(OOC: If no one from the house replies, I'll continue it once I figure a decent amount of time has passed. Who knows there may be a more proper opening later.)

For someone with his general tendency to be scared he had slept well. As well as he could while trying to keep an eye on the door, and window while cradling a knife under his pillow. He had come in early the night before. Generally a person would want to introduce themselves, he however preferred to merely go to his room.

He hadn't really even been sure if anyone saw him come in, if possible he'd rather they barely knew he lived there now. He would take to bed early, knowing his first day of proper school was coming the following day. Waking up early he had gone to the kitchen and quickly cooked a hamburger patty for breakfast. Though the finished product could hardly be considered cooked.

It was essentially a bloodied hunk of ground beef with lightly browned edges. Though he had been fed raw ground beef for so long one would think he'd hate it, he somehow grew attached to it. It was just a piece of the rather scrambled puzzle in his mind. Along with the meat a small hunk of French bread would sit on the plastic plate he wanted to get back to the minor safety of his room.

As quickly as he could he would make an effort to return to his room. He'd check around corners and move cautiously every step of the way. He wasn't sure how he'd react if he met someone on the way. After all he was in such a hurry to get the food then return to his room before the others awoke he had only put on a pair of jeans. The only comfort to his mostly unclothed form rested on his two cutting utensils that sat in either pocket.

With a slight moan and feeling the distinct chill of having no blanket instead of being relatively warm Luli woke up, a pounding headache and an aching body to accompany her discomfiture. It was the morning after Colin...had given her that whipping as well...

Moving a bit stiffly she sent her boyfriend a glare as she shuffled out of bed noticing that he didn't a problem with the covers. With a quite sigh she manged to make her way gingerly to the door and shut it quietly. Scrubbing her eyes lightly she padded her way down the hall to the living room hiding a small wince behind her fingers as she scrubbed her eyes. The smell of...cooking or cooked food made her pause, and lift her head, that smell of cooked grease turning her stomach from her hangover, but glare nonetheless.

Now Torque was rarely around and she had just left the only other male in the house, in bed, so she was instantly cautious not even giving thought to her state of dress...the lacy boy cut panties and matching cami the only thing really...covering her. Reaching for the closet door without thinking she opened it to produce a baseball bat, the aluminum slugger something that was Colin's.

Her fingers tensed around the handle but she instantly was struck dumb to see some kid making his way down toward her, carrying...something that didn't even look edible. Pursing her lips it took a moment to realize this must have been their fourth roommate, and she grunted lightly.

"Hope you cleaned up after yourself..." she said, her voice still clogged with sleep and her eyes half lidded from not even being remotely awake.

There are times in a situation where certain things grab your attention quicker than others. In this case is was the bat that would loom in his mind. The first reaction of fear had him draw back from what he would then notice to be a slightly smaller person. It would take a few more moments of silence and rigid stillness to process everything, this entire time he would have a deer in the head lights appearance.

This threatening person, was one of those female things. Sure he knew what they were, seen a few over his life. Yet, not exactly in this manner and it was frightening and for some strange reason exciting. Though there were also strange feelings brewing in him.

Very present was a great deal of shame, not something he was that estranged from. However it had never made him want to hide his body as greatly as it did now. If he thought the plate could give him some form of cover, he'd have no issue dropping his food to cover himself. Though instead he would just draw his left arm holding the plate slightly in front of himself.

His right hand now in his pocket gripped at the knife so hard his palm was beginning to hurt. After 25 seconds of agonizingly painful silence he opened his mouth. Though the words were caught in his throat, it was painful. Thinking of it, it was much like having the jaws of a large dog clenching on the area. A feeling he would know from first hand experience, or first neck experience as the case may be.

Feeling the futility of trying to speak he would lick his lip before closing his mouth which was feeling very dry. Now making only a slow nod he would make a reply to her question which seemed to have been asked a century ago. Having had his fill of bonding time with her he started to go backward to the kitchen. Slow calculated steps never looking away.

Though this odd display would seem extremely unfriendly it was a great improvement from his past. At one time he would of tried to gut her, room mate or not. Once he got to the kitchen he'd back over to the sink. Though not yet feeling comfortable enough to take a drink he kept an eye on the doorway, to see if she had followed.

