There was a severe difference in reading something, learning the theory of it, then actually putting it to practical use. Fighting…was one of those things, more specifically a better understanding of self-defense. How do people actually learn to defend? Or for that matter fight in general. One sure fire way would be to go out and start something with some random stranger and hope you could scrap long enough to either whittle them down enough to take them out…or just get completely torn down yourself until you learned your lesson.

That idea didn’t appeal to Aleece, but working out, reading training manuals, or actually putting effort into the required PT wasn’t quite doing the trick. She knew what a punch felt like…quite intimately, and as one that had never, in fact, been struck in the face before knew she didn’t like it almost as soon as it had happened, on either occasion. Normally she relished the fact she was so ordinary that she was easy to pass up, and over look, like it was she wasn’t there. However, there were times when something caught someone’s attention, interested them, and they acted on what ever the catalyst had been in first place.

For Aleece, it had started off as any regular Saturday, a weekend on campus, in the busiest part she could find, which happened to be the park on the grounds (or at least one of them). Under a drooping shade tree, the heavy limbs offered a canopy – the thick leaves breaking the light that fought to filter down. With a pair of black ear buds stuck in her ears, her iPod played Halestorm along with a mix of other artists. Either way the bass thudded dully in her ear, the words almost garbled…just not getting through to register the noise as actual lyrics.

It wasn’t quite warm enough to wear shorts so she had chose to go in a pair of faded and ripped jeans, and a long sleeve, but light, blue Henley with some pattern plashed bright across the abdomen. All in all – nothing exactly extraordinary. Aleece wasn’t sure how long she had been sitting out there relatively left alone, if not for the people about – jogging, walking, sitting and chatting – before she decided that food would be a good idea. Her stomach crimping was a good enough clue to do something about it anyway.

It had been a week after her second run in with JT, plenty enough time for the bruising on her face to go ahead, the slight scratching she had gotten to heal – basically she was fine physically. They were all minor things that were taken care of with a routine dose of antibiotics and regular self-care. With the slim music player in one hand, she used the other to get to her feet and with a halfhearted stretch she started on the hunt for substance. However she was promptly stopped in her tracks when she ran into something solid. The collision made her take a step back, stumbling slightly but able to keep herself upright.

With her music blaring in her ears she didn’t hear the other persons exclaimed in anger? Surprise? Aleece wasn’t sure but she was able to see that the person she had run into was an older student, possibly from Fremont, or the University, hell it was completely possible they were from Knox. That wasn’t the problem, what was that what ever had been in their hands was now splattered on the ground, their lunch by the looks of it…

Anyone that knew Aleece knew that she was quick to talk, that is…talk her way out of unfavorable situations, but the last few days she hadn’t even done much of that. She had, had a lot of thinking to do, after all, so she looked at the person in front of her rather blankly for a moment, the music on her iPod pausing as the last song faded out before clicking over to loop to the beginning – restarting the same list of songs she had just listened to…

((ooc - not sure where this will go. A fight? A conversation? Either way...ish open =3))

David Guetta's 'Sexy Bitch' featuring Akon pumped through his ear buds, the steady rhythm of the bass and digitally modified voices working in harmony to create a tune that made people just want to move their bodies. Tony bobbed his head along with the beat as he cruised down a long concrete path that lead through a rather large park and to the outskirts of the Collective's campus. Located there was the city transit, a bus that would take him back home to San Diego. Back to his family, and more importantly, his school mates. He needed to score some stuff if he planned on having any fun during the weekend.

The brunette swerved back and forth along the path and popped an ollie over the rare obstacle that crossed his path. His attire for the day was simple: a pair of slim-fitting and faded indigo jeans coupled with a simple black v-neck tee with a grey trim. The edges of the jeans were frayed from years of wear, but nothing was in worse shape than his mangled red skate shoes. The white sole of one shoe was beginning to separate from the rest of the shoe, indicating that it was almost time for a new pair. He'd get around to that soon; but for now...

One agitated young man. One dumbfounded-looking girl. Food scattered about the pavement and grass. It didn't take a genius to figure out what had just happened. Normally, Tony would have just rode on by. He had things to do; people to see; drugs to procure and consume. However, something about the scene made the UK native screech to a halt, the tail of his skateboard wearing thinner with each passing second of applied friction. After kicking it up into his right hand, Tony approached the two presumed students and struck up a conversation, mainly talking to the boy as it seemed like the girl was occupied with her iPod.

"What happened here, mate?" he inquired, giving the girl a brief glance before turning back to the older-looking student. Tilting his head in the direction of the girl, as if pointing to her without being rude, he continued his statement, "That mean girl over there spill your lunch?" he joked, fully intending on producing some kind of insecurity within the boy. Even though he'd prefer to avoid a physical confrontation, if a situation arose where he'd need to defend himself or another, he was more than capable.

