He is also perpetually seen carrying around his trademark white cane where ever he goes, it can be tucked under his arm or used like a walking cane, but it never strays too far from Raphael's person. During the times when he is able to change from his uniform, he commonly dresses in smart and tailored white suites, with a splash of color in the necktie or bow tie, he always wears white and gold can never be seen upon his person, he always prefers silver, and calls it noble. Ivoire - This is Raphael's main weapon, and it is simply a dual-heated titanium allow rapier that can effectively disguised as white-lacquered cane with an ornamental silver .unicorn head on top. The sheathe is lined with lead, which blocks most x-ray scanners and metal detectors from recognizing the metallic signature underneath. The blade is honed and sharpened to the peak that modern technology can allow, and it is also lined with diamond, as if it were a giant scalpel, and finally the sheathe can be flooded with neurotoxins of varying potency. It is designed perfectly for Raphael, and any other sword he cannot use as effectively. Acupuncture Needles - Raphael, carries around with him a set of acupuncture needles, some laced with neurotoxins and some without. Personality: Raphael first seems to be every parent's dream: he is very handsome, does very well in school..that being the gravest understatement of the century, and many of the girls in his town would give anything to date him. His favourite philosopher is David Hume, his favourite medieval king is Charlemagne, his favourite Primal Scream album is Vanishing Point and that his favourite food is potatoes. He is rather well-versed in seemingly everything and is prone to spouting out lines from Shakespeare or Nietzsche. There is a dark side to his personality, however. The flip side of Raphael' charm and self-confidence is an arrogant belief in his own superiority, but no one seems to notice. Tutors, friends' parents, schoolmates and girls all idolize him, despite his sociopathic tendencies — the cruel games he plays with his family and friends, in particular those closest to him. Only those closest to him come to realize his true nature. He displays his love for "control and manipulation" and fondness for the unpredictability of the universe, comparing the lives of those around to him to the functions of subatomic particles. Even his own mother characterizes Raphael as like ice, "cold and transparent." Raphael is a very complex individual who does not easily fall into any particular category of persona. More or less he is a compilation of two desperate extremes in a person’s life, or state of mind. He can be easily described as extremely intelligent, he can partake in witty banter amongst adults, both of aggressive intelligence or not and he speaks with diction and articulation that he can be easily mistaken for someone older, if his voice wasn’t so high-pitched. He reads the newspaper vigorously never missing a detail and expresses concern with the well-being of the world-market and such. However, to completely contrast this, he is by all means still under the workings of a child’s immaturity. He enjoys picture books and prefers them as forms of leisure, sure enough he is completely capable of reading more advanced texts, but given the pliability of a situation he will revert back to choosing to read things that are more blatantly juvenile. He also tends to still watch cartoons, and also exhibits a willingness to be carried around by his nurse or by anyone else really. The sense of dependence that is inherited in a child is still lingering within his psyche. He also lives a double-life, though he is not necessarily diagnosed as being in possession of a multiple personality disorder. He is just intelligent enough to be able to distinguish that his other ventures cannot be conducted in public with his face. In the face of public media, he is known as a child-prodigy, and one of the youngest geniuses in the known world. Being one of the rare indigo children, he also possesses a much higher degree of empathy and creativity than his peers. He self-taught himself how to play the piano, and has become quite the virtuoso. It was the combination of his child’s curiosity and the innate man of science within him that pushed him to the criminal path. He was a strange sort of scientist, and his persona has varied between that of a weary, well-meaning creator to that of a "mad scientist" who is willing to do whatever he considers necessary to further his goals of evolving a better, less-brutal world. Although menacing and arrogant during his maniacal phases, Raphael always works off his desire to be responsible, creative, and kind. His sense of logic seems twisted, as he strictly adheres to possibilities only proven by fact…but does not dismiss the existence of faeries and unicorns and such, saying that “I don’t believe in them, but I believe that I can be wrong.” He would even genetically create a unicorn just to prove that unicorns can exist. He is also often cryptic, and what he says are rather ambiguous, but contrast to that he is annoyed by things that are dragged out more than they have to be, and likes things to be finished quickly and efficiently. He also displays an obvious