Luli watched with a rather detached fascination as the guy in front of her with no shirt on seemed to guard himself...or rather his food...like she wanted either. An eyebrow slowly climbed up her forehead as she waited for him to answer and got nothing, something about his gestures coming off as nervous and when he turned finally starting to the kitchen once again she looked to the side and shook her head.

It was to early to try and figure out some weird roommate, so with a yawn she replaced the bat in the closet and ran a hand through her head giving a small stretch as she ambled into the kitchen as well, the fridge her destination. Luli didn't pay the kid any mind as she pulled the white door to the Frigidaire open and grabbed a bottle of water. With a small push she closed the door and leaned back against the counter for a moment shutting her eyes as if to work up enough energy to bother with the water she had gotten.

With another sigh and feeling distinctly dehydrated she licked her lips and swallowed thickly, the turn of her stomach that came after a night of drinking she hurried to take a long pull as she wondered to the table sitting down heavily. Looking over at the guy with a small frown, speculative she slumped in her chair.

"Listen," she said looping an arm over the back of it. "I don't want bugs here...so try not to eat in your room..."

Luli knew to well male habits and not picking up behind themselves and she didn't put much faith in any of them no matter who to be able to take a plate or cup back to the sink. She would have popped off with something like her not being this guys mother or nanny and she wouldn't be cleaning up after him, but she settled for taking another drink instead.

Watching every step she took, the feelings turned his stomach. If nothing else the weapon was out of the way. Though he instinctively gave her a very pointed once over look. She could be hiding a weapon, he was after all. Of all the movements the one that relaxed him the most was her turning her back to him, something he enjoyed for some peculiar reason. The relaxation from that fact her movements were ones that left her vulnerable even in his presence.

He did know it could be a ploy, though at the moment it brought his guard down significantly. Reluctantly removing his hand from the knife and his pocket he would take an other step back before looking through the cabinets. Finding a cup of any sort he withdrew it and filled it from the sink. This was merely for appearance, his previous overseers would shun upon him drinking from his hand.

With his slightly resolved confidence he walked toward the table. At first setting the glass down then the plate he would pull the chair out. It was the spot at the table furthest from her, and though his sense said to still be scared he felt compelled to sit. Having mulled over her statement for a minute he was now a little concerned if he may have done something strange.

Now getting the first words out in this new setting it would be a mix of crackling fear and utter bewilderment. "Should, I eat outside then?" One might think he was joking if not for the widening of his eyes and raised brow, similar to a child trying to learn something. Apparently her statement had somehow broke his idea of what was taught to him of eating etiquette.

He hadn't even taken to sitting, obviously wanting an answer before he did something foolish. Though if he was less ignorant he would know he already had. As he waited for her answer, without the plate his fairly naked state came to his mind again. The tips and outer rim of every scar on his body beginning to itch.

Even on his neck the puncture scars now felt like fresh bug bites instead of ancient history. His right arm still loose at his side his left would come up to his neck. Every moment he was completely focused waiting for an attack that may never come, his muscles frequently tensed and loosened because of it. He would scratch his neck slowly now, as if he was in the presence of a wild beast that if he moved suddenly would pounce.

When this guy finally came over with a glass of water and his food she was in the middle of getting a drink, her slightly red eyes narrowing at his plate unable to help but pause at the sight of it. It was enough to make make what was on her stomach turn again but swallowing that slightly sick feeling she tipped her head back and took another drink only to choke on it promptly at his question. Bringing the back of her hand to her lips she looked at him for a moment trying to figure out if he was serious or not.

It was his expression that told her he was in fact serious, and with a slightly disbelieving look - not really sure what to say she shook her head.

"No...you don't have to eat outside unless you want to...just don't eat in your room." Sighing once again she pushed her water away from her a little and looked at his plate again unable to take it any longer.

"What is that? Is that...hamburger?" Looking at him she raised an eyebrow as if to ask seriously?! before rolling her eyes and gesturing for him to sit then standing herself. "Listen I don't know what that is supposed to be or if you are on some freaky three day diet...but it doesn't even looked cooked."

Still feeling the ache in her legs and feet unconcerned though at the bruises that were surely there she made her way back to the fridge and pulled it open. Taking out the eggs and bacon as well as a roll of biscuits, she her head to look over at him from over her shoulder giving him pointed look.

"Don't eat that crap," she said turning around to the stove, muttering under breath something about, 'weirdos trying to give themselves E. coli'. Dumping her load on the counter she opened the cabinet by the stove and pulled out a sheet pan and frying pan pausing with a sigh when she saw the one he had apparently used before pushing it to the back and setting up, then turning the oven on.

