Aaron would watch for a few long moments, staring Angel down some more, before being satisfied he wasn't going to be attacked. The tension slowly left his muscles, at least a little, and he would lie back down. Eventually, the shadow would leave Angel's mouth.
"Get out of here, Angel. Being in the same room with you is raising my blood pressure."

He just shook his head and chuckled. Then he would start to walk out but stopped.
"When you're ready to stop running away from your issues just let me know and I'll tell you what you were too scared to listen to tonight."
Angel started to leave again before remembering Piper.
"I do apologize I honestly thought we could have a discussion, apparently I was wrong. Though if you ever want to hear what happened from another perspective I'll be happy to tell you. Oh, and I won't lie to make myself sound better."
Piper watched Angel leave, making sure she stayed between him and Aaron. It wasn't as if she could really stop his shadows, but he had told the shapeshifter to leave, and he was doing just that.
Then, she would turn back to Aaron, even as she thought that maybe she should go chasing after her Pod mate. She stepped up towards the bed, offering her hand to him. "Aaron," she said softly, kindly.
When she turned around, he was sat up again, gripping the glass of water tight enough it was a wonder it didn't explode in his hands. Mostly because had she not been in the way, he was going to hurl it at the back of Angel's head as he walked out of the room. The parting shot, wholly unnecessary, had given him the exact icy look that had only just left his face. He stared right through her for several long seconds, before letting out a huge sigh and setting the glass back down. His hand took hers, and he sank back onto the bed like a falling ship.
"...Sorry," he finally managed, through gritted teeth.
Moving the glass of water away in hopes of keeping it from breaking, she moved to sink down onto the edge of the bed next to him. He was still angry, but at least he took her hand. She gently rubbed her thumb across his knuckles, trying to calm him down.
"Don't apologize," Piper murmured. "But let's not talk about it. You don't need to get any angier, and I really don't care right now. Just rest." She smiled and leaned over to press a kiss upon his cheek.
Aaron let her stroke his knuckles, let her lips press against his cheek, but didn't respond in kind. It really wasn't a good time to. He gave her hand a little squeeze to show the gesture was appreciated, then shut his eyes and focussed on breathing slow and deep. In, out. In, out. In. Out.
"I'll try."
Visiting hours were still open; he didn't mind seeing people. Long as they weren't Angel.
"Don't quite know what happened there, once it started coming out it just wouldn't stop."
She didn't expect him to react to the kiss, but the gesture existed anyways. "It got out of hand," she agreed, but she held fast to her kind tone. He was breathing, at least. That was a good sign.
"Get your rest. I'll go tell the nurse to keep people out of here for a little while, and I need to go check on somebody. Will you be okay here?"
"Sounds good." She smiled, standing up and letting go of his hand. She moved to go outside, and if he didn't say anything else, she would find the nurse.
(Sure, and I'll leave the thread open for anyone who wants their person to've dropped by in the day or two he spent in the infirmary.)
As soon as she left, Aaron settled back again and squeezed his eyes shut, running a hand through his hair with a heavy sigh. Well, they were right about one thing. He did need his rest.
