"You're being weird because your interactions with me continue to be inconsistent. Sometimes you wish to talk to me, sometimes you wish to avoid me. Other times you look to insult me."
"Look in a mirror lately?" Rebecca snorts and shakes her head. "I want to spend time with you because I wanted to get to know you. I avoid you because every time I think I understand, I don't - and again, I don't need people in my life who think of me as nothing. I can just as easily walk away and you'll only ever see me passing by in the halls. You get insults because it's a form of defense." Her gaze grows more intense at the rather obvious assessment that's not necessarily just for her.
"Not to mention coming to my pod to start trouble. Or continue it, whichever."
She stares, eyes widening as the corners of her lips lift. She bites the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing.
"You didn't even notice?" Her shoulders are shaking as she turns her face away, trying not to laugh aloud but finding it difficult. After a moment, however, they stop and she takes a deep breath to look at him again.
"Well, Silas. Either you really are as skilled a manipulator as you think, or you might just have been honest with me."
She actually laughs! Not that she still doesn't want to punch him, but he's sinking his own ship. If it's an act, it's an amusing one, at least.
"Well, it was pretty sad, I'll give you that." The whole situation is ridiculous. Maybe she just needs to laugh to prevent herself from crying after the past week. She'd come close a couple of times, but being alone in the gym like this was one thing you couldn't have paid her to believe earlier today.
"You told me to shut up after I admitted my own blows were pretty sad." She goes over to where she left her own gloves, removing the boxing gloves as she goes.
"In this case? Physically adept." She pulls the glove on until it's tight, watching her fingers as she flexes them. No sense in going overboard with the ego.
"So, what were your tensions, exactly? I think we've covered mine enough tonight."
