Another fine day at Paradigm! To be quite honest, Lucien was starting to get restless. Jack should have found more worthy enemies for him to destroy by now! As much as anyone could use the rest, as nice as it was to see friends and family and be reminded just what he was fighting for... he needed something to happen. Something other than parties and helping junior agents with classes. Something other than sitting here, waiting, like Rhett!
When in doubt, though, exercise seemed a good bet. He'd gone on one of his usual runs around the campus, unaccompanied by juniors this time, but it hadn't been enough, so a minute's downtime led to him hopping up to a sturdy tree branch for some pullups!
"QUARANTE! QUARANTE ET UN, QUARANTE-DEUX, QUARANTE-TROIS..."
His voice cut through the crisp air like a sword.

The loud Frenchman's voice startled her. Eve tucked her hands into the pockets of her jacket and jerked her head, turning to look at him as he worked out, concern flashing across her gentle, blue eyes.
She was a very quiet girl, more often than not, and avoided loud noises as much as she could. She didn't really understand WHY... It just made sense to her.
So, keeping her head ducked, she began to softly sing to herself.
"Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it.... I tried to be chill, but you're so hot that I melted. I fell right through the cracks. Now I'm trying to get baaaaack..."

Unfortunately, it wasn't every day a tree, even a strong one, had to bear something with Lucien's sheer bulk on one of its limbs, especially with the fierce energy of his pullups. Cracks and splinters spread along the wood with each movement, every explosive movement upwards and drop downwards, and slowly, inevitably, it began to give way under his weight.
"CINQUANTE!"
Fifty was more than the old oak could bear, and with a groan the branch snapped with one last mighty flex of Lucien's arms, sending the Frenchman down to earth! He landed on his feet with a soft thud, steaming the winter air with a great exhalation as he rubbed his hands together.
Then he saw the look being shot his way, concern and maybe a little alarm, before Jack's assistant ducked her head. He hadn't known he was exercising with an audience!
She pulled one hand out of her jacket as he addressed her, raising it and waving away his apology. She tried to offer him a smile, but it was weaker than her usual one. Her gaze was darting back and forth a bit.
To be fair, someone doing pullups hard enough to destroy the bar - or improvised bar - would startle a lot of people. Lucien had been mildly surprised himself! Still, the look on her face, the weakness of the smile, made him tilt his head inquisitively, and lower his volume a few notches.
"Are you well? You seem bothered."
And not in a good way! He'd seen the "please get this person away from me before he tears my arms off" look enough times to spot a similar vibe.
...Even though no arms were going to be torn off, today.
Lucien was the king of noise! But he knew when to step down from the throne so as not to terrify all his subjects. He also knew when to stop a metaphor before it went somewhere terrible.
"If you're sure."
See? Much quieter!
"How've you been, Evie? I've not seen you around."
To be fair, he hadn't gone out of his way to look. She'd seemed so rattled the last time he properly spoke to her! And also, he'd been keeping himself busy!

Mangling a tree that had been living happily for hundreds of years before he came along
"Occupying myself. I am restless; I'm happy to see everyone again, but I've been so used to the field that I'm all pent up with no way to let out all that energy. I thought exercise would help but it hasn't."
Well, it had a little. But his blood was roaring in his veins, demanding a challenge! His heart was thundering in his chest so hard he could hear it, his muscles were wishing there were an enemy to destroy!
"The fresh air is nice, too! I love the chill in the air this time of year, it's so refreshing."
