Post mission, Taner had just returned his field gear to the armory after returning back. He hadn't said a single word the entire trip back, just silently wrestling with his own thoughts during the journey. It felt like an eternity.
He makes his way over to a bench in the hall to sit, head hung with elbows resting on his knees. His hands clench together so tightly that the strain on his muscles causes his arms to begin to shake. The frustration of it all cause him to tighten his jaw to the point he may actually break a tooth. But still, he says nothing and looks at no one.
What is there to say? To himself? To his mother? All that training, working, pushing himself to be better in every way and the moment in mattered there wasn't a fucking thing he could do but watch. She'd always been more powerful than him, no matter how hard he tried she always would be, and it showed. But she never wanted this... it was because of him. She just wanted to watch his back and now she's gone.
Murdoch couldn't have know what they were talking into, no blame would come from Taner. He only blames himself, given all his tutelage he should have known better.
"Enya found that sheet of people that had my name on it. And the dude said I was saving them the time by showing up. I think they were planning some sort of kidnapping, and chances are the device that man used was what could have captured me."
He nods sagely.
"That's my theory anyway. If Zora got teleported, or whatever, instead, they're probably holding her captive."
"Maybe we should. We could grab Enya, Clyde and some others or just go in ourselves. But I think you're cool headed enough to be there and be effective."
Taner actually laughs, a heavy level of exhaustion seeping in.
"It took all my strength not to rip his heart and shove it down his throat on the way back. No way I'll be able to stop myself the next time I see him. I can't go in there."
