Did he see anything when he glanced out the window? Either way, Sarah's outburst at the rebel takes his attention off it and back to the two of them, wiping out whatever he'd been going to say. She covered a lot of the points he planned, though he'd planned to be much gentler. Aside from the fact he's considering pointing out that if he were Inquisition, if any of them were, the rebel would be dead already.
Wow, somehow she's even prettier when all angry and determined.
"She's right," he offers after a moment, his tone softer, more controlled, than hers. Playing good cop? "We're here to stop him once and for all, to free all his victims. You've seen my badge, you know two of our guys beat up some of his men and took their truck, you've heard what she has to say. If you need more, I can give it to you, but we have to work together on this, and that means trying to trust each other. Okay?"
"Yeah, one second," Josh said with grit teeth. His legs were quivering as those rifles were pulled out and the men looked to advance. He clenched a fist in front of him, forming a sizable barrier that protected the entirety of his front. It did not, however, obstruct the path between the back of the stolen truck and, say, a shock pistol being drawn.
Incidentally, Josh drew the pistol (that he was suddenly very, very glad for having taken. At least ONE of his two main armaments proved useful) and readied himself. He couldn't shoot through his own shield at the soldiers; his barriers worked both ways, unfortunately for certain tactical options. However, the 'non-lethal' pistol should prove more than enough for... say, volatile fuel.
Josh took the shot. Just to be sure, he took several in rapid succession, then took off backwards after Mark, keeping the shield between himself and the forces... as well as the potential explosion!
About halfway through Sarah's rant the rebel goes for his gun!
Josh is able to shield him and Mark from the first wave of shots fired at him, away from the truck before he blasts the truck with a few rounds. Sparks fly and the fuel ignites creating a huge smokey explosion!
"BOOK IT!" Josh shouted, pivoting and running after Mark. Hoping that the explosion would offer sufficient cover, he blinked the shield and reformed it behind them in order to cover their hopeful escape.
Well, so much for Aaron's pep talk, because with the rebel trying to pull a gun on Sarah before she finishes talking he doesn't say anything in the previous post! He knows she's fast enough, and trained well enough, that this guy is almost certainly not a threat to her, but he'd landed a blow on her before, and it's the principle of the thing. Protective instinct kicks in without allowing for any time to ask if it needs to.
"Watch out!"
Aaron focusses on forming a "bubble" of hardened darkness around the rebel's gun, so that Mr. Paranoid can't grab it and pull it out! It wouldn't cause any pain or anything, it would just be as if a wall was suddenly between his weapon and his hand.
"Slow down and think, man. If we were Inquisition, why would any of this even be a thing? None of us want to hurt you. What can we do to convince you?"
Aaron's finding it really hard to work through the pain and pain pills to form the shadows. He is able to form the shadow around the gun after the rebel has grabbed it. He'd fire at the bubble with it pointed at Sarah!
As durable as possible! Power-wise just about his entire focus is on having it be as solid as he can make it, to stop the round from breaking through. He knows it's something he could do while healthy, it's just a matter of focussing enough through the pain and such.

Sarah moved away from the bullet aim but didn't make for the gun. She knew she could have disarmed him, dropped him, and ended the fight, but she had a point to make.
So he and Mark were lost somewhere in Turkey... or "Jimstanbul" or whatever the hell. Their ride was destroyed, soldiers were after them and they had no idea where to rendezvous with Aaron and the others.
Faaaaantastic.
[COMM]: "Hey, Mr. Shadow! Skellyman and I ditched the truck. Also we blew it the heck up. Trying to lose the soldiers right now, think I did a good job... uh, maybe. Um, where are we meeting up?"
"I can't get a hold of Aaron right now. Don't know where we're supposed to meet up. Whaddaya think about circling back around to where we last saw them while I try to get this call?"
The shadows slip away from Aaron as the rebel tries to take a swing at Sarah!
Mark and Josh slip away for the time being, but the whole area is starting to buzz with activity as sirens go off and police and military start to pour in and set up a parameter!
Aaron tries to bring up the rebel's shadow to give the man a firm shove backwards and away from Sarah! If successful, the shadow stays between the rebel and Sarah afterwards, solid and unmoving, not making any attempt to threaten or attack the man, just protecting her.
"Please, stop this," he says, trying to hide the grimace from the pain and frustration and the comm messages he's receiving. "Can't you see we don't want to fight you?"
"We goofed..." Josh grumbled. "Who knows how many miles out we are from the others. At least we denied them some fuel, right?"
It was little comfort, knowing that a decision Josh made on a whim might very well end up getting him killed, as well as his little partner in crime. Guess that's what he got for showing initiative without the experience and wisdom to back it up.
"Mark, we might not be able to power out of this one. Any way to divert attention so we can bust outta here before they've got us totally blocked in?"
