the many faces of...

    School: John C. Fremont Highschool
    Position: Principal

    Name: Navarro, Victoria Athena Catalano
Alias: Vicky, V, Doctor (Navarro), Principal (Navarro), Miss (Navarro)
Date of Birth: May 2, 19xx
    Age: 28
    Nationality: American
    Ethnicity: Spanish-Mexican
    Blood Type: O+
    Height: 5’ 3”
    Weight: 112 lbs.
    Hair Colour: Deep auburn
    Eye Color: Vibrant emerald
    Handedness: Right
    Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

    Physical Appearance:
Modest would be a good way to describe this woman’s appearance. Her presence is not so bold that it turns every head she strolls by, but it is assertive enough to earn a lingering glance or two. Beauty is subjective, and while she may capable of attracting many men, many others would not even take her into consideration. An acquired taste, if you will. Not that this bothers her in the least; Vicky carries herself with confidence, her rounded chin held high in defiance of her short stature and her small, feminine shoulders held back to keep her back straight and petite chest out, giving her flawless posture and an aristocratic air that demands the utmost respect.

At first sight, Victoria can be deceiving. Her small frame and slender curves are reminiscient of a high school student, but once you are within proximity for facial recognition, she can be described no more as a girl, but as a woman. The softness of a girl’s face has given way to the sharp and angular contours of a young woman in her prime—the age where youthful features are retained but are complimented by more mature attributes. A squared chin and jaw with an auburn fringe upon a wide forehead frame the softer components of Vicky’s face. Her lips are wide and of moderate thickness and her nose is small and pointed. High, distinct cheekbones disrupt the softness of her face, in contrast to her large, slightly melancholy green eyes, which attempt to recapture it.

While her build is nowhere near athletic, Victoria is also far from being out of shape. Yoga classes attended on a regular basis keep her body flexible and trim. Her Spanish roots seem prevalent over her Mexican heritage as her skin is a lightly-coloured cream, and though she is capable of tanning, Vicky is susceptible to burning when out in the sun sans protection for too long. No defining scars or natural marks blemish her body; however, she does have the latin word ‘Veritas’, meaning truth, tattooed just beneath her right collarbone. Her naturally dark, wavy hair falls to just between her shoulder blades and is often held up in a ponytail for neatness’ and efficiency’s sake.

    Apparel & Accessories:
Being a woman that believes one should always give as well as demand respect to and from their peers, Victoria dresses herself very professionally when dealing with business affairs: several skirts of modest length and a wide range of blouses, jackets, and sweaters, all of which she cycles through during the week, are what compose her professional wardrobe. Though her occupation requires her to be dressed professionally most of the time, Victoria owns a sizeable amount of clothing that allows her to dress appropriately for any occasion, from formal, to streetwear, to the beach.

Both of Vicky’s ears are pierced in the lobe, and her left has a second piercing in the cartilage. She owns a pair black, round frames for a weak prescription that she needs only for reading, meaning that it is not common to see her with glasses on outside of the office. Around her neck hangs a golden necklace with a small golden ornament in the shape of a cross. She is not a religous woman but she wears it in memory of her mother, who passed it down to her.

    Personality:
Vicky is a very strong and self-reliant individual. She is morally courageous and will not hesitate to voice her opinion on an issue if she feels it has wronged her or anybody else. Nobody, unless they are of a superior position to her or hold seniority over her, is capable of giving her orders. Even then, superiority and seniority can be disregarded if Victoria feels the orders are unjust or if they conflict with her personal beliefs and morals. It is rather difficult to sway this woman’s opinion, and she only seems satisfied when a decision is made in her favour. That’s not to say she is stubborn, selfish, or closed-minded; she is actually quite the opposite of that. Victoria frowns upon those who are concerned with nothing but themselves and their own interests while ignoring the pleas of others and closing their mind to the rest of the world.

Unlike those that she holds disdian for, Vicky is a compassionate person and often helps others, even if they don’t ask for her assistance. A sometimes annoying trait, but virtuous, nonetheless. Her sympathetic nature also grants her an open mind. When a situation arises, Vicky tries to remain objective by putting everything into perspective. Every party’s point of view is taken into consideration before coming to a conclusion or making any decisions. Traits such as sympathy and kindness are often associated with feeling individuals. Victoria, though she possesses these traits, holds an affinity toward the cerebral side of the picture. She believes emotions, while a much needed component, only cloud judgement and influence decisions based on personal bias (feelings).

There is very little room for accepting error to Victoria. While she does believe in giving second chances, a third is out of the question. Trust is not easily won with her. One must first prove to her that they’re reliable before she imparts anything of significance in them. It is because of these reasons that Vicky loosely follows the mantra of “If you want something done right, do it yourself.” She finds deception, blackmail, bribes, and any sort of furtive manipulation or dishonesty to be despicable and distasteful. This causes her to distance herself from politics as much as possible, though it is near impossible when you are involved in the corporal punishment system.

As the Principal of John C. Fremont Highschool, Victoria’s students may not see the compassion and fair judgement many of her peers and co-workers have witnessed. To them, she may come off as cold, snobby, or as one student so eloquently put it, “a bitch." Her experiences in life have lead her to believe that students in developed countries, or at least the U.S.A., Canada, and Western Europe, take their education for granted. One could tell by the authoritative air that travels with Vicky wherever she goes in school that she is a strict administrator. She does not want her students to waste their time or the tax payers’ money used to provide an education for them. Like the highschool’s maternal figure, she offers loving, nurturing care and understanding, but she is not afraid to scold and punish her children because she feels that she knows what’s best for them.

Style: Hardly a fighter by any means, Vicky’s body lends itself best to sports or recreational activities whose main objective isn’t to cause and suffer physical damage. When adrenaline kicks in, flight would be her definite first choice. However, she has been taught basic self-defense that emphasizes survival by targetting vital areas and escaping from danger when the opportunity arises. So if she were to ever be put into a compromising situation, her instincts would tell her to attack and flee at the first given chance.