dislike for other intelligent people, and would more often choose to hang out with people of relatively average or even low intelligence. He has been known to have said things such as ”Taking a vacation in the small pond, makes the big-fish feel that much bigger.”which points to his amusement and tendencies to enjoy being considered superior to others. His will is incredibly strong, giving him the patience to sit back and watch events unfold to his desired results. He enjoys playing with others psychologically, and also enjoys when others try to play back and fail miserably. He has a particular strength to defend against mental assaults, because he has such a developed mind. In a gist Raphael is a living paradox. Combat: [/b] Strength:E Dexterity: A Constitution: E Wisdom:S Style: Raphael is a fencer who wields a rapier. His fighting style predominantly accommodates thrusting and slashing attacks, which he specializes in. Raphael is a relatively fast fighter in terms of speed of attacks and footwork, and although the power behind it is weak he makes up for it with pinpoint precision (trained in Varma Kalai,Dim Mak, andAcupuncture)and a really sharp sword, and an arsenal of neurotoxins. He can also accurately throw acupuncture pins within a 2 meter radius around himself. Raphael has always been more of a smart and tactical fighter, always trying to be ten-steps ahead before a fight has even begun, and continually analyzing people throughout the entire combat. He also rather enjoys getting into people’s minds and employing psychological warfare. Raphael is very aware of his physical limitations, and so works to use methods to give him an edge, including lacing his weapons with neurotoxins. He is quite agile and flexible, able to go through a series of tumbles and flips with relative ease, his balance has also been honed after years of gymnastics and acrobatics. Without his sword, he makes use of quick and accurate thumb or finger strikes at the same pressure points, inflicting maximum pain with minimum force. Weaknesses: Although these thrust attacks are Raphael's main strength, they are very linear and can be sidestepped with relative ease. Raphael's range of horizontal strikes is much less diverse. His physical-combat range is only as long as his rapier, and when stripped of it he is virtually useless aside from running away. His sword is also special, since it is of a manageable weight for him, and it is especially sharp…any other blade would not be fit to his strength and hence not be as effective. His own physical prowess is somewhat limited, meaning he can't punch a person without hurting himself more in the process. He is quite fragile, although it may be a task to actually land a blow on him, he cannot take beatings and can usually be brought down by a well-connected punch. At that point, he won't fight anymore and just run away. Strengths:Raphael’s greatest strength is his seemingly super-human intelligence, by making on the spot calculations, he can compute accurately to predict the speed of trajectory of punches and projectiles. He is also a master of psychological warfare, and a very keen spot for details. He can read a normal person within seconds and effectively come up with things to say that knock them off guard, long enough for him to strike. His memory is eidetic and he can map out the list of pressure points on a person despite differing body structures, he can also familiarize himself with his surroundings in a short span of time. He is also skilled in chemistry and devises an arsenal of neurotoxins which he laces on his weapons.[/ul] History: [/url] Link 2 Link 3 ) Life Before Chula Vista The von Bielefeld family is a prestigious Danish aristocratic family which dates back at least to the Norman Conquest, they are best known for having members who dealt with the sciences and philosophies and are infamous of having stories of being one of the very first leaders of organized crime. The von Bielefeld Family has amassed a fabulous fortune through both legitimate and illegitimate means. However, these fortunes have been placed in danger by Raphael's father, Raphael von Bielefeld I, who invested a huge amount of the von Bielefeld fortune in founding new shipping lanes to the country of Russia, following the breakdown of communism there. However, the cargo ship that he was riding ran into an accident and his body was never found. With the death of her husband, Esyllt von Bielefeld became a recluse and mentally-disturbed…she began neglecting the duties of running the business and ultimately the von Bielefeld house, and all assets that came with it began a steady decline. Raphael, who was twelve at the time his father disappeared, decided to regain the von Bielefeld fortune. Raphael was a child prodigy and was known to have one of the highest IQ in Europe, his being 190 where 150 is already considered genius-level intellect. He was also borne as one of the rare Indigo-Children of the time, and was believed to be the next stage of human evolution, but of course those were only theories and hearsays and had no significant back-up. He enters into the world under the alias The Aristocrat, a criminal mastermind with rather eccentric methods. He was first and foremost a thief, stealing