Not that she was particularly busy with her iPod but Aleece hadn’t made an effort to remove the headphones or turn it off and she didn’t think she needed to exactly. She watched the other student’s lips move and irritation become even more evident on his face the longer she seemingly ignored him. It wasn’t done on purpose but she supposed that didn’t matter much, and she sighed quietly to herself as she dipped her hand into her back pocket just as someone rolled up on their skate board.

Giving the new guy a glance out of the corner of her eye she watched his lips move briefly as he spoke to the guy in front of her and she wondered for a moment if they knew each other. Pulling out the cash she had on her she peeled off a twenty and took a step forward pushing the bill against the guys chest as she passed. She really did not have the want to be bothered with this at the moment and she would have kept going if not for the fact she felt a large hand curl around her upper arm, stopping her.

Aleece’s only reaction was to tense up instantly freezing in her spot before sidling her eyes to the person that hand belonged to. And really it was only then she really became aware of the size difference, the top of her head hitting him at the shoulder and he seeing was easily twice as wide as her in the chest. It was intimidating to say the least and the first thing that ran through her, coldly, was fear. With a small gasped rendered from her lips, she was easily yanked back, face to face with the ape, and the ear buds pulling from her ears in time to hear what he had to say – her money fluttering to the ground…

“-you think that’ll cover?”

The next reaction that took over since the flight part of escape was obviously gone was to retaliate, and before she even thought about it her knee shot up, through the cool crimping in her stomach, she hit him…right in the balls. The reply was instant, he doubled over with a sickened groan, but he let her go which was what she wanted in the first place. Taking a few stumbled steps back she looked over to the guy in the…was he wearing purple pants and red sneakers?

Well his fashion choice wasn’t her concern and she looked at the now very pissed off student in front of her. Ducking down she plucked up the scattered tens and twenties, it couldn’t have been more then fifty there but she still needed it – that included the money she had tried to give the guy in the first place.

“Listen,” she muttered, “I don’t want any problems…”

She realized it was entirely to late to say something like that now.

All the larger student had to offer Tony for his comment was a scowl and a "Fuck off. This is none of your business, kid." His face scrunched up into a scowl of his own at being called a kid. If there was anything he disliked being labelled as, it was 'kid'. Tony's mouth was held agape for a moment, as if he was going to say something, but instead he held is tongue. He noticed he was only going to be ignored. What was going to be a clever rebuttal changed into an amused smirk as the scene unfolded before him.

The girl paid the boy back in a rather rude manner, shoving a bill into his chest and attempting to walk past him nonchalantly, but Tony could tell she was nervous. Nervous of a potential conflict which she had just tried avoiding. Unfortunately for her, she approached the situation in the wrong way. Tony was surprised by the girl's lack of awareness concerning how the children of the system would react; she couldn't have possibly thought she was going to get out of this without some kind of confrontation.

The older student was visibly upset at the girl, allowing the bill to flutter off of his chest as he reached over to grab her and pull her in front of him. He violently ripped the earbuds from her ears, and Tony could only grin at the look of horror on her face. What happened next made Tony wince in sympathy. The girl had just nailed the boy square in the genitals, and Tony couldn't help but reach for his own out of compassion for the victim. As the girl backed away from the temporarily incapacitated, and now even angrier boy, she looked at Tony. He looked back and said, "That was completely unnecessary, miss."

As if trying to take her low-blow back, she mentioned that she didn't want any problems after picking her money up from the ground. Tony could have burst out in laughter; if she didn't want any problems, she should have went to a different school. There were always problems to be had at schools controlled by the system. That was on a wider scale, however; if she didn't want problems now, she wouldn't have created them. She should have known what she was getting herself into as soon as the meal left the boy's hands. It may have been an accident, but there were a number of ways she could have evaded the situation.

"You bitch! I'll fucking wring your neck!" the boy fumed, standing up and approaching the girl as soon as he recovered. Immediately stepping in front of the lumbering beast, Tony put a hand on his chest in an attempt to halt his advance on the girl. "Ay mate, I'm sure it was an accident. The food, I mean. You don't have to--"

"I said FUCK OFF you cunt!"

Tony was abruptly cut off by the larger student, who spouted profanities and shoved him aside, causing the him to stumble to the grass. "How rude. Cunt isn't a very attractive word." the brunette mumbled as he picked himself up. The upset boy had closed the distance between him and the girl, and now had a hold of her wrist with one of his hands. Without a word of warning Tony swiftly approached him from behind, skateboard in hand, and swung it at him, the hard steel trucks smashing into the back of his head.

With a grunt he fell to one knee, turning his head to face Tony, rage clearly plastered onto his face. Not wasting any time, the skateboard descended upon the boy's head again, sending him reeling to the ground where Tony continued to hit him with his skateboard and stomp on him with his ruined sneakers. Mid-beatdown he glanced up at the girl, as if asking her to join him in the festivities. It was, after all, her fight.

"That was completely unnecessary, miss."

