"You don't GET to forgive me!" she snapped. It would be sudden if not for the fact that their entire conversation seemed to have Piper on edge, so much so that it was a surprise she hadn't swung again after the girl let her go. "You are in no PLACE to forgive me!"
Everything in her froze, then. She knew it had only been about a week, but it felt like so much longer than that, like it had been an eternity since anybody had called her that. Even in Australia, only the church called her Sarah... The name... It brought with it so many memories.
Against her will, she slipped downwards, towards the ground, onto her hands and knees. Things seemed to overrun her. "Sarah... I'm not Sarah... My name is not Sarah."
She doesn't say anything and instead slowly circles around Piper. Being cautious so she wouldn't spook her. Like one would with a scared and wounded animal.
She would slowly kneel behind Piper and put an arm around her again. If she let her she'd pull her close and gently start stroking her hair, once more with shushing noises.
Despite herself, she let the girl hold her, trying to calm her as the tears came. She tried not to cry, but right then, there was no stopping it. Her shoulders shook with the sobs.
The humming and her soft sobs were, for some time, the only thing that broke the silence. She clung to the girl's arm around her with one hand and her necklace with the other.
Fiona seemed content to stay there as long as Sarah needed. The humming constantly looping and never stopping. Though Fiona's eyes would be fixed some ways off to the distance. Looking at something far away and yet to come.
When at last she had calmed down, Piper just laid there, wrapped in this stranger's arms, trying to get her thoughts in order. Sarah... Most people didn't even know that name, anymore.
Finally, she was calm, quieted to just sniffles. Then, she looked up at her. "Who are you?" She asked, again.
"I don't... Have any friends..." She said, brokenly, as she thought about Angel and Aaron, about Rebecca and the others she had met since her arrival. They were her friends... Weren't they?
