"The point isn't that we brought him in. It's that people have done much, much worse, but they have still turned out to be good people. Good agents. Friends."
He grumbles, taking a seat of his own.
"Of course its my problem. You're my best friend. I came and offered this information to you because I knew you would want to know. I respected Dain and know how much you did. Of course I wouldn't want you to throw that all away."
"Since I've told you about this, it's been being mad at me for 'hiding it', and mad at the agents for being the spawn of it, you bitter asshole. You are making too big of a deal out of it. If I'm that bad of a friend and brother, you're one shitty son."

"Yeah, because it's unreasonable for me not to want the living, breathing reminders of my parents infidelity to be transferred to someone else's academy. It's unreasonable that you couldn't just fucking tell me when those kids were accepted here, instead of waiting until I'd already met with them. Hell, it's unreasonable that you couldn't just fucking tell me yourself, instead of acting all coy and having me call Aaliyah to find out."
"They were already accepted when Aaliyah called me you toolbox! Why didn't you check their files? That's your job! As soon as I erased it from the record I came to you. Don't give me all this bullshit. Aaliyah's the one who should tell you. Not me."
John shakes his head as Jack orders him to leave.
"Whatever."
He turns to head out, flipping Jack the bird!

She hurries forward and sits down, leaning forward, and it's clear she's more concerned and confused than before!
"But the name plate? It's supposed to be Gavyns..!" That was all she knew him as. The questions continue to bubble up! "Long few weeks? What's been going on? You look way more tired than..! Than normal, I mean. Way more."
There's careful emphasis on those last two words, aware she kinda said he doesn't look great normally.
"I don't sleep, now more than ever. My children were attacked by some sort of nightmare-feeding metahuman. I've learned disturbing news about my father which contradicts nearly everything I knew about him, which makes me want to distance myself from him."
He can't keep smiling anymore.
"My supposedly best friend has decided he's going rant and take issue with every single thing I do at this point, despite the fact that this is probably the only time I would ever need his support and understanding on something. So, yes, I'm having a very hard time right now, kiddo."
Bianca's expression crumbles at the first bit, but by the time he finishes even that, she looks more surprised than bewildered, though there's still plenty of that, too.
"Uncle John is?" Her mouth twists in a frown. That wasn't right. What could have happened with Dain? He had been dead for practically sixteen years. She shifts a little, torn over whether or not to ask.
But, then, she decides on something better, first.
"I know it doesn't make everything better, but, want a hug?"
Bee stares back a moment or two, and leans back as he shakes his head.
And then his words contradict that.
What.
She doesn't complain, though, and gets up to skirt around the desk to give him said hug, squeezing tight! What he really needed was sleep, and the thing that was more tangible than his dead father taken care of.
"...I want to help." With everything. She steps back after. "With this nightmare meta situation. What can I do?"
She returns to the chair after, giving her a chance to hide the expressions crossing her face. On one hand he was probably right - considering he sounded so ominous, even if his tone didn't reflect it - but on the other, he wasn't, because she genuinely did want to help. The inevitable truth about this place is, sooner or later, they'd all see something that gave them scars. Like Zora. She could, however, appreciate what she saw as someone trying to prevent that for as long as possible, even if it wouldn't help in the end.
She sighs, a bit deflated.
"Okay. But...y'know that support you were wanting from your best friend? Others are probably willing to give it...if you can accept it, and not push it away. I mean I get what you're saying, when you say I'm too young." She rubs the back of her neck, cringing a little as she rubs salt into that cut, trying to find something solid to give him when she knows nothing. "I don't know what's up, or anything, but I don't think he'd be taking issue just to take issue?"
She lifts her hands and lets them flop back to the arms, pulling her lips back to look a bit disgruntled.
"I don't know. I've got nothing."
But the gears are turning. And what could be bad enough to make Jack change his last name to something weird and way different?
"Let's just say that for a guy who is very concerned with how I'm making my decisions, he's made a few of his own that are pretty questionable."
But, as he'd promised, he's going to try and keep the hostility to a minimum.
"I understand, though. And trust me, I appreciate your offer, but..."
He doesn't really want her to see what he was willing to do.
The thought of that alone, that he had to hide what he would be doing, is enough of a tip off that he really shouldn't be doing it. Hell, he'd just been furious at other people for keeping secrets, and now here he was, doing the same thing.
Jack lets out a long sigh through his nose.
"...maybe you can do something for me, after all."
"...changing your last name is probably gonna make everyone question that decision..? I mean, you don't have to be on the intelligence side of things to know something's up."
She leans back in her seat and relaxes with a nod. She gets it. She's too young. This was something he had to do on his own, so on and so forth. She thought it was rather dumb he insisted on doing it himself.
Bianca grimaces again at the thought, but perks to attentiveness as he speaks again. Wait, something she could do?
"What is it..?" She inquires, rather than jumping all over it and agreeing right off the get-go.
Oh. Good? Bianca relaxes a little, but remains curious.
"I've known Taner and Zora a while, yeah..." She nods, thoughtfully, composing what she wanted to say. "Hmm. Well. They're good people, first and foremost. Hardworking, determined. Taner's a good friend, and he doesn't get mad terribly often; he's...really dependable. Zora's a bit more off the wall. She can be really happy and swing into...uh, not sadness, but she can be reclusive sometimes. She has the same dedication Taner does but...just needs to focus it, I think. Like she does with her music."
She blinks.
"But, you know their mom, Aaliyah." She tilts her head, watching him. "Well. They're kinda like her. In some ways, obviously."
She shrugs, having always considered them their own people rather than younger versions of their mom. There were a lot of differences as well as similarities.
