The warm California sun embraced the streets of Chula Vista as a large peace-loving Samoan giant strolled through through town with a simple mission on his mind. Time to get rid of this mop. It was getting a lot hotter as the seasons changed and Afano's long black hair was continuously getting in the way.

Seeing in class, fighting the school gangs, but most importantly it got in the way of his job. Afano worked for the local underground fighting fed called San Diego Championship Fighters League, or SDCFL.

The Samoan Wrecking Ball waltzed into the Chula Vista local barbershop/salon. It was a simple building that treated all hair needs. Color, cut, design, everything from simplicity to complete complexity. Afano just need to take off about a foot of hair and then maybe a quick buzz.

A quick look around showed Afano the few people around. Some were older, some children, but most of the people there, workers included, were Collective students. Afano waited for a free hair dresser to arrange his walk in. Afano was directed to a free chair and told to wait a few minutes.

The large Samoan walked over to his black leather hair chair. Afano gently sat down as his weight creaked the chair and the title floor seemed to lower. Afano looked to his left to see somebody he recognized from the collective. Having to wait a few minutes Afano decided to open up some conversation.

Afano turned his head and spoke calmly, yet in a friendly manner to the person beside him. "So, what are ya in for?"

Aleece sat in the barber chair looking at her reflection her mouth open in disbelief, no she was gapping at the butcher chop down to her head. She had just wanted a simple trim...something that would take the weight off her thick hair because it was so hot, but no...this was no simple trim, not even a few short inches. Her once long, wavy hair, was cropped just at her chin and around her ears, it left her head feeling all to light.

She had been turned around during the whole thing so when the beautician was done and she turned her around...she was shocked alright. Aleece embarrassingly felt her face heat up and her eyes prickle as she lifted a hand to finger the short ends of her hair. For god sakes she knew it was just hair but she had never gotten it cut shorter then her shoulders. She liked it longer, but this made her look like a guy!

It was styled femininely and there was no mistaken her for the opposite gender but she was attached to her longer locks and this was like cutting off an arm. Dissatisfaction was clearly etched on her face her eyes growing red from the unshed tears building up and she nearly jerked when she felt the woman who had killed her hair on her shoulder.

"Whats the matter hun? Don't you like it?"

Slowly Aleece shook her head, she really, really didn't like it and as juvenile and vain as it sounded she thought she looked hideous. "No," she breathed out, "its fine..."

The woman obviously saw her distress and instantly tried to console her drawing attention from near by workers and people alike much to her added discomfiture.

Jeanette felt uncomfortable in the hot barber shop... it didn't sit right with her, last haircut she had recieved was in france and it had been from a professional hairstylist and not one of these halfwit and half educated street magicians as these saloon workers seemed to be. She had an itch to scratch their eyes out and claim that they properly would do their work better now.
what made matters worse was the girl besides of her's reaction, she seemed less than pleased with the result of her little 'beautyfication' Jeanette of course turned her head to divert the attention that way and caught eye of the giant of a man on the opposite side of the girl, eyes widened for a moment but then as the hair stylist voiced her worry. Jeanette bit her lowerlip from speaking out and simply listened to the croaked response of the victim of the hairy murder... she smiled sweetly and stood up slowly, shooing the employee away and placing her soft hands upon the shoulders of the girl, thick french accent cutting through the air as she spoke

"mon cheri, you look fabelous..... what a bold move!"
her eyes fell to the mass of hair on the floor as to explain before she continued
"i would never have been so brave, you really know how to change yourself up fpr the better mon petite! I envy you!"

She smiled softly, nodding to agree with her own words, she actually did love the look and she would never have daired to do that with her own hair, despite she hated the birds nest she called hair... at least she had a good colour

but this girl's hair was wonderful when combined with the features of her face, simply magnificent

The tall white gothic Irishman walked in through the nice maple wood door as the old fashion bell rung above his head announcing his entrance. Roth took a nice long look around to see three prominent figures surrounding the barber chairs around the left side of the building. The larger than life Afano that Roth had meet in the ring of SDCFL, and two women from the collective. One who was obviously upset with her new very short hair, and a dazzling French woman who had a thick French accent trying her best to console the other woman.

Roth looked to the desk and ordered his won hair appointment. His long straight black hair was getting in his way again and needed a few inches off so it was about level with his neck. Roth saw a few chairs open and a few hairdressers were on a smoke break outside. Roth got seated at a station on the left with the other three joining their little party there.

"Hey Afano, getting a cut I see" Roth walked by him who was sitting in the middle with a empty seat between the Samoan and the French woman. Roth made himself comfortable between the two and began to start up some idle chatter.

"So what you all getting today? Cut, color, wash, shave. This place does shaving right?" With a smile on his face Roth then leaned forward over facing the girl who had the shortest hair there. He thought about saying something about it, but couldn't find the right words.

The barbers chair creaked as Afano made a few turning adjustments. The Gargantuan Samoan was definitely out of place with the two beautiful ladies, and his in ring rival, Roth. Afano watched as the conversations took place around him. All of them simply ignoring his comment began to piss him off. It was already hot in the place and Afano just wanted his goddamn hair cut.

