If you are a meta-human, you may choose to have more than one power. This however means your powers will be halved. Likewise the more powers you add, the weaker they all become individually. So choose wisely!

That said, there are several ways to have acquired a power:

Natural Powers: Natural powers are powers that you were either born with (if you're younger than 15), or suddenly received about 15 years ago. They are the result of Jeffy changing the world. People with natural powers only face the challenges of learning to control them when they are new, and for more experienced users, how to use them in new ways.

Contract Powers: Contract powers are generally the same as natural powers. The user faces only the difficulty in controlling them when they are new. Contract powers occur when a sentient power agrees to merge with a human or even with a meta-human. The power merges perfectly with the human. If you are a meta-human however, merging with an additional power causes the effectiveness of both to be halved.

Forced Powers: Forced powers are when a human or meta-human kills the sentient power to gain their ability. Unlike the other two, the power does not merge fully, it only shares your body. Sentient powers do not like this process and will often fight its host. The person may find their powers do not always react in the way they wish them to. In a matter of self-preservation, the power will cooperate as the host body dying means their own deaths. Like the contract powers, if a meta-human kills a sentient power to gain an extra one, the powers are halved and so on.


About sentient powers: Sentient powers are strange creatures born from LIFE. Several years ago LIFE attempted to rebalance the world by removing powers from within meta-humans. The result of this were powers taking various shapes. Some sentient powers are humanoid, some take the shape of objects (such as books). They always in some way represent their power, however it is not always obvious.

Most of the time sentient powers appear passive and emotionless. Those are powers born from people who did not wish to lose them. Powers with goals and personality however were born from people who willingly allowed LIFE to remove the power. The latter are more difficult to make contracts with, and often are harder to control if killed.
