Not long after Jack was visited by a certain huge Frenchman, Abby would hear knocking at her door! The kind of knocking that sounds like it's being hit with a battering ram, but without the damage that implies - more like incredible enthusiasm.
Lucien might be fluent in English, but it's always nice to get to talk to somebody in his mother tongue! French is such a beautiful language, and even though he and Abby speak different dialects of it, there's still the same heart.
"I'm sorry again for alarming you; it's just so good to be back for the holidays, and to see you all again!"
He lowers the volume a bit to keep from overwhelming the good doctor with the force of his greeting, but he's still wearing a huge grin.
He closes the door carefully behind him, knowing his own strength, before coming over to settle down on a couch! Ah, these are always so comfortable, whether he was just coming for a chat or more official reasons.
"I was talking to the Director earlier, and thought I'd drop by to say hello! He says you've been keeping busy."
"Ah, yes, please! And do let me know if you need any help on those trips, sometime - I'm no psychologist, but maybe I can be useful."
He's more of a wine or beer guy, but Abby's tea is really good, and besides, when a friend offers to make you tea you at least try it. That's the polite thing to do! He even restrains himself from just downing the whole thing in one mighty gulp, sipping lightly. She wanted to know what he's accomplished, huh? In his experience, Abby's usually not fond of his war stories - they tend to be bloody, especially when he talks about his anti-Empire missions.
"Pretty much just got back from the field, actually! It was a great success out there. When I got back, Josh gave me my yearly assessment, and the Director has me on call in case anything goes wrong with an operation he's running. Apparently we're replacing the Imperial governor of Belarus with an operative who wants to help us. We put him in charge, he gives us information, and a way to strike right into the heart of the enemy, if we can trust one of those snakes."
He can't quite hide his disgust at the idea of interacting with an Imperial in any way but getting their brains all over his hands, even as he forces the smile back on his face and drains more of the tea.
"Met his new assistant, too - lovely young lady, name's Evelyn. Have you met her?"

"Je crois qu'on n'as pas de choix. Il vas simplement falloir que l'on leurs fait confiance." Absinthe says, though her tone suggests she's uneasy with it too. Still, from what she heard of it, if it goes according to plan it's a big step forward. They would just need to be careful and keep their eyes on them.
"Je l'ai recontre, oui. Elle m'a dit qu'elle voulais m'accompagner a la Vault, aussi."
"We do, those scum aren't invincible. But if this somehow isn't a trap, maybe it'll do us some good; it'd save a lot of lives on the front lines."
The moment that operative stops being useful, though, Lucien has every intention of killing him right then and there. That might or might not be obvious in his tone, and just from what Abby knows of his history. He does appreciate the faith the Director showed in him, though, and of course, if this is on the up and up somehow, they'll have gained a big advantage. That, and the topic shifting, helps brighten his mood.
"Oh, did she? She really is so helpful!" And adorable! "Having her around seems to be doing the Director a lot of good; I hope she's able to help you, too."
Of course, helping both Makailas and pursuing her training and her duties as an agent? One hopes she knows how to avoid burning out.
"Il avait vraiment de besoin de qu'elqu'un pour l'aider avec les fichiers." She agrees. "Je ne crois pas avoir besoin d'aide moi-meme. Il est mieux de parlez au prisonnier un a un. Mais j'apprecis l'interet, alors ca me fais plaisir."
"Is she interested in going into your line of work?"
Two counsellors! Imagine that. Or maybe this is someone who just likes to put as much on her plate as possible, but at least she's being helpful about it.
"Far be it from me of all people to discourage the ambition of youth! You're right, though, it's far too much to put on one plate, especially for a newer agent."
He knows full well the dangers of trying to do everything at once. You have to find your niche, to be as effective as you can be. He finishes his tea while considering that point, setting down the cup gently once it's empty.
He'd totally hit that, but he never liked being quite so blunt around Abby. It'd be like swearing in front of his mother. Instead he shrugs and lets out a bit of a chuckle, relaxing in his seat.
"You know me, I like to look out for everyone here." Especially the pretty women! After so long Abby probably knows that. "It'd be a shame to see someone with so much potential burn out because she thought she could do everything at once."
