Valo's scouring the academy, looking for Zora. He heard she was kidnapped, then he heard they got her back so now he wants to make sure she's alright. She didn't want to be out on the field, that's what she told him. So she went out anyway, and this happened... can't have been good for her.
He'll find her in Tutorial, wailing on a punching bag. She's got headphones plugged in and seems completely withdrawn from the rest of the world as she works on the heavy bag with an incredibly practiced-looking series of punches, elbows, and kicks.
Valo eventually heads there, though it's the last place he's thought to check. When he finally gets there and sees her, he just puts his hands in his pockets and waits. Definitely not one to just interrupt her, especially when she's in the zone, so for now he just finds a place to sit near her and takes it.
She goes for a surprisingly long time, especially considering by the time Valo got there, it already looked like she's been at it for a while. She snarls into the bag, throwing a bevy of lefts and rights into it, following it up with a war cry and a wild spin kick that sends the bag rocking.
She stops, breathing heavily, only seeming to just notice Valo. She offers a smile, albeit a weaker one than he may have received in their previous time together. Regardless, she goes to take a seat next to him, snatching a pre-filled water bottle from a bag she'd left there and taking a drink.
"Hey dude," she'll say, finally, lifting up a fist for a pound.
He returns her smile, equally as soft but not nearly as weak. The fist is met with his own, and for a moment he doesn't say much. Might as well give her some time to breathe. Once he feels like she's got it...
That garners a bit of a laugh from her, a short snort and a quirk of the lips. "Something like that," she'll remark, rolling her shoulders and getting up to her feet, grabbing her bag along the way.
She thinks about it, snagging her phone from her bag and checking the time. "Yeah, I'm gonna hit the showers and pray real quick. Meet me out front in an hour?"
She bites her lip slightly at the touch, watching him leave for a bit before heading to the shower.
<<ZoomZoomZoom>>
After her body's been washed, wudu achieved, and prayers made, she'll head outside to the front gates, decked out in a flannel jacket, black band shirt and a pair of jeans. She's got some ear buds in and she's keeping an eye out for Valo!
Valo's waiting at a bench wearing a flash t-shirt and jeans. No need for bulky clothing when he can just mimic the outside temp. It doesn't take long for him to notice Zora, and when he does he stands and walks over to her.
"Yooo," he waves, waiting for the earbuds to be removed before he keeps talking for fear of looking like an idiot. "Any idea what you wanna do? 'cuz I'll admit, the only times I've ever left the academy have been to collect scrap metal."
She'll see him, inclining her head upwards and pulling out the earbuds as she spots him. "Heyy," she'll draw it out, walking to meet him. Once they're next to each other, she'll wrap her arms around herself, looking at the soon-to-be-setting sun.
"I dunno, I just..." her gaze pans across the campus grounds. "I just don't wanna be here right now. Maybe we can just drive around a bit?"
She lowers her head. "I'll, uh, chip in for gas and stuff."
"That works for me. I love driving anyway." He smiles when she lowers her head, tilting his own downward and cocking a brow in response. "Don't worry about the gas. Unless I somehow spend like five grand on that alone, just consider this... part one of the 'At least you're back now' gift bundle."
Valo motions for the two to start walking, and when they do he walks slightly close to Zora and heats his body up in case she's cold.
"Just don't ask what's in the rest of the bundle. Very bad idea."
She feels his warmth, appreciating it more than she'll let on. The flannel was nice, but it was starting to get colder outside than a mere flannel could cover.
She glances over at him at his remark though, quirking an eyebrow. "Let me guess, 'cuz you haven't thought that far ahead yet?" She'll grin a bit, following him out to his vehicle.
"It's just that if you get ahead of yourself, there's a bunch of spoilers and it'll ruin part one. All the fun will just get sucked away," Valo fumbles for excuses as they make it to his custom-faded chevy cobalt. Mama left him the good ones.
He unlocks the car from her side, opening the door for her before he jogs around to his side. With the car started, he just pulls out of the spot and drives off-campus with no real direction.
Her eyebrow quirks even higher. She doesn't seem to be buying it. Regardless, she shakes her head, as if allowing him the victory.
"Yeah, alright," she'll say with a little nod. "No sense in watching the sequel first, right?"
The smile broadens as he gets the door for her. That wasn't something she had expected, and it shows in her expression. She'll take her seat and look around at the inside, checking out any unique flair that defines the car as Valo's own as he starts to pull out of the parking lot.
"So how long you been here, anyway?" She'll ask as they head onto the streets. She can't remember if she'd asked him that before. A lot of things have happened since then.
Valo didn't watch for a reaction, so anything that might have been on Zora's face completely eluded him. As far as personal flair, the most she might note is a pair of lockets hanging from the rear view mirror, and a back seat filled with textbooks and scrap metal.
"Like, what... A month, now? Something like that. I haven't been keeping track until recently."
He comes to an intersection, and tosses Zora a penny.
"Nope, I definitely haven't had a chance to 'aah' since I've been here."
He just smirks as she tosses the coin. "Left it is!" And so he turns! They go left, and Valo sees a chance to hop onto the freeway that he snatches up.
"Alright, now pick a number between three and sssseven. Seven sounds like a good number," he nods as he merges two lanes to the left.
