Paradigm's library is a pretty interesting place, what with students and agents and books on all sorts of weird things. It's even more interesting when a section of one corridor is randomly covered in a cloud of darkness!

The shadows aren't solid, it's just like he's walking down a pitch black hallway! Because nothing can be seen though, he might want to step carefully lest he bang his shins on something. Nobody sounds like they're objecting to the darkness, probably because it doesn't extend very far into the library.
The darkness abruptly disappears! Aaron is sitting on a sofa in a little reading area off to the side near the library entrance, and hadn't noticed the expanding cloud until alerted by the exclamation. "You okay, sir?"
"Sometimes that happens when my mind wanders. It's weird."
Matt might know that there's a family history of depression listed on Aaron's file, thanks to his mother! Aaron is pretty sure he's not depressed though. "I threw up a little cloud for privacy while I sketch, just around me. Guess it grew."
It looks like a couple character designs and an attempt at a landscape! It's decent, not something you'd put in a gallery but not bad. Aaron looks as if he's going to shove the notepad away, then thinks better of it and leaves it in view.
"Work better when people aren't watching. Guess I get stage fright." That's partly a joke. "It's not all the time, just sometimes it helps to have the shade around; kinda like throwing on a coat when it's cold out. You know how when you're going to sleep, people say to turn everything off? It helps me relax sometimes, using my power just around myself. Besides, people said if I use it a little while doing creative stuff, it might help develop it more."
Plus working on his ability to call up darkness quickly is kind of helpful in a fight, if he ever has to get into one.

"Yeah. Mom does art in her spare time, says she would've gone pro if she hadn't joined Paradigm, and she taught me how to draw stuff as a kid. Said it helped her get so good with her powers, too, so when mine developed she got me to practise more."
Aaron smiles a little talking about it, so the reassurance probably worked. "Never done anything serious with it, pretty much random doodles. You have to be pretty creative to get the most out of a power like this, so it helps."
"Make darkness, control shadows a bit, fire shadow bolts, solidify darkness, see in the dark... it's gonna be a while before I can do the crazy stuff Mom can do with it. I can't make super detailed constructs with it, move through shadows, or anything like that, not yet."
Matt's shadow reaches up and taps him on the shoulder! "Still, with creativity, what I've got goes a long way until I get stronger."

"Thanks. I've been trying to figure out the 'rules' of this power, lately; super strength, pyrokinesis, that stuff? Easy to figure out. This?"
Aaron shrugs. "In theory anything I can imagine can happen as long as it involves darkness. In practise, I have a long way to go before that's the case. How can you push your limits if you don't know what they are?"
He does a lot of thinking in all that time he spends not talking!
He knows people with healing powers like that are a thing! At least some of them work in the infirmary under Dr. Husher. "Sounds pretty powerful already, regenerating that is."
"We do, but I only use it for emergency situations. For a while I liked to use it whenever I could to help others, but it became a crutch. People got sloppy because they could." He frowns.
