Mostly from the shadows, though he'd walked up and started conversations a few times. They were an... interesting bunch, and half of him wanted to get to know them better, while half needed to get a feel for who they were, how they thought. Intel could make all the difference. He was sure they weren't actually bad people, just like him they were in this to be heroes after all, but they definitely seemed like they could use some slices of humble pie. For that, he had been getting a feel for how they operated - how they thought, behaved, what buttons they had to push. He was pretty strong, but he always preferred to fight smart rather than wade in fists swinging. He definitely wasn't stupid enough to take on Adam, for example, without a plan, should they be matched together. Not to mention, he was sure they couldn't be all bad. Maybe they needed someone to make an earnest effort. He'd checked with a few of 'em, made sure they felt welcome and were being treated okay, but hadn't exactly been going out of his way just yet. It felt a little awkward chatting up the people he was going to be fighting, and one of them wouldn't look up from his phone for two consecutive seconds when he tried talking to him. Still, as he walked across the campus, cool Autumn air cutting past him and grass crunching underfoot, he was keeping an eye out. Since Aaron was unnoticed, he approached slowly, cautiously, and slipped into the shadow of a tree near where he was having his conversation, darkening it so he wouldn't be seen. Aaron wanted to think there was nothing to it, that it didn't have anything to do with the matches coming up, but well, who knew. The Miami bunch did seem to be taking it much more seriously. Was he the only one looking at it in a way that wasn't "which Academy is better"? Hard to say. He hadn't meant to be spying on anyone today, he'd had good intentions, but something about that conversation gave him a bad feeling in his gut. Aaron wasn't sure what he expected there. Some kind of conspiracy with the sparring match wasn't it, though. He turned off the recorder once Adam stopped talking, watching. Couldn't play his hand by suddenly emerging from the shadows, so he'd wait to see what the big guy would do. Part of Aaron tells him he should just leave. Tell Director Gavyns what was happening, maybe Harris too. But... what if Harris is in on it? No, ridiculous. Aaron knew Director Harris. He was an honourable man. He would never condone this. He'd try to be subtle, no big blobs of darkness for him right now. Just enough that Adam will play off anything he sees as a trick of his eyes. After all, Adam doesn't know Aaron's power.