large amounts of money and inputting them into private accounts. One of his more memorable feats of achievement was when the country of Jhenovia (fictional) switched from their Jhenovian Crowns into the staple Euros…it was the largest single shipment of money in the world, but somehow Raphael was able to orchestrate and elaborate plan that ended with him being able to steal all the contents of 12 out of the 15 trucks that were delivering the money. It was the largest single robbery in history, and no leads were found save for a calling card that Raphael chose to leave behind- a silver unicorn figurine. Warrior The von Bielefeld family, was not without enemies...and that was why for six generations, all the members of the family were trained in the deadly arts of wielding the rapier and the ancient Indian and Chinese martial arts that involved pressure points. The von Bielefeld body guards, were forbidden to interact with their charges beyond administering protection, and each member of the von Bielefeld family, were taught to view themselves as their final line of defense. Raphael's father hired a new sensei, to add to his growing list, every year, to ensure his skills in the martial arts. There were times, when his life seemed to be more warrior than child. But it was all to make sure that he could survive in his family's line of work. Chula Vista With his father's disappearance and his mother's slow descent into insanity, Raphael decided that it was time to act, and that staying in Denmark would be completely and utterly useless for his cause. It was then that he found out about the collective and opted to join. It was true he was a troubled kid, extremely so. But his danger was different, and he baffled most tests that came his way. But it was obvious that by joining the collective, he would be set straighter and be less of a danger compared to being kept in the outside, after all he had already successfully orchestrated a criminal act that would surely go down to history. It was by his own choice however, to join the collective. He saw it as a way to make himself stronger, more potent, and more ready to face the world his father left for him. HOWEVER, a parent can name their kid whatever the fuck they want, (and there are some really weird baby names out there to prove it) so this is a moot point. We do not allow the use of weapons on school campus. If you have one, it will be confiscated and you will be beaten to within an inch of your life. So, you could theoretically keep the rapier in your dorm room at all times, but you're bound by actual OOC rules not just IC rules, to not be able to use it. So I'd edit the mentioning of it in your fighting style out, or at least place greater emphasis on your hand-to-hand abilities. This also holds true for the poisoned needles. We may be able to make some sort of concession for out-of-school business, but I must speak with the rest of staff for that. Your grades are incorrect. If you've read the section in the rules on your stats/grades/whatever, you'll see that a new character has 12 advancements to spend from the starting point of F's across the board. You've used 15 to reach your desired grades. Also, you cannot actually attain A or S rank in any one attribute until you've hit 500 or 750 posts, respectively. So, the best you're looking at would be STR: E DEX: B CON: E WIS: B And you would have two ranks left over, or you could use those ranks right now bolster one of non-B attributes. In your history, you use a fictional country of Jhenovia. This RP takes place, geographically and spatially, in a universe that is nearly identical to our own, so there would be no such country. Finally, while I'm not at all unaware or disbelieving of the likes of "Child prodigies," I'm not sure I would want to approve a character who applies the term so much. Technically, you could call any one of the player-character students a child prodigy in their own right, as they all do things to have them stand out from the NPCs that populate the school. The problem I have is that Raphael's brand of genius seems to transcend mere brains on the attempt of raising him to super-humanity or even godhood. Since we attempt to stick to as much realism as we possibly can with kids running around kung-fu kicking the crap out of each other, I don't think this will go over too well. However, I'm not averse to trying, and so I'll talk to staff about these things. I'll make sure to PM you when everything's been settled. The grades still need to be fixed to be within our guidelines. No A or S ranks until 500 and 750 posts, respectively. The sword and weapons, are allowed, but use extreme caution, if you're caught with weapons on campus, you'll have to deal with my character and that won't be fun for anyone. Okay, I'm lying, it'll be great fun for me, but Raph won't like it. We're fine with you being a genius and believing yourself to be an 'Indigo Child', however, what we're not fine with is being a criminal mastermind at such a young age. You can be a budding criminal mastermind, but we don't like the fact that you single-handedly pulled off the world's largest heist. So take that part out, fix your history accordingly, and let me know. Then we can look again and see how we feel about it.
