"Belarus is pretty out of the way of all their important stuff, isn't it?"
It was better than not having any inside route at all, though. Obviously he doesn't like it, that's clear from the way his brow lowers, but as promised he doesn't say anything on that front.
"That has 'trap' all over it. Do we have a plan, when he turns on us?"
Or was whoever Jack sent going to be stuck there surrounded by the enemy.
Not worrying isn't in Lucien's playbook, when it comes to the Empire!
"I'm not stupid, if I show my face there everybody from Minsk to Paris will know Paradigm's involved, but when that snake turns on us the whole thing is probably blown anyway, and sending one person to bail out the whole team? It doesn't feel right."
...Not to mention that when that team is betrayed, Lucien wants the chance to tear the traitor limb from limb. That's probably obvious.

He's not exactly subtle, he knows that, but Paradigm doesn't pay him for subtle. People can say what they want, but they can't argue about the fact he gets results.

It was at that moment that Evie walked in, her arms full of files, looking a bit distracted. She was tiny, and looked even smaller in her comfortable, fuzzy sweater just a few sizes too big.
"Hey, Jack, and I had que-- oh." She looked up to see the man in his office, and her blue eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to interrupt!" The smile she offered Lucien first, then Jack, was genuine but uncertain.
Lucien was about to respond when the door opened, taking his attention off the Director as he looked over his shoulder. Ah, this must be the assistant he was talking about! She's so tiny, and then there's the smile she gave him, the way she apologised - this agent is adorable! He can't help but laugh, shaking his head.
"No, no apologies necessary! Here, let me help you with that."
He comes over to take some of the files off her hands! He'll put them wherever she wants them to go.
She smiled as Lucien took a few of the things from her arms, tilting her head to one side. "It's nice to meet you," she said to him with a gentle nod. "I'm Evelyn. My friends call me Evie. Or Eve."
Then, she turned to the Director with what could almost be called a frown. Her eyes were still gentle as she walked over.
"Jack, I just cleaned this! Look, it's really easy," she said, taking hold of the folder he had tossed aside. She placed it where it needed to go, laughing her tinkling laugh. "You'll be lost if I ever have to go away for any extended period of time."
He sets down the files he took off her hands, watching in amusement as she goes to fuss over Jack. The Director hadn't been kidding, she really was a model secretary!
She laughed with a gentle toss of her head as Jack turned to peer at Lucien, and when her own eyes moved to the Frenchman, there was an unspoken apology there. She reached out and gently pat the Director's arm, giving a shake of her head.
"Don't worry," she said, still grinning. "I won't leave you to fall victim to that massive mountain of paperwork ever again."
She shook her head and started to organize the paperwork again, carefully, humming to herself as she let the boys talk again.
Evie's interruption, though welcome, had in fact made him forget what he was going to say.
"No, I think I'm okay for now; I should probably get settled back in at my pod, organise everything I brought home. I'll have something brought up to your office before the holiday."
Lucien nods and heads out, though he pauses at the door for a moment.
"Just one last thing: Next time we get our hands on one of those bastards, give me two minutes alone with 'em before they meet anyone else. They'll do anything you want when I'm done. You two have a good one."
He gives Jack a wave, and Evie a wink, then walks out.
