Colin somehow fell into the habit of carrying around his pills and practicing his deep breathing and the ... count... to ten.
Okay so he only popped the pills and thought the rest was bullshit and if he hadn't been strapped to his chair while he was going through anger management sessions with a therapist he would have throttled him for being a fucking idiot.
Which is probably why he was taking twice the recommended dose a day and even then people still annoyed the crap out of him between doses. Little wonder Luli kept trying to steal his little orange prescription bottle every chance she got close enough to rub against him.
Colin decided against sticking around for her to try again for lunch and headed off on a Saturday after noon to walk to a local In & Out that would assuredly be busy, have fresh fries, and the best fucking double cheese burger in the whole damn country.
Traveling along the sidewalk he would be seen in a light outfit of a pair of his traditional rugged jeans, a gray muscle shirt, and an unbuttoned navy collared shirt. While he moved closer to the burger joint he was aware of the odd drunk or two stumbling along, early drinkers already tossed out on their ass.
In-N-Out Burger, probably the second best place to get a truly great cheeseburger, and after the last attempt she had she decided to go alone. It had been possibly way to long since she had enjoyed the greasy, artery clogging goodness of a good fried food and a overloaded heart attack on a bun. Yep this was what led Aleece out to the local In-N-Out, with no one not even her pocket computer. Hell even her cell phone was turned off.
With a small smile ran a hand through her high pony tail as she waited in line the place as usually pretty busy but the service quick. She tried to ignore the early drunks behind her, it wasn't an uncommon occurrence around here on the weekend possibly they had been drinking from the night before and decided to just...keep on. Who knew but what she did know was that she didn't want to bothered with it. Just...a nice cheese burger with a coke and fries...thats all.
Well it seemed like they weren't going to have it and one of them knocked into her which caused her to bump into the person in front of her and she suddenly felt an arm around her waist almost instantly. She wasn't dressed in a particularly provoking way int he least her usual low riders and a Henley tank top, pretty typical warm weather wear, and she cringed and flinched a bit at the smell of the stomach turning stench from the guys mouth as she draped on her and spoke to the side of her face.
"Hey baby," he said swaying a bit on her, "gettin' a burger? Well I got some meat you can put in your mouth." Apparently he thought that was the wittiest and funniest thing he could have possibly say in his life because he laughed loudly in her ear.
For a shocked filled moment she felt a wondering hand grope at her chest, "you don't have have a lot of tits, lets see if you've got an ass at least."
Aleece's face lit up hotly with anger, embarrassment and indignity at that. Really it was so mumbled and slurred she wasn't sure what he was saying but the comments were something to be desired entirely. Pulling up her arm she jammed it back into the guys gut and pushed back with her weight to get him off her. Well it worked and he stumbled but his friend obviously thought that was the wrong move because he had her wrist in a bruising grip.
'Oh..what the hell,' Aleece thought to herself as she stepped in and went for the most sensitive place she could...the groin by hauling her knee up and right between his legs. She wasn't exactly helpless but she knew when she had to run and now...was that moment to get the hell out of here. Aleece tensed ready to turn and haul her apparently tit - less self out of there.

Colin found out that the drunks weren't only outside wandering the streets, they were also inside. When he stepped into the wonderfully air conditioned store he found that there was two in the line in front of him. Of course he wasn't all that happy that they got handsy with a minor, but he was more interested in getting them the hell out of the line so he could eat that much faster.
So when he saw quick scuffle when the girl defended herself he turned out of the way and grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his side before she could run off and leave him without a way to get a free meal. Strong arming her he kept her tight to his side so he could give off a brotherly air as he eyed the two drunks walking toward him.
"Alright boys, get back in line, or get the fuck out. Either way be grateful that I think eating is more important than breaking your fingers for feeling up my little friend here." Colin raised his brow and held out his hand, twisting his wrist up so he could flick them off, his brow raised as he stared them down.
Aleece was about ready to turn, and had to sprint out of there when she felt another arm go around her waist, pulling her in, keeping her firmly in place at his side. Looking up she frowned a bit but noticed this guy wasn't even looking her way but instead the two drunks. She was still tensed up and her eyes settled on the two looking ready to fight but just when she thought they might...they didn't, instead turning to leave with a few derogatory remarks. With a sigh Aleece finally relaxed momentarily before stiffening up once again.
