Dan leaned against the wall, eyes moving into the "restricted" archives with a slightly worried look. He had never really....broken the laws of anything before. At least not on purpose. But now he wanted to know some things. To find some stuff out that could put Mathew on edge. Take him off his game and actually let the youngster get to know him on a different level.
He didn't want anyone to get him wrong- he was still gonna kick his ass.
However, Mathew made him curious. He reminded him, as cliche as it sounded...of his father. He had to know what made the big man tick. Even though he told himself it was to put the man on edge, Dan was simply intrigued. He pushed off the wall....and would head into the archive room.
*****Fifteen minutes later*****
Daniel re-emerged, a scowl on his face. He would promptly start heading for the cafeteria. He took a seat, planting his forearms on the table and clasping his hands together.
He didn't really know how to react to this.
OOC: Daniel has gained information on Mathew Amtrum here, the same information pulled from previous threads. GM approved.

Taner plops his food tray down at the same table as Daniel, seems to be the most open table. He's incredibly excited about his chicken breast sandwich with kale, spinach, tomatoes, and honey mustard on wheat. He's also got two large bottles of water and an apple. But before he starts chowing down, he looks up at the guy across from him.
Dan looked up and watched the male approaching, giving a shrug.
"Yeah, kinda."
He would reach down into his back and take out a brown paper sack, looking inside for a sammich, apple, granola bar and some grapes. His mom always taught him to eat healthy.
Taner gives Dan a suspicious look, mostly because of the way he was talking about it. He shrugs halfheartedly while swallowing his bite.
"So... are we talking about Amtrum's criminal past or something else?"
He thought that was common knowledge, the guy wasn't exactly apologetic about it.
"As for how this started, it was a military project. Paradigm was formed like almost twenty years ago. I forget exactly how the robots here started but I vaguely recall an alternate universe version of an AI that attacked everyone having something to do with it. The rest is just funding as far as I know."
He takes a sip of water, he's got bread stuck on his molar.
No, it had nothing to do with his criminal past. It had to do with something Dan thought changed Mathew into what he was. But rather than respond to that, he would instead proceed to question this newcomer on his knowledge of the school.
"So...it was worse before? I mean, before all of use started sprouting up? I mean, alternate universe blending seems....rather horrible."
Depending on what was on the other side, of course...
He hated the briefing his mother gave him on all that. Alternate futures and dimensions and timelines, it all made his head hurt. He tried to focus on other things. After a moment of thought, he says.
"Pretty sure the AI they use is from universe "2" and the one here went rogue. Then future people came and said it went rogue again like Sky net style so they had to time travel to stop it."
Dan hummed. He thought Mathew was higher up than he was. That's fine- his ass would get kicked anyway. Daniel was more interested in how this place worked.
"People- kids- die here all the time. I guess I'm just curious how it's justified to the public. Unless the public doesn't know or doesn't care."
"Originally, something about teenagers made them the only group able to develop powers but then everything changed. Now... I don't know. I don't pay attention to it."
It made sense to him....from his battle before, where the girl died, the cops seemed more than willing to let them bumrush in. So he didn't really have any further questions to ask.
Taner asks once it seems he's done answering the ones posed to him. It seems sort of strange to him, common knowledge almost though he has to admit he didn't get just common knowledge when his mother briefed him before attending.
Dan would glance up before using one of the paper towels he had packed to wipe his mouth. He would half shrug.
"I went on a mission my first week here. Got a girl killed. Miranda Fischer."
He would take a drink before looking around him a little.
"I'm trying to understand this place. I didn't really know about it until my mom told me this place might help. I'm hoping that if I can just uh...learn more, and get better....people won't die because of me."
It's never a good thing to hear about the passing of another agent. Taner sighs heavily, after the sincere condolences though spoken by someone who experience being around people in times of loss. Being from a military family meant knowing a lot of other military families and given the results of the battle with the Empire, he'd heard his share of fallen names.
"That's a noble goal. If you need any help, I'll be happy to lend a hand."
Was all he said in regards to the apology. It wasn't an easy thing for him to admit to, but clearly this guy had a lot more confidence in himself and in what was going on than Dan did. He would look up and give a little nod.
"Yeah. I'd like that. It'd probably better than getting my ass kicked by Amtrum 24/7."
He was embarrassed to say his plan of attack was very linear.
"I try to use feints and deceptions to strike at areas I expect will hurt someone made of metal. Problem is, he always retaliates with spikes. Getting constantly stabbed sort of kills my momentum."

"Yeah, I tried that in his office, and I definitely do pop. I never thought about...trying to reduce that sound. Or get rid of it entirely. But...for some reason, even though I feel stronger than I ever was before or even when I came in, I still get exhausted way too quickly."
He chewed his lip. This guy had his shit together- maybe he could continue with the insight.