He turned his head over to the French woman and then back to Roth, both of whom were on his left side. Roth began to make small talk. As much he wanted to get out of there, he might as well make his time there enjoyable.

"Well I'm getting rid of the mop here"

Afnao brushed his hand through his hair pushing it all back and out of his face revealing his round face and large nose. Afano wasn't the best looking guy in the world, but he worked with what he was given. And Afano was given a large strong body that he got paid for using at SDCFL. Afano got paid, and when you support yourself and live in a free dorm. Afano was lucky he had enough to get this damn haircut.

Aleece had been so wrapped up with her own turmoil of her butchered hair she hadn't heard anyone speaking to her (her mind unconsciously brushing off any conversation that might have been directed at her as if it had been for someone else) not recognizing really anyone though she knew a few people in there at the moment were from the collective. It was only when someone came up to her, a tall red head, and placed a hand on her shoulder.

Her thickly accented words doing nothing to make her feel better, if anything it made her feel immensely childish right then and she ducked her head down letting out a breath, her fingers coming up once more to run through the strangely short hairs at the back of her neck. But it did snap her out of it somewhat, and made something familiar about her tingle at the back of her mind. She had heard that voice somewhere...hell as she turned a bit to get a better look she realized the other woman was familiar...

Looking to the side she took a breath and forced her lips to quirk up casually as she dared another look at herself and almost grimaced. "Thank you," she said finally knowing she'd have to suck it up and deal with it. Good thing...at least she wouldn't have to worry about putting her hair into a bun to keep her hair off her collar every morning just to keep with in dress code regulations. "I guess it'll...grow on me."

Looking up she smiled a bit weakly to the French woman and stood digging into her pocket for the cash she had withdrawn earlier that day. When she turned to look for the beautician she counted out the forty it cost for the cut wash and style. The hair dresser walked back up with an apologetic look on her face but Aleece noticed she didn't have any qualms about taking her money.

"Listen, how about I set you up with a free manicure. I feel awful about this..." the girl somewhat older then her gestured to her hair, and even if the cut was good and worth the money it hadn't been what she had wanted. Shaking her head Aleece held up a hand to protest but before she could, her hand was being taken and directed a station in the back. She hadn't even thought they offered that here...

When she was seated, Aleece finally got the chance to look around a feeling of growing awkwardness creeping up on her and making her want to twitch. With the cursory glance she noticed that even if some of people in the shop were from the collective they didn't attend Knox...so she didn't know them personally or at all...

Leaning a little onto the arm of her chair she tipped her head a bit curiously, "sorry...but do I know you?"

Her question was directed at the French girl, a little louder to be heard over the idle chitchat as she was now a bit away from her.

OOC: yo! Rothy boy! we doing this before or after the beach thread? cause logic dictates they can't be at the same time

Jeanette didn't like the hustle and bustle about her, she liked being among people but she didn't like them talking over each another, she had smiled and informed the girl that it was in no way any trouble for her but fell silent as she paid and hence was offered something that made Jeanette envious... she wouldn't complain if she recieved the same treatment, but money was sparse at the moment, something she hoped her recent enrollment with the Wonderland organisation could help change

She shifted her weight and stepped back to let the girl be led away, then motioned for her own hairdresser to change to a seat located closer to the girl, but still within earshot of the two men, they were tall and muscular... both within her age range too, they could be useful... Settling down in the chair, she adjusted herself into a comfortable position, crossing her legs and leaning back, her head tilted backwards to look towards the girl as she was adressed.... had they seen one another before? She had the same nagging thought, but it wasn't very strong... and from where she really couldn't place... searching her memory for a moment, she parted her lips and rolled an "err" for a moment, camouflaging it as if she was searching for the correct english word

"pardon moi mademoiselle.... but i cannot seem to recall it.... i think so, oui..."

she drew the oui as well, she really wasnt very sure.... She remember a geeky girl at the starbucks, but the hair made it hard, very hard to recognise her

Aleece nodded slowly then after she was answered, and she was sure of it now, but it was her natural almost insatiable curiosity that made her break her number one rule since founding Wonderland. Smiling apologetically she didn't look away from the woman, "I'm sorry...I can’t explain myself, I’m afraid, because I’m not myself you see."

It was almost an ambiguous thing to say to her but she watched her reaction keenly, interested in seeing even the slightest twitch of a reaction. There was no doubt in her mind that this was the Duchess but she wanted to see how she would react...if at all, then again Aleece tended to over think things, so she could be barking up the wrong tree.

So...it would all depend on the French woman's next comment really. If the answer wasn't favorable all she had left was to sit back and get the manicure she didn't want and continue on with her day...

(ooc: I spit at your "logic"....before the beach I guess)

The sun started it's afternoon run down the sky as it glared from the windows into the barbershop. The two girls were now closer together and the two men were sitting beside each other. Roth watched the door as three hairdressers walked in from their smoke break and were now ready to earn all of their money. The Irish gothic wrestler leaned back in his chair and faced his Samoan rival.

"So, you going bald, or just short haired?"