"Thanks," she muttered not looking at the stranger who had stepped in for her and attempted to push out of his hold on her. It wasn't like she wasn't grateful or anything but she thought seriously people around here didn't get the concept of personal space even in extreme circumstance.
"Um - I'm Aleece by the way," she said finally looking up at him, her mouth turned down in discontent. "Since I guess my meal won't be on the run now, I suppose I can buy you a burger seeing as how you saved my ass right there."
Smiling a little she raised an eyebrow slightly and waited to see what he had to say about the offer. He looked much older then her and if she had to guess she'd have to say he was in college, and by the looks of him not with a very open or pleasant disposition.
Colin wasn't all that surprised that the drunks wandered off, although it wasn't because he had a reputation inside the school. He was a big strong guy who knew how to handle himself, and that kind of confidence, the knowing that you can destroy something, it comes off you in waves, and drunks trolling for booty weren't interested in being in traction.
They wandered out after muttering a few curses, but didn't try anything. Sighing he glanced down at his captive and realized that he still had a hold on her. She was younger than he first thought, looked like a high school kid to him. Raising his brow slightly at her introduction he brought the hand that had followed the assholes on the way out, making sure they didn't forget to fuck of, and brought it down to grab her hand and give it a firm shake.
"Colin, and saving a nice ass and getting reward with food should happen more often" With his chest shaking from a light chuckle he gave her a firm pat on the ass, sending her back into line. "Double cheese burger, fries, and a coke." Colin turned and glanced around the place, finding that as usual there was barely any seats left. Except of course a few kids he remember back from his freshmen days.
"I'm gonna clear us a spot." He said as he turned and walked to the corner booth, smirking as he leaned over the table and placed his hands down hard. "Hey boys, your done with your food, right?" Not in any hurry to disagree with him they exchanged glances and piled out of the booth, taking their food with them, and Colin had himself a booth all to himself, keeping a close eye on his free meal.
Aleece with fine with the handshake but when she felt the quick slap to her ass she felt her face heat up again and she scowled up at the guy. What the hell was everyone getting touchy feely about today? She was left with her mouth slightly hanging open as if she was about to say something when he dismissed her with his order and went to clear a table. She was left just staring after him with a mild look of shock or disbelief…either one would work at the moment.
She really had never been treated so abrupt and by someone she didn’t know.
Shaking her head Aleece walked up to place her order for a number two and three both with cokes. Paying with a sigh she didn’t go sit down until she could just get her food first, the smell of the cooking burgers and deep frying potatoes making her stomach grumble again the incident quickly forgotten. Like she thought her order was up pretty quick and she smiled at the guy that slid the tray to her, followed by a small thanks she headed to the table.
Setting it down Aleece slid it over to him and raised an eyebrow before seating herself a little ways away from him. She almost wanted to know what had made those kids scramble out so quickly when he had walked over but she didn’t ask.
“Well there you go unless you want me to chew it up for you first…” she said deadpanned. Hey the guy had saved her ass but she was buying him food, didn’t mean she had to necessarily try to kiss up.
Colin rested back in his seat and used the fact that she didn't sit directly across from him to crossed legs legs on the seat next to her. There wasn't much point in arguing with her, she was totally dead in her tone, but that didn't keep him from being a wise ass. "While I usually wouldn't object to being fed orally I have a feeling your way too young for me."
Reaching out he grabbed his food and pulled it onto the arm across his chest, and pinched several fries. Greasy, crunchy, gloriously golden fries that he ate away in two large bites and started chewing while wearing a grin.
The only thing better than In-&-Out was the same thing, when it's free. So looking as though he was enjoying himself he leaned back and relaxed through half of his french fries, which he dusted with salt, and look oed the girl like something was bugging him.
After swallowing a large bite of his double cheese burger he placed the food down in front of him and pulled his legs back, resting forward on his forearms. "Something wrong on my face, or do you always look like you've been pissed on?"
Aleece’s face crimped in a mixture of light disgust and amusement. She wasn’t sure which was worse the drunks that had propositioned her a moment ago or this guy who was just as lewd. Well it wasn’t as if he was lewd in anyways she wasn’t used to coming from guys and that being the running norm as of late, but he was just a cocky bastard it seemed while lacking the charm to really smooth it over.