She hated cooking so early especially with a hangover but she didn't want some kid dieing from food poisoning in her house, but she could and wasn't bad either. Cracking open the buttermilk biscuits she spread them on the sheet pan one by one before shoving them in and turning to the bacon. Tearing the package open she flipped on the stove top and put her pan on the electric burner. Luli wasn't sure how much he would eat but she was sure that as soon as Colin smelled it cooking he'd wake up too...so she went ahead and resolved herself to make it all.

When the fatty strips of pig started to sizzle she reached for a drawer to grab a fork and turned briefly to look at him. "So...whats your name?"

Not eating in his room, this was a strange rule. In all of his past experiences he had taken his food in what would be considered his room. First the cell, with it's bar was his dwelling, then in the asylum they told him he was to dangerous to eat with others. What had changed that made this simple act so different.

"Hamburger? ... That's an other name for ground beef, right? Cause that's what it is."

Her facial motions, the rolling of her eyes and her movements were very peculiar to him. It was only through ponderous thought he decided they were in fact something that must be natural to a normal human. Yet the meaning itself was beyond his understanding. For a moment he contemplated doing them himself to try and understand.

Pushing the thought to the side he tried to understand why she gave his food a name he only heard used in terms of waste. Once again moving so he was on the far side of the table from her he sat with it in front of him. Leaning forward he sniffed at the plate lightly. It did not have the same smell, and the coloration would be one he'd never seen on the substance before.

Still confused he quickly ate half of the food on his plate before he got up to throw the rest away. It was simple, though he didn't want to anger her he needed the nourishment. It was not in his best interest to be without something in his stomach. The fact she was cooking for him completely oblivious to him.

Sitting once more after he had cleaned off the plate, his last overseers said this was a must. Then came a question he had so little understand for. People had such a lust for this thing called a name. He had one for only a few years now and he was already sick of it. Though they made sure he knew it wasn't his 'real' name, whatever that meant.

So to such a simple question he gave an excessive answer. "They said I had one, when I was little. They think. Though they call my John Doe now. Or JD for short."

She turned in time to see him dump what looked to be half the plate and walked to the trash can herself looking at him slightly exasperated. "Didn't I say not to eat that? Do you not see me barefoot and in front of this stove?"

Why didn't guys listen to anything that was told to them? Shaking her head she went back to the stove and flipped the bacon once with the fork before putting the utensil down and reaching for a bowl in the cabinet. She didn't know if he was trying to be a smart ass with her or not but she brushed it off not really wanting to deal with the strange customs of someone she didn't, point was he was here and he was going to have to deal with everything that went on here.

Setting the bowl by the carton of eggs she cracked the remaining amount left, which was about a half a dozen, one by one they were cracked into the bowl and the shells replaced where she had gotten them from. When Luli was done she reached for the fridge door one more time and searched for the butter. She was particular about the food she ate, how it was cooked and how it tasted, so if this guy didn't like it he could crawl back to his room for all she cared, but that mess he had fixed originally wasn't going to fly around her.

Getting a clean spoon she didn't bother measuring anything - instead eying about a tablespoon of the margarine and pushed it off into the uncooked eggs. Dumping the spoon in the sink she grabbed another fork and beat the mixture, pausing only to grab the salt and pepper. Luli didn't even pause when he answered her question though she found it some what of an odd thing to say, rather how he said. They said I had one, when I was little. Well she wasn't going to ask, not her business.

"Well JD, I'm Luli," when the eggs were liquid and slightly foamy she stopped so she could go for another pan, setting it on the stove and reaching up for the nonstick cooking spray. "And let me tell you, if you get hungry...don't try and cook again. I'll make you something, or hell even buy you something. That atrocity that you sat down with looked lethal for not only your body but mine for even being in the same room with it."

Giving the smaller pan a quick spray she turned on the second burner and let it get hot enough as she went about getting a plate and grabbing some napkins.

"I'm almost wary to ask you if you know how to make a simple pot of coffee..." She said some of grouchiness leaving her the more she woke up and showing her better mood by grinning a little. Picking up the fork she had left on the stove she poked at the bacon before turning it again. By the time they would get done the eggs and biscuits would be too. Taking a step over to the side she dumped the bowl of waiting eggs into the hot pan before pulling out the drawer next to her to get a spatula.

