Several days had passed since the explosion in Tutorial, and every place on campus left Rebecca feeling like a caged animal. There was literally no place that wasn't going to be full of people talking, and even her podmates would probably ask questions. Even if they meant well, she didn't have the heart to answer them. Hell, she coudln't even go on a walk without bumping into someone she knew anymore.
At least Mike had woken up, but Silas was still in a coma after that ridiculous move that she still wanted to slap him for, but it lost its purpose if he wasn't awake. Add to that the fact that it was so quiet in the infirmary; she already disliked places like that for what she'd gone through when she was younger, but now was quickly growing to hate the place. Solitude and quiet were nice, but it was that constant beeping and whirr of machines in that filled the rooms that made her skin crawl. At least they were stable, but looking at a bed with an unconscious body and hoping for them to wake up was more draining than a training session with Mathew.
It was evening now, and Rebecca had caved and gone off to hole up alone in an alcove on campus in an attempt to pull herself together. She couldn't go back, not yet. She needed to, she wanted to, but she couldn't. What would she even say?
What the hell had they been thinking?
”He's going to get him~” Enya's words come to mind as she flops to the ground, pressing her forehead to her knees as her eyes open wide.
Solitude would soon be broken by the approaching low thumps of bass as a tiny Asian women skipped nearby with bouncing balls of light that fluctuated along the spectrum. She seems to be humming something from her headphones as she goes.
At first she thought it was the thumping of her headache, but Rebecca discovered otherwise as the ground began to thump and tremor with the heavy bass of a song she couldn't her. Her head jerked up, nostrils flaring at the interruption that came with any time you're in Paradigm. She squints against the glare of the light, watching as a woman she's never met before skips on by like she doesn't have a care in teh world.
Rebecca just watches the light show for now. It's interesting, anyway.
Kanon circles in a wide birth, twirling as lights and beats explode off her in a rhythmic fashion. After a few moments she stops and removes her headphones with a large smile...
Rebecca's not sure, either. She'd been wanting space, but then her brain blanked out and her focus was on her thoughts. Her feet just brought her here. They can see the dorms off to the right, but it's a good ways away. She looks around and shrugs.
"Just needed a break." Judging by the dark shadows under her eyes, she needed one. Girl could go to Paris with those bags.
She wraps her arms around her legs, resting her chin on her knees as she looks up at the brightly-colored girl. Judging in equal measure, but Rebecca holds back on it. For now.
"Something like that?" She's not fond of sharing, really. Not the details. But this is a total stranger, which means a fresh personality who doesn't known about her baggage, as well as a potential problem.
She was so tired of assuming one of them is going to be a problem or potential threat. At least she hasn't tried to reach out or anything.
"I've been hanging around the infirmary the last few days. I came out here for some air." Boy trouble was only part of it, but it was a recent part.
Kanon says with a tinge of pity, only because of the word infirmary and her personal knowledge of hospitals. She slowly walks toward the girl, hands interlocked behind her butt.
Why was this girl talking to her? She must really look pathetic.
"I guess?" She shakes her head, but lets her legs stretch forward, letting her arms drape across her thighs instead. "I mean, most people don't like hospitals, right?"
Rebecca doesn't do more than shift slightly if Kanon's too close for her comfort, looking at her with a good deal of confusion. She literally just plopped herself down and started talking. Why?
"I don't even know if they like it," she muses with another shrug. All the lack of enthusiasm as she sighs.
"A couple people I know are in there now. Comas. One woke up not too long ago, but the other hasn't." She looks away, studying her shoestrings as her feet flex towards her.
"I really hate hospitals." All the poking and prodding, the promise of hope or "fixing" whatever some might say is broken, or making it better. Sometimes, they were good, but not in her experience.
Obviously she doesn't pay attention to the events that happen at the academy. Kanon just watches her, girl is goth to the max, which makes them like polar opposites.
That was a very good question, but that means her brightly colored companion hasn't been on campus lately. Just a guess.
"Tutorial accident. They were fighting and there was an explosion." That counted as an explanation, right? She frowns, not understanding what had pushed them so far to fight that hard, especially since Mike didn't fight unless he had to. It just wasn't him.
Then again, it was Silas. She sighs and leans forward, stretching until she feels her shoulders pop.
"They don't get along. I have no idea what happens when they're both awake." Yes, this was the best way to put it. No confusion there.
How could she put this delicately? After all, this girl seems very worried about the health of the young men in comas. Kid gloves, Kanon, kid gloves.
"You're worried about two dumbasses who blew themselves during some sort of training exercise? Seriously?! They were probably just being stupid and trying to beat the crap out of each other, or fighting over you. Never heard the expression; young, dumb, and full of cum? Girl, forget that noise."
Kanon doesn't understand what kid gloves are apparently.
"Out. You need to get out of here and do something to relax."
Kanon's thinking the bar, mostly because it's close and she doesn't want to drive or pay a fortune for a cab.
"Look, if tweedle-dumb and tweedle-dipshit beat the crap out of each other just because then they don't deserve to have you sitting here racked with guilt over nothing. If they were fighting over you that's worse! It means they think your just so prize to be won and your opinion in who you want to be with doesn't matter."
Way with words, she has.
"Either way they're in probably the best hands possible and there is nothing you can do moping around but make yourself feel bad."
It almost makes her feel better, except for the part where she still feels guilty. And yet, she hadn't started this. The boys had; that was part of why she was so furious.
"...Alright." She stands up a moment later on her own and nods. "Let's go."
"Neither." She frowns, thinking about it. Drinking was a no-no in her book; too many bad connections. But a club? That was full of people, maybe dancing. She did not have the mindset for that just now.
Rebecca wouldn't know, either about what normal sixteen year olds do or the ease of getting a fake ID.
"Honestly? I have no idea." She shakes her head and sighs. "Look, I appreciate it, and I might even take you up on that later, but I think I need to stay here for now for my own sanity. While I still have what I want to do in mind." She offers a weak smile.