Raising an eyebrow she reached for her own fries and burger take a few to eat of her own a small hum of satisfaction on her lips for it as she munched away. Aleece hadn’t even realized she’d been staring at the guy who was admittedly good looking but something all together just put her off almost instantly about him. There were to many of those types running around she realized and his next words that made her shake her head, hardly caring if she was to young or not and not having meant her comment in such a way.
Instead she concentrated on her burger taking a large bite from it and taking her time to really enjoy what made a good cheeseburger…well good. It was all in the set up of the veggies and condiment placement in proportion to the meat, but really she didn’t want to get into burger schematics at the moment just enjoying her food was good enough. Again she let her gaze linger on Colin’s face somewhat grossly fascinated by the way he seemed to just wolf down everything without a care of how he ate and who he was with or who watched.
His comment made her snap out of it and she frowned, “I usually don’t, no…its just the way you eat should be studied in a closed environment with hazard suits on…”
Raising an eyebrow she grinned a bit and went back to eating. She got no sort of gut tingling funnies around this guy just a mixture of amusement and mild revulsion and she wondered why it felt so familiar…suddenly she grinned a bit and snorted a laugh as she looked down at her fries. Her own brother…that’s why; Leo was the typical sibling rude and annoying with no clue of leaving people alone.
Colin got his answer and found that it was pretty clever. Not anything he would come up with, not without a few minutes to plan and a sketchbook of a bad ideas that would range from stupid to crudely funny. Probably involving food eaten from odd places in ways that food should never be enjoyed, and somehow he managed to make a point of glancing off as he thought of things he could do to Luli with some jello and whip cream.
Shaking his head he changed his train of thought back to his meal. He had taken two large bites so far, and left around 4/6ths of the burger left for him to eat. The burger was large, perfectly made, and wonderfully juicy. Bun, meat, cheese, meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato, slathered in a special sauce that was somewhere between ketchup and relish or just ketchup and mustard if that is your choice.
He would spend the couple bucks to go to In & Out rather than go to a fancy restaurant. Fuck your expensive stakes and lobster, give him twenty bucks and he'll eat like a king on french fries and burgers.
Oh, right, he having a conversation with someone. Sex and food, priorities of life, talking is way down on that list. "Well if you want a hazard suit I'd suggest that you put in an order through the black market. Someone tried to buy one couple years back and the Marines from Knox dragged him out of the dorms and questioned him about possible terrorist connections. Crazy fuckers."
For a moment he didn’t say anything, the way he looked away making Aleece feel promptly ignored and slightly put out with a huff she rolled her eyes, then merely continued to eat. Fine so the guy apparently had no sense of humor…
So she concentrated on filling her stomach and nothing else, it had after all been the intention of coming down here after all, drunks and brother like assholes aside, she was still hungry. Aleece’s bites were a bit more slow and considerably smaller then what she was sure Colin was taking and she was almost surprised to hear him talking to her when he did. The time had lulled between her comment and when he spoke up making her pause mid chew and raise an eyebrow. Not to mention the way the apparently forgotten conversation and his company had been recognized, oh yeah...
Shaking her head she laughed to herself, he had no idea how true that remark was, Knox was something else indeed, and something she didn’t know she belonged in at this point, but there was no backing out now, she supposed. “I know just how crazy they are over there, I’m a Knox cadet myself.”
While she didn’t have a problem following uniform code or policies she wasn’t a real military type, the whole establishment was piece of work…gently put of course. “So I take it your go to the collective?”
Finding that his little story got a giggle from the girl across from him Colin raised his brow and frowned. For fucks sake, I tell a crazy ass story like I'm a grandfather and all I get is a giggle. Not making the connection between his pills and his change in mindset he took in a heavy breath and sighed it out, reaching into his pocket as he listened to the Cadet confirm his basic understanding of Knox.
The orange bottle was pulled out and slapped down onto the table, something he did more out of habit than frustration. "I won't hold it against you, I don't feel like being dragged out of my dorm by that Headmaster asshole." Deciding that would be the perfect time to wet his whistle he reached out and grabbed his soda, sipping loudly as he leaned back.
"Besides, your too wimpy to beat down. Kind of pathetic really, even for a Knox cadet." Colin raised his brow slightly and stretched his arms above his head, his muscle shirt tight against his body as it lifted above his naval while he stretched. "Oh, yeah. Fremont and then went up to O' Hare. Do you get in trouble a lot? 'Cause if you do I'll give you my cell number so I can get free burgers out of that jail bait ass of yours."
