The clock had just struck three and the campus was nearly silent. The moon was full, and silouted in the light and shadows was Fiona. Laying on her back on the pavement with her dress hiked up just enough to allow her feet to bend over the side of the fountain and kick the water gently as she hummed a soft melody to herself.
Fiona might eventually have noticed the night getting much darker not too far away from her, a section of the courtyard blotted out by shadow as if something were actively snuffing out any moonlight that approached it. Aaron wasn't doing it on purpose, and his power usually didn't react to his emotions, but with so much on his mind it just sort of creeped out of him in a haze. He didn't even notice. He was usually asleep by now but had spent so much time tossing and turning, thinking and mulling, trying anything he could think of. Warm milk, a hot shower, a quick bodyweight workout, calming music. Nothing did anything.
Eventually, well, maybe he just needed a walk. Cold, fresh air. Maybe a heavy snack in the cafeteria if there was still anyone there right now.
He didn't see anyone at the fountain.

Aaron hadn't heard the noise from the fountain at first, and the surprise of spotting another person there, splashing her feet in it like it was a bathtub in her pod, took his mind off things long enough for the darkness around him to suddenly vanish. Except for the regular old dark of it being 3 AM, of course. He took a few steps closer, curious, looking at the agent(?) he'd never seen before, and let the moonlight shine on them for a few moments before he thought to say anything.
Something about the look in her eyes gave him the feeling they weren't talking about the same things, though. Was she on something? Though it wasn't like a glazed-over, spaced-out look couldn't be from a power or something.
"Mind if I sit?"
Maybe it'd help. Feeling the cool stone underneath him, the slight breeze through the courtyard, hearing the water rushing to and fro. If she didn't refuse him, he'd take a seat on the fountain's edge near her. Not too close though, that'd be weird.
A quick clench of the fist, a narrowing of his eyes. No, calm down, Aaron. She wouldn't know why that annoyed him. He took a breath and said more slowly, more calmly, "My name is Aaron."
Maybe he did. The way some people looked at him in the halls, the way people emphasised his last name, not his first, how teachers in his early days would always hear who he was and only see his parents. What they had done, their strength, not what he could do, how strong he could become. It had settled down some now, but every once in a while...
But how would this girl know all that from just looking at him?
"Do you know who I am, then?" Curiosity, not invocation. What was her deal? The "shadows cling to you" thing could've been just about his power, but everything else? Hm.
