Dan would be in the courtyard, at a stone table. He was finishing homework but...also contemplating that day in Matt's office. When he got knocked out again. Mathew was far too strong but...there was a girl there. A girl he saw for the second time in a week. Before she was with the girl that claimed to know secrets.
He didn't think she was following him, it was happen-stance. But if he was going to see her around, he thought he should get to know her.
He shut his book, before stuffing it into his pack. He would head off into the school, remembering what she asked.
"Same time as usual?"
The girl fought with Mathew often, from how that sounded. Maybe she had figured out a weakness. Someway to bring him down. Danny would go on the hunt for her.
The mystery girl in question could be seen in his hunt as she left the archives, a small frown on her face as she heads towards the cafeteria. She doesn't seem to notice Daniel at all, her gaze distant with her focus elsewhere. She keeps to herself, arms tucked against her sides as she moves through the halls with a sense of awareness that seems different form the other students she passes so far.
The archives? What was she doing in there? Wasn't it restricted? Dan, who had appeared down the hall, would keep a careful eye on her as he followed her, intent to keep track of Ms. Jefferson.
Rebecca continues to the cafeteria, oblivious to the stalker since she has one already. Daniel can see her pick out a protein smoothie, sitting by herself by a window as she does so. She seems content to be alone.
Daniel would slow, putting a hand in his pocket before coming over to sit across from her. His face had a very light bruise, his cheek a small scar from Mathew. Hell...if she saw his torso she would probably think he was trampled.
Oh gods, another one. Rebecca doesn't look at him, looking out the window instead. The reflection showed the guy from the study, who later went ballistic and tried to attack Mathew in his own office.
She looked over her shoulder at him with a frown, tempted to tell him exactly what he could do with that sharpness, but catches herself instead.
"Sorry, long couple of weeks." Long forever, but really, she's not going to say that. Her eyes narrow at the mention of the archives, however, and she shifts away from him while physically turning to face him. She would not leave a vulnerable side to someone asking questions they coudl find out themselves. She sensed a snoop. Mostly because there were maybe four people in all of Paradigm who cared about what she did just because she was someone the liked or cared about. This guy wasn't one of them.
"If you have your ID, you can go find out yourself."
"You always this dodgy? Sorry, I guess I'm not very good at this whole "Let's me and you be friends" thing. Does it have to start with some weird coffee accidental meeting or something?"
Maybe he wasn't making sense. Cut to the chase, Daniel.
"I know you fight with Matt alot. I was wondering if you had any pointers."
The archives could wait.

"Uh...well, I actually was coming to find you to talk about Matt. I thought maybe me and you could trade pointers and uh...get the job done. That might lead to friendship, since I'm fairly new."
He shrugged, adjusting the back he had set at his feet when he sat down.
Even Rebecca can't miss how dirty that sounds. She raises her brows at him but doesn't offer for him to take a seat or otherwise join her.
"Well, first off, do you mean Matt, or Mathew? You've said both. Second, you're going to have to explain 'get the job done,' and not leave it open like that."
This is even more hilarious by the fact that Rebecca mostly assumed he fumbled and meant to kill Mathew, but she only smiles as the new boy stumbles over his own words. She sighs after a second and finally gestures to the chair at the table across from her - the one with the most distance between them.
"Sit, then. I refer to him as Mr. Amtrum, by the way. It's polite and save confusion." She scowls slightly thinking of Matt. She didn't dislike the senior agent, but he really did make her life inconvenient. It was also easier to focus on that than another boy sort of hitting on her.
"Matt is another senior agent, but I never caught his last name, so yeah. Easier." She sighs and folds her arms in front of her, fingers entwining as she keeps them off the table.
"So why do you want to gather people to beat him? You seemed happy enough on your own the other day."
He would gladly take the seat. Amtrum...right, last name. Daniel hadn't caught it before, he was too busy eating rubber bullets.
"Ah, alright. Mr.Amtrum it is."
He would watch her, searching her face a moment.
"Well, first off, I don't know if I want to gather any others...just you. And I guess it's because I get the feeling you see him in a similar way I do? I don't hate him or anything. I actually like him. He just pisses me off with how strong he is."
That was a very small reason as to why he wanted to beat him.
"Second, I'm obviously not fine on my own. I have bruises on muscles i didn't even know I had."
Staring again for several long seconds before she bursts into laughter, covering her face with her hands to muffle the sound. Oh, what a gift to drop in her lap like this!
After a moment, she pulls back and composes herself, running her hand through her hair as she clears her throat.
"Let's get this clear right now: Amturm's an ass, but he's effective. Out of everyone here, he's one of the most honest faculty members I know, and I don't mean just words." She looks the new kid straight in the eye, a far cry from the girl who would look away when she first came to Paradigm. That, too, was in part due to Mathew. A large part, even.
"His strength doesn't piss me off. He only reflects what we should already see." She shakes her head and chuckles at the mention of bruises.
"Be glad you're aware of the muscles, then, and still have them. My first training session left me impaled right through my shoulder." She taps her left shoulder, but the fabric of her shirt prevents him from seeing anything.
"Besides, you don't even know my power. You've seen me, what, all of a minute?" She doesn't seem impressed or condescending; she's pointing out the flaws in what she's hearing.
"It might not be a bad idea, don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty sure others have tried. So I guess it depends why you think I would be the one to pair up with, aside from Mr. Amtrum and I sending each other to the infirmary on a weekly basis."
He didn't respond to most of what she said because he had no argument for it. He would just listen until she brought up her power. It was true, he had no idea what she did, so when he shrugged it wasn't one of "oh well" but one of indifference.
"I don't care what your power is. You have knowledge from fighting him. Experience I don't. And Mathew...knows how I fight. I'm not very good, as you well know. Mostly because I've been taught martial arts, not how to beat someone up. They are very different things. If you don't have a power that can lend aid I know your knowledge will, and if me and you train together, we can learn to fight as a team, and really give him a show."
He stared right back into her eyes- the laughter stung. He didn't know if she thought what he said funny, if she thought he was being stupid and laughing at him. He didn't know how to react to that so he wouldn't. He would just try and...move past it.
"One," she holds up a finger, "you should care. What I know comes from my own experiences. He knows how you fight, he knows how I fight. He knows how a lot of us fight.
"Two." Another finger. "The information I have is easy enough to find if you go looking for it." Didn't even give her your name and you want stuff? Dude.
"So you want information. Fine. Why do you want to beat him? To put him in his place? Appeal to your ego? Make friends out of his enemies? Try something new?" At least she's still interested.
He sighed. He didn't want to have an argument. But his normally bumbling exterior would slink back a bit as he let loose the reigns on his thoughts a little.
She seemed unwilling to accept anything else.
"Well I don't. And not because it's inconsequential, but because it's not the reason for me asking for your help. These abilities we have...? They don't make us who we are. They add definition to our personalities and to how others react. But so do your eyes or lips or how you sit when you talk or the air you keep around yourself when in public, that's dictated by whether you feel approachable or not. What's in your head from fighting him, from talking to him or even from digging into his past as you might have done....as I plan to do? That knowledge can help me more than any power can."
He would give a little smile.
"As for what you know? I am looking for it- that's why I came to you first. If you have something useful I don't have to waste my time elsewhere, right?"
And the last bit- why was he doing it? He frowned.
"To be honest....despite it being almost all I've done since coming here, I don't really like fighting. It doesn't interest me. As for why I'm doing it and why with Mr.Amtrum...I'd prefer to keep that to myself."

