Angel recognized her! Oh yeah he knew she was the councilor but he didn't know her last name... oops. But he would nod in appreciation and walk it standing beside the chair he assumed was for guest but he wasn't about to sit until instructed to do so.
"Thank you."
He would say politely.
"Director Allcott has instructed me to pay you a visit."
"Sit anywhere you like." She offers, serving up two cups of tea before sitting across from him, wherever he chooses to sit. She would then offer him the second cup.
"So it sounds to me like something happened if you were referred."
Angel nodded and then got more comfortable in his seat before continuing.
"So it starts back with my second mission with Aaron, the terrorist attack at the school. After the mission he accused me if being the reason Miranda died, as well as the fact that it was my fault that Arman created all those clones. He said all this to me at the infirmary when I went to check on him, and he got all kinds of uptight and all but demanded I cower to my knees and beg his forgiveness. Now when I tried to explain my side of the story he felt that is was necessary to use shadows to cover my mouth and prevent me from speaking. I didn't take kindly to that and it would have been a fight had Piper not been there to break up the fight. Since that day I find him immature and incompetent, and as such I can't stand being in his presence so I have avoided it."
He took a sip of his tea. He found it relaxing.
"Now Piper is someone I have formed a bond with, probably the only person at this academy that I really care about. So when I found out there were a lot of people that were injured after her last mission I rushed to find her. When I did she was injured and I was told that people were injured as badly as they were because Aaron screwed up. This set me off, because I was just told the person that caused the person I'm closest to was the person I all but despise. Now what happened afterwards was... Bad timing cause Aaron came into the room immediately after I heard that. So I lost it and pinned him to a wall to get answers, which turned into him attacking me. I can't blame him but after he threw me off I had no intentions of attacking him, in fact I was in the process of leaving when you walked in. Then I gave him a warning to not follow me. I realize I could have found a better way to say that but I was angry and wanted him to know not to follow me. But apparently my warning became a threat to him that he took as 'Watch your back I'm gonna kill you.' Which I never intended. But he heard that and decided to try and goad me into a fight by sending me a text to meet him in the tutorial if I were man enough to fight him face to face. I showed up specifically to tell him I had no interest in fighting him but because Director Allcott was there he asked me to see him in his office after the fight and from there I was instructed to see you because I'm an asshole."
Absinthe tries hard not to sigh at the word usage from John, but, between him and Jack she knows it's not an exaggeration.
At least this is why she's the counsellor?
"That's a lot of information. So since that second mission you've not been much his fan because he placed the failure of an entire mission solely on your actions. After hearing someone you care about was hurt because of him, that distaste may have triggered you as bit worse than if it were another person and you took a bit of a physical approach to get answers, which he retaliated to and that's when the director and I intervened. Then after misunderstanding your warning as a threat, he wanted to settle things in a way you held no interest in and Director Allcott made a judgement to send you to me for "being an asshole." Is that right?"
For the sake of not getting it twisted or if Angel wanted to elaborate on anything.
"I'm abrasive, prefer to be by myself, and only form real connections with a select few, those I would consider part of my pack if you will. I've always been more animal than human, and recently, since coming to Paradigm, I've been trying to do more of the human approach. Which hasn't been working out to well. So yeah I'm a bit of an asshole and I know it."
"Honestly I prefer to just see how things go. Life and experience will teach me all I need to know and so far life has told me that in order to get places I need to be an asshole. If that changes then so will I."
Angel scratched the back of his head, contemplating if he wanted to go into that... Ah what the hell.
"Well mostly just the fact I was abused my entire life because I was a 'good' kid and I was respectable. But that didn't go over to well in terms of defending myself. So I got mean and I survived. Can't say that much for my foster brothers and sisters."
"Being an asshole doesn't mean I'm 'mean' just closed off and a but difficult. I can be mean, but that isn't my goal. But to answer your second question, yes. I always aim for survival. I won't lie down and accept defeat, I will keep fighting until my body drops dead from its inability to continue."
"I'm just here to listen to you." Absinthe smiles. "So I'd love to hear about anything. I assumed you were here to do something about being an asshole, but if you're not looking to change that at all, then that's your choice."
"Well I don't really know if that was the reason I was sent to you, because honestly I just assumed that he sent me here because I am an asshole. But what he actually said was something along the lines of 'She helps students become... Well she helps them in ways to make them better.' or something along those lines. So I don't really know what result he was hoping for in sending me in here."
