked around, unfamilier with the layout of this store. His eyes scanned the different aisles and seperations, distances, sections, and made an almost untracable difficult path from the books location to the register, without being spotted by Ms. Fortune Teller. So he moved around slowly at first as if scanning, and once behind a shelf and out of sight, dropped low and moved quickly, diving to another location soon finding the manga section of the store. Thats fucking right. A manga.

His eyes scanned for the cover, finger tracing as if reading brail. And there it was. A picture of Yuroichi from bleach was on the cover. Wearing extremely revieling clothing. His eyes darted left, then right. His ears heard only the flipping of pages and the beating of the wings of a fly. Grabbing the book quickly he would make his way through the business section of the store and make a break for the cash register grabbing a random person to stand next to him while he purchased the book so as to not get spotted easily. Almost holding his breath the whole time he baught the book, wrapped it up in the plastic bag and stashed it on the inside pocket of his leather jacket.

Now he just had to find the Fortune Teller.

As for Dagny, she was still looking to no avail for the book, no—Manga, that Souji found before she did. Thank goodness too. Her expectations in regards to fluffy kitties would've been greatly refuted had she found the manga first. Though once you think about it, explicit porn and kitty cats do have something in common pussies—SORRY I HAD TO SAY IT... Anyways, Dagny was still searching and even picked up a few books on kitties to coo quietly at the adorable pictures. She had a dog at home that practically eats kitties when no one pays enough attention to him (which he thankfully has plenty of, but that doesn't dispel the fact that Riesling is mostly ferocious), so the only time she gets to bask in small and cuddly is when she's on cuteoverload or on her own in public.

I have money and I don't think Mr. Souji will mind me paying for a book of my own...

With that in mind, she got a picture-filled encyclopedia on cats that was marked down and saw her acquaintance hanging around the cash register. Dagny smiled and headed on over to pay for her book.

“Did you find what you were looking for? I couldn't, so I hope you don't mind me making the most of the visit before our dinner in the restaurant next doors. I'm definitely looking forward to that. Who knows, it might even be our turn to get a table!”

When the Fortune Teller spoke to him about finding his book his face turned slightly red, and he felt hot so he stepped to the side and folded his arms behind his head with mock laughter. Closing his eyes to make it all the more cheesey.

"Of course, now lets go see how our reservation is going."

The young man would wait for her to pay for her book, and then lead the way out, doing the gentlemanly thing and holding the door open for Cricket. He wasnt sure how it'd be taken, he'd done things like that before and the best he got was a humph a flick of the hair and they would walk out the other door. He didnt care if she did though, they ahrdly knew each other.

He'd continue to the reseraunt, all the while humming a small tune that was slow, slight rthm in the tone changes, but mostly sounding like some sort of sad tale. But to offset the sound his face was bright with sparkles. A smile on his face as he walked.

((OOC: Sorry for the crazy long wait! I'm gonna try to respond a bit sooner from now on if this thread is not dead or finished, eh? That said, have a could-be-ending-could-be-continued-up-to-you post.))

Dagny appreciated the polite gesture of Souji holding the door open for her. While some may consider it an insult along the lines of “What, don't think I can do it on my own?!”, Dagny learned over time that it means a lot when people are willing to help you no matter how capable you are at handling your own concerns. Doubly so if they're aware of what you're capable of. She smiled as she walked along with her friendly acquaintance, listening to the tune he hummed. Being the inquisitive person she was, she was tempted to pry and figure out what kind of song he was humming, in case she wanted to hunt for an MP3 when she got home, but she messed with Souji enough for the evening and didn't feel like bugging him in this peaceful walk to the Italian restaurant. When they arrived, enough time did indeed pass and they only had to wait for a couple to finish their meal before they were seated.
