He had some combat training, even if it wasn't his focus like it had been for others. Becca included. So at least he knew how to slip into a more defensive stance. He had no intention of striking her, but if she was set on making sure he wasn't going to die he would just do his best to avoid and minimize damage taken until she was satisfied. That was the compromise he'd make with himself.
