A good amount of time has passed, and now Fred is searching for her inanimate companion, Gun! She starts by looking for anyone involved in the mission, in hopes of asking about the whereabouts of a Chthonic rifle covered in cute stickers.
Despite himself his shoulders slumped ever so slightly, but she was walking around. So that was good right? Meant that they were able to patch her up. But he still couldn't shake the feeling of guilt over getting her shot. Not even by accident, his portal made it a direct hit.
"Same. The last I saw of you, you were injured really badly. I'm so glad Paradigm has such an effective medical team."
Truth be told, she still has a fuzzy idea of what happened during the mission. Eric apologized via note, but that could've been for anything, much like Murdoch apologizing for encouraging her to go on more missions. Maybe Eric felt upset for not keeping her safe.
"I got your note. You don't need to feel bad. CLAW is to blame."
"They are to blame for a lot of stuff, but not for my actions. And I am sorry, my aim was off so the blast didn't go through the creature's side but straight through the back."
If she remembered correctly, she fired at Aaron... But Aaron was fine after everything that went down, so Eric must've redirected the shot to get the creature on her--
"Oh..."
Reflexively, she held a hand over where the hole was. For a moment, a look of hurt crossed her features, but quickly smiled in reassurance.
"It's okay. You were hurt, so it must have been difficult focusing through the pain. Besides, between Aaron and I getting possessed, I knew I would be an easier threat to deal with. If anything, I should have slid my Gun away after firing."
The pained look caused him to wince as his heart broke all over. Even the reassuring smile did little to quell the guilt he felt about what happened. He still thought he made the right call in getting Becca out of there, but shooting Fred. That one he regretted.
"It's not about who is a bigger threat. I told you I would watch out for you and I did the opposite. I messed up, and I'm really sorry. Let me make it up to you somehow?"
"It's no trouble at all, but I am looking for my Gun at the moment. The one with stickers that I brought with me to the mission. I'm worried sick about it."
This ought to suffice, since she couldn't think of anything else to ask for.
He'd wiggle his fingers and focus on her gun before ripping open a portal to pull it out for her! Careful to not aim it at anyone though as he handed it over.
"FRED YOU'RE ALIVE I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD HOW DID THIS HAPPEN I THOUGHT YOU WERE MURDERED THE BEAM WENT THROUGH YOUR BODY NO ONE LIVES THROUGH THAT HOW ARE YOU ALIVE-?"
Gun has not stopped shouting since it came through the portal.
Fred holds the rifle away from herself due to the volume.
"I'm sorry Eric, it appears Gun missed me very much. It must be very strange for you to witness. But I truly am grateful for your help! I didn't even know where to start searching!"