Aleece eyed the pill bottle over her hamburger when it was put on the table and couldn’t’ help but notice the heavy sighs. Frowning a bit around her chewing she watched him nodding as he seemed to have a certain abhorrence for the headmaster as any regular sane person around the collective. Grunting though at his next comment, after he had set down his drink she scowled.
She wasn’t wimpy…just short, and not a fighter. Okay she was wimpy.
Rolling her eyes at his offer to help her out for free burgers she shook her head and swallowed before speaking next. “I think I’ve got enough...protection around Knox, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were trying to pick up jail bait ass.”
Her comment was short and quipped but not holding any sting that it probably should have. The guy did bail her out of that potentially disastrous situation. With a sigh though she put down her burger and dug her phone out of her back pocket flipping it open to turn it one before handing it over to him. “But I suppose it couldn’t hurt to have some extra muscle around could it,” she said with a small grin clearing joking now.
The condensation of the drink bled over his knuckles as he squeezed the drink, sloshing the ice around int he paper disposable cup. He forgot that he was supposed to take his pills with it and he already damn near killed the thing. Frowning he grabbed the bottle and popped the lid away, pressing his thumb over the top and pressing the bottle to his lips, a pill slipping out between the crack between his thumb and the plastic.
After a heavy sip he slapped the top back down and pocketed it while he ignored her quip. If he went and said 'I get enough ass that I sleep with ice on my crotch' he would just come off defensive, and producing a picture of Luli would be like saying she was his girlfriend. While she was most definitely his girl they had never solidified their relationship and it ended up being one week flings after another for years.
So with a shrug he picked up his burger again and shifted it in the wax cover and prepared to take a bite. "Knox doesn't care if you get your ass whipped in public as long as they can bury the evidence and write it off as a learning experience." Colin grunted and showed a snide expression as he glanced at the window, having more than a little hate of Knox.
"You got a pen somewhere in those tight pants of yours?" Colin asked as he raised the burger and bit off one of the last corners of the burger, the mixing of flavors and textures producing an orgy of flavor on his mouth. It distracted him so much that he didn't notice the cellphone in front of him.
Colin realized and it showed as his brow jutted upward suddenly. Shaking his head while he chewed he brushed his hand off on his jeans and then grabbed the phone, his thumb tapping fairly slow compared to most who got off on text messages and sexting, but he put himself into the contacts as 'Bad Ass Scot' and slid the phone back across the table with a flick of his wrist.

This guy might be more interesting then she thought as she listened to his views of Knox but then again for anyone who cared to have opinion thought the same thing. Before she could comment though she was being asked for a pen if she had it and she gave him an expression that clearly was exasperate that he wasn’t paying enough attention that she had her phone out and waiting in her hand for him to take.
Though when he did bother to take notice she let him take it and as he took his time putting in his number she picked up her burger again to continue eating it. Aleece didn’t know exactly what to think of Colin’s comments, they weren’t exactly thought out or seemingly sexual in regard to her something she couldn’t be more happy about, but she supposed that this would be there one and only meeting despite the fact he was not in her contacts. He was a funny character and she couldn’t help but be curious about that orange bottle but it was none of her business, which she saw.
In the middle of a bite she managed to put out a hand to stop her cell phone as she slid to her, flipping it open scrolling down through her contacts to see how he’d put himself in there…
With a smirk when she swallowed Aleece shook her head and closed her phone putting it back in her pocket. “Now don’t think I’ve got money to feed you all the time with In –N-Out burger, so…my distressed calls for someone to rescue me will be far and few between,” she said as she grabbed up a couple fries to eat, her tone matter of fact and hinting if she really would ever call him for anything.
Colin raised his brow slightly and then grinned as he grabbed up the last of his burger and held it under his nose, letting the stream that still rose from the freshly cooked meat tickle his nose. "What, you get in that much trouble?" He asked with a grin, wondering just how often she would need to call him up.
Well other than that he didn't have all that much worry, she was a nice girl and all but it's not like he was going to go ut of his way to prove that she should call him up and buy him food after. Shrugging he stuffed his mouth with the last of his burger and leaned back as he ate, looking very pleased with his meal.