At her first comment about the food he made, he retracted. Though he remained in the seat his posture would change to more reserved. Much like a dog being scolded his head would lower while his chest pulled back. This was more highlighted by his shoulders being further ahead than his chest, his eyes now cast slightly downward.

With the more loose tone of her introducing herself he would raise his head slightly. His eyes watching her cook with what was most likely amazement. His cooking skill was limited to, place a pan under food, place pan on fire. Otherwise the food tended to scuff up the stove and people, or him at least, would get hit for that.

Then her advice about his cooking was pretty much just poked at him and fell from his def ears to the floor. It wasn't that he wouldn't appreciate her to cook for him. He merely didn't understand. The food he made was sustenance, and served to keep him alive well enough.

How could he view food as anything other than mere nutrition, all he'd ever had to eat was basically shoved upon him. The raw meat, the moldy bread and the occasional nearly rotted fruit of his first life. Then the oatmeal and hospital slop of his more recent life. The first life not caring for him, the 2nd fearing to ever give him a fork or knife to eat proper food with.

Though his mannerisms very much like a pet wouldn't leave him silent, he decided to appease her. "I'm sorry, I'll try not to do that again." Perhaps not as effective as a dog licking it's master's palm, but the same general idea. Now he pondered her silence about his past, it was a nice change of pace.

Almost everyone in the past two years he ever met drew great attention to his first life. With her mannerisms being so uncharacteristically calm around him he started to become even more fearful. Perhaps as with many people he seemed to see these days she did not understand the true evil of this world. Obviously this was not the true world, he had experienced it to little for that to be true.

Now his arms crossed his chest as the cold of the room started to twinge at his body. Looking down at himself, for the first time dropping his guard for a moment he looked at the scars. Reminders that made him immediately more alert. Sitting up again he looked about the room, and out the windows seeking the looming danger he always was in fear of.

The comment about coffee basically went unheard. Though had he have processed the words they meant nothing to him. Coffee was nothing more than a word he saw from time to time in text. The actual embodiment of it being something he could only guess at.

So he stayed there remaining fidgety and fighting the inviting aroma of the food. As well as the view of the girl that pleased him for unknown reasons. The sooner he could return to his room the better. Outside those walls he felt to vulnerable.

Luli's only response was to shake her head, she almost felt like she was dealing with a child of ten not what looked to be a high school student. Quietly she scrambled the eggs in the pan satisfied with the light brown color coming to the eggs and she pushed them around - just a few more minutes and they would be done, so she took the time to grab a plate to put them on and turned to the bacon. They looked good even to her at the moment she turned off the burners for both pans and started to plate up greasy pig strips.

With a sigh when she finished with that she served up the eggs next after making sure they were done all the way through. Luli would have preferred medium over easy rather then scrambled but egg was egg and this just happened to be the easiest and quickest. Pushing the pans to the a spot not on a hot burner she went to the coffee pot on the island counter and went about making the coffee real quick. When she closed the top she stretched lightly and massaged the back of her neck as she turned to the fridge again.

Sniffing and staring inside dully she scanned over the condiments for the preserve (she hated jelly) pulling it out along with the half gallon carton of milk she straightened and pushed the door closed with her foot as she went to the cabinet again to get a couple of plates. Luli thought she did pretty good balancing it all as she brought it to the table and set it down putting a plate in front of JD then one in her spot, with the strawberry preserve and milk between them. Going back to the counter she fished out a couple forks got a couple of cups, stacking them together and putting the utensils in the top one. With that in the crook of her arm she was able to carry both plates of eggs and bacon.

When she put it down she grunted when the smell of her biscuits got her nose. Rushing a bit she snatched up a potholder and yanked open the door to pull the sheet pan out. After a close inspection she saw that it was probably just the pan that had smelled a little burned and thankfully the biscuits weren't. She didn't feel like toast now...At this point her actions seemed tedious, as she reached for another plate and quickly got the piping hot bread to it so she could bring it to the table.

Finally making her way over she sat down with a sigh and arranged the food between them. She handed over a plate along with a fork, but before she handed over the glass she poured the milk into one, a habit she had when she served for Colin. Not that he wasn't capable of doing it himself, but...

Putting it down in front of JD she raised an eyebrow. "Well...I'm not going to serve your food, dig in.." Without waiting she did so herself, grabbing a couple strips of bacon along with a healthy serving of eggs.