Aleece finally looked over at Tony and raised an eyebrow, now with the ear buds out of her ear and sound not assaulting her she picked up on the accent quite easily. Almost instantly her brow furrowed and her attention was drawn back on the guy in front of her, obviously...her knee to his groin hadn't been enough to keep him down - of course it hadn't and now he was even more pissed then before.

"Guess I should have said, I didn't want anymore trouble here..." Aleece mused almost to quietly to herself. Okay so the fighting thing, wasn't for Aleece, she could see that now, and she had just enough time to stuff her money back into her pocket, completely aware that she had stuffed her foot in her mouth with this one when he took a step toward her with his threat. She didn't know if this British guy was crazy? (Quite possible around here) Or just stupid (again more then believable)...or if he thought he had to be a hero like a few people she knew, because she didn't think anyone would willing take a step into someone elses problem unless they were expecting a reaction. Or confident they would come out the winner.

Which...unsurprisingly enough, came when the older student shoved Tony to the side. Aleece's eyes flashed to the skater boy to the one now a step closer to her, and grimaced lightly when her wrist was snatched back into a rough grip, but her gaze flickered beyond his face in time to see a skate board coming right at the back of his head, making her flinched away in result of the sound. When he went down she skipped back out of the way her hands lifted slightly and took another step until she felt the tree stop her at her back. It all happened quite quickly - well fast enough where she couldn't really react.

Like a very bad car accident (that just happened to be your fault), Aleece couldn't look away, but she did replace the headphones to her ears, the music that had been up till then muffled, now blasting back in her ears at full volume. She was half way torn between taking the inviting look the guy with the skateboard threw her, and just telling him to knock it off...but she did neither. It wouldn't be the first time she would have sat through a show of violence here but it would be the first time it had been because of her.

Biting on the inside of her cheek, Aleece glanced to the side finally and a few people starting to take interest. Not good. Pushing off the try and quickly making up her mind she stepped away from the two of them, "some is going to call this in soon...I would...hurry up if I was you."

She wasn't sure if he was new or what but she turned around and made her way, away from the excitement.

The assault lasted only a few seconds, Tony stopping once he believed the student wouldn't be in a good enough condition to chase him. Now, he wasn't brutal by any means. Tony didn't want to hospitalize the boy, though he would probably need a few stitches in his head from the initial hit he absorbed from his skateboard. The girl seemed to want nothing to do with the battle she started, and he wondered if she was used to making such irrational decisions because she always had someone there to clean up after her. She simply backed up and tried to drown out the rest of the world with music. If she thought she was going to get out of this unscathed, she thought wrong.

Tony noticed that within those few short moments, a few people had taken interest in the scene. Some had their cell phones out, taking videos, pictures, or calling the authorities. Before the girl even said anything the young man was gone, skateboard in hand and making sure he would going in the same direction as the girl was. The boy attempted to get up and pursue them, but he only ended up on unsteady legs, causing him to stumble back to the ground.

The two other students involved in the incident fled the scene at a swift pace, and once they were some distance away from where the conflict began, Tony yelled out at the girl, "You know you really fucked up back there, yeah? What would you have done if I wasn't there?" He didn't know if she heard him because of the phones in her ears, and if she didn't respond, he'd walk over to her, pull them out, and repeat what he said to her face.

As she pushed past a couple of people slipping the iPod into her front pocket and letting it play on in her ear, she didn't notice the guy with the skateboard following, that he was irritated at her for walking away from the mess that she had started, and she didn't hear him the first time either. She jerked away and looked at the guy like he had just lost his mind when he yanked the headphones from her ears, but her eyes shifted to the side when he repeated himself. All in all Aleece felt like a chastised five year old and she bite her tongue to keep from sounding like one either.

However much she should have appreciated the help she was kind of people getting grabby with her. She was hardly handling things like she should be though, and with a small sigh she cleared her throat looking back at him. "I know...”

As to what she could answer with what would she have done if he hadn’t stopped? Frankly…she would have probably tried to run for it had he not been there. She hadn’t been thinking, it was just the first natural thing that had come to mind when he had grabbed her…whether or not she could finish the fight hadn’t even come to mind at the time.

But what exactly was she suppose to say? Thanks for not letting my fact get pounded in or worse back there? Somehow…it just didn’t quite fit to say it, after all she didn’t know this guy and he didn’t know her. Aleece was pretty sure he must be new…or by the way he spoke, maybe not. Then again it wasn’t too hard to figure out what the collective was about before hand or upon arrival.

Her silent musing and inner conflict aside she went for a different approach something more, Aleece style to say the least, “look, thanks for helping me out back there, but um…” with a jerk of her chin she gestured to his skate board, “you sure you didn’t break that? His head looked pretty thick…”

She would be prepared to pay for any damage the board might have taken, it was her fault after all, and she wasn’t quite so diluted that she didn’t know that either. She honestly needed a break from her own head, probably someone to knock some sense in it, and with a suitable distraction she was sure it could happen.