Funny how the tactical mindset switched over when Mathew was brought into the picture. Then again, between him and all the other lovable sociopaths in her life, it's not that much a surprise. She thinks.
His mindset, however, was refreshing to hear. It was something that was more and more common for her to find ever since she arrived at Paradigm, and she nodded in agreement. It really was the same as if, say, she'd had red or curly hair instead of what she did now. Just genes. Only, not for her. She leaves that particular comment alone.
"I see." She's disappointed in the end answer, but everyone has their secrets. Leaning back in her chair, she raises her brows at him, wondering if he's aware that he just critiqued her or not.
"Well, I can tell you right now he has covered whatever weaknesses he used to have." She shrugs, some of the rigidness fading from her posture. "I see no need to use personal information against him to win a fight. Not to mention, it'd probably land me in the infirmary for a few days." She was really starting to hate that place.
"Personal information? What, about the people he's lost?"
He quirked an eyebrow of his own. Daniel was a kind person, but he wasn't stupid. It was just easier to get the truth from people who thought you were too dumb to see it. She was the only one so far who thought to put pressure on him, or pause at his blushing and bumbling statements. That alone gave her more leeway. It wasn't like he had split personality he just...wasn't trying to be so nice for the time being since that seemed to be what got through to her.
"I may not have been clear in what I wanted. I know he's lost someone. Maybe several someones. I know there is more of him than meets the eye...But that information IS something I can find out for myself. What you have...is how he fights. How he teachers and adapts. So, you and me should fight. That way, when we get to him...we can combine what we know about his tactics and try to bring him down."
Mathew was his embodiment of fear, now. Or maybe...it was just the fear he felt at his own abilities when around him. Whatever it was, Daniel didn't like it and wouldn't stop until Mathew bent knee.

Rebecca doesn't respond to his question about the lost. If he wants to go down that road like she did, then all the more power to him. She rolls her lips inward as she considers his offer. She's tempted to point out that it would be difficult to coordinate their fighting to Matthew's style or mimic responses to his previous tactics, but anything's possible.
"You are very invested in this." It's almost a question as she sits upright, still paying attention as she tilts her head to the side.
"I am. I came here after fifteen years of things I want to forget, and the first thing someone does is crush me with it. Mat- Mr. Amtrum was that someone, and I need to take that power back from him. It's as simple as that."
Not really.
But that was for him to keep close to the chest, for now.
She considers him for several moments, sensing more because it seems familiar. Maybe it's just the way he phrased it.
"Yeah." A small nod as she sighs, looking back out the window again. "He's good at that. It's the first thing he did with me." She crosses one leg over he other as she speaks.
He watched her a second, before his face went blank.
"Oh uh...shit, I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Daniel. I can uh...teleport, as you have obviously seen. I'd prefer if you kept that to yourself...."