Roth was a friendly person once you got to know him. It was only when someone picked something with him that you would see his bad side. You definitely didn't want to see his bade side. The hairdresser came over to Roth and simply asked what he wanted.

"Just and inch or two, level with my neck. And while were at it I could use a color, black."

Shifting around in his chair Roth pushed his hand through his hair while talking. He was naturally a blonde, but the look never suited him. He liked it long and black, it just suited him too well.

Jeanette's suspicions all proved right... that catchphrase left nothing for doubt.... She smiled sweetly for herself as a hairdresser approached her and approvingly commented upon Jeanette's hair.... Jeanette had heard that before, she kept her hair in as good a condition as she could. It was an important part of her looks after all... and Jeanette had few traits as powerful as her looks. Leaning her head back, she looked upon Alice and smiled softly

"just a moment" her attentions went to the hairdresser "just the tips mademoiselle.... i like it just as it is"

The hairdresser nodded and Jeanette returned to her partner in crime

"Alice, Mon Cheri... i'm so glad to see you after that conversation we had over the net.... i must say! you look absolutetly stunning!"

she smiled widely again... the thought of just playing ignorant had occured to her, but she wanted Alice to trust her... really trust her, she could use a friend and even more importantly... she could use a contact and hacker as good as this girl

Aleece hadn’t been prepared to be called, Alice, especially to her face and in public, but she quickly collected herself when she realized not a whole lot of people knew that name and it sounded just like any other regular name at that…

Nodding she raised an eyebrow at the stunning part, feeling absolutely doubtful about that one but not saying anything to dissuade her. “Hmm, it certainly is good to see you as well…”

Well she couldn’t very well call her by her code name out in public unlike “Alice”, hers would get a few raised eyebrows more then likely. Looking to the girl that sat down across from her and gestured for her sit closer so she could begin, Aleece continued talking, casually aware of the other people around them.

“So I got the most interesting e-mail just this morning. I’ll have to remember to share it with you…” she said slowly as she looked at the girl working on her nails and giving her fingers a look of disapproval. So she had a bad habit of biting them every once in a while…

She had gotten a potential new member to join but the contact had done nothing more then express his interest in Wonderland, and to top it off another offer came in for a job. This one was a little more demanding then the last and with a possibility to utilize the Duchesses talents once again.

"sure! that would be great.... you always find the funniest things online"

Jeanette didn't even know if she was lying.... but 'Alice' didn't exactly look like she was the most fun loving person, but looks could be deceiving. She knew from herself, that was no denying that. Jeanette shifted slightly in the chair, pondering how to continue this conversation without arousing suspicion.... then she remembered the drastic change in 'Alice's' hair... with a hint of sympathy she took hold of what she had and continued the conversation, as everything else would be too strange

"I really do like what you've done with your hair... it suits you a lot, makes you kinda hot actually"

she winked teasingly, but there was no doubting that she meant what she said.... Jeanette did like the look, and she liked the overall looks of the girl, she just needed to be a bit more daring... and a few other things, but nobody was perfect, not even herself

"My hair is just as annoying as always... i don't know what to do with it anymore, i like it the way it is but... i kinda need something new, you know?"

Aleece quirked an eyebrow even though she wasn’t looking her way anymore and grinned a bit when she went on saying how she found the most funny things on the internet. Well that was one way to agree that she had found a job and she was interested in it.

“Well I can forward you what was sent me then later on,” she said evenly before she nodded and listening to her comments on her hair again. Really she doubted that she looked hot. Aleece wouldn’t categorize herself like that even on a good day. She did look her acquaintances way and raised an eyebrow when she said she needed something new.

Now she was beautiful, confidently curved and proportioned, and her long red curls falling in pleasing rings, that was defiantly eye catching and appealing. With a breath Aleece looked away and shook her head, there was plenty about the ‘Duchess’ that was envy worthy. One thing she didn’t want to do was get so caught up in the word games especially out in the open with so many people around.

“I have a good feeling that more opportunities will be opening up for you here soon for that to be possible,” she said casually looking back at the woman doing her nails and jerk a bit managing not to make a noise when she was particularly rough with her cuticles. This is why she didn’t indulge in beautifying...Torture was more like it.

(ooc: I guess the creator has left the building.)

Roth watched the two girls from the corner of his deep green eyes. His hair dresser began to slather his hair in a dark coating. She turned his chair around so he was now facing to two woman talking to each other. Roth listened intently at their conversation. Something about emails and weird quotes to each other. As he was about to join the two's conversation he was swung around again by the hair dresser.

The Irish wrestler now watched the two from the mirror instead of focusing on his hair. The dye was now taking it;s time to settle in as he continued to watch the two. Their mild conversation was intriguing. Assignments and more email forwarding. They tried to sugarcoat it with small talk, but even Roth could point out the obvious...usualy. Roth's eyes showed massive curiosity as he was swung around again now facing the two girls.

"If I didn't know any better I'd say you two were planning to bomb the school or something. Internet secrecy and what not."

Roth smiled at the two waiting for the attention as he was swung a round for a third freaking time. The hairdresser, listening to her iPod, was now adding a little touch up dye here and their as Roth watched the two again from the mirror.
