Well, he's not going to ransack the place. Still, it looks quite comfortable in here! She's obviously fixed the pod up quite nicely. He doesn't pay as much attention to his own, just enough to keep the place reasonably tidy.
"Just looking around" obviously wasn't actually just looking around, though, and he finds himself sort of standing around after a moment. His usual tactics don't really feel like they'll do much good here, overwhelming pain with superior firepower is a pretty situational ploy and she doesn't seem the kind of person to react well to it. You can't just yell away going through something like she just had.
That thought follows an unusually pensive Lucien around the pod and right back where he started, standing behind the couch and looking at the movie, occasionally shooting a glance at Evie to check on her.
"Mind if I join you? It looks pretty good."
Break the ice a little, let her get comfortable. Some company always helps - only having your own thoughts around you is a good way to stew too long, to make aches hurt worse.
Normally, she would demand that he sit down so she could shower him in snacks and movies. The Alien movies especially were a favorite of hers and the idea that anybody hadn't seen them seemed... blasphemous. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to ask him to join her.
Most of the cultural stuff he was exposed to growing up was, understandably, French; his family didn't hate American things, but they'd wanted him brought up thinking of himself as French. And then, when he became an agent, going out of his way to watch a really old series of movies wasn't always in the cards - he was simply too busy.
"I could stick around and watch with you if you like, look like you could use the company. If you'd rather I give you some space though, that's fine."
He shrugs! He's a tough guy, being told to shove off won't bother him at all. He just knows if he went through that, he'd want a friend around, some security.
She tried smiling at him, but it looked... strained, almost forced.
"Honestly, I just want to... sleep, I think."
She would feel better if BK or Mik were around, but beggars couldn't be choosers. She could lock the door, cuddle up on the couch, and watch some of her favorite movies until she fell asleep. That was a lot more... appealing.
Sometimes people who've been through something bad need time to themselves, to rest and recharge. Not everybody thrives on the energy of other people like he does. He's seen enough death and terror and madness over the years to know everybody copes in their own way. Not to mention how forced her smile looks, as if she were fighting to keep calm. He just gives her a smile, shrugs, and turns to go.
"I'm in Pod Two if you ever feel like swinging by. Rest up, you look like you need it."
Then he walks out, shutting the door quietly behind him.
Evie covered her face as soon as Lucien left, trying to stop the shaking. Why had he come to her Pod? Had he checked on the other girls? Feeling sick to her stomach, she jumped slightly when Mik wandered in, turning to face the blind man.
"Mikky," she said, sounding relieved. She took his hand, letting him lead her to the couch. She just wanted to watch her Alien movies. "I'm... I'm okay. It's just stupid, you know? People suck..."
"But what's most important to remember is that there are people who are out there that make the world suck a little bit less and it's those people we feel the need to find, and once we do find them... Well you hold then close to your heart and do what you can to protect them and keep then in our lives."
Her words were whispered as she thought about everything that had happened to her since coming to Chicago, how much confidence she had lost and how much she had gained. Her acting abilities, all thanks to her waitressing skills... gone. She was becoming more and more human, and that scared her.
Terrified her, in fact.
And then there was BK and Eric, and everything she had been so confused about for so long. She hadn't spent enough time with either of them, but she care so deeply for both of them. How could she know if either of them cared, or if there were other intentions behind their actions?
"Hearts often get confused. It isn't easy to tell who is supposed to stay in our lives. But even though its tough you got to see whatever is causing your confusion all the way through the end."
Mikeal paused for a moment thinking.
"You know... there's something my sister always used to say to me, and it has stayed with me through the years and maybe hearing these words will help you."
Mikeal cleared his throat before speaking again.
"Every one you meet in your life you meet for a reason. Even if the only part they play in your life is to leave... I don't mind sitting and listening to anything you want to talk about and I am more than happy to offer advice on whatever it is you need help with... but I can't make your decisions for you, if I did then you would no longer be in control of you life."
Mikeal shook his head with a sad chuckle.
"You are far too young and far too smart for someone to be controlling."
"I'm not looking for... control. I'm just... not sure WHAT I'm looking for anymore, you know?"
She sighed softly as she thought about that. It wasn't entirely accurate either, but it was the closest thing she could think of to explain what she was going through. Having never been put in a position like this before, she didn't know what to make of it.
"I don't know what anybody is looking for in me, either. And tonight... tonight was just a mess. I really wish... I hadn't done that. I don't even know WHY I did it, really."
"There was some guy at the big New Years party. I don't know what happened, but people started acting... crazy. It was like they couldn't keep their hands off each other. Women started fighting over guys, and..."
She shuddered, closing her eyes tightly like a child who didn't want to remember. The disgust in her voice was obvious.
"I let him kiss me. Some gross stranger. He was... irresistible. I've never just LET somebody kiss me like that. I've only kissed TWO people other than that... that guy."
Mikeal frowned for a moment before a hint of a smile showed up.
"Well if ya tell me where he is I wouldn't mind... Talking to him and explaining the error of his ways. Let's just say that I've got a few... Life experiences from my father that will help me... Encourage him to never do something like that again and especially not with you."
"Thats good... But too bad I would have liked to pass on some life lessons... But I digress."
He turned to Evelyn. Placing a hand on her shoulder.
"But I understand he took something from you that you won't be able to get back. So my suggestion to you is this: make your next kiss that much more special. Save it for someone that you have no doubts in your heart that you want to give them that opportunity, that gift. Your next kiss. You have to be absolute and completely certain about. Sounds good?"
She knew it was supposed to help her feel better... and maybe it would have, if her mind wasn't so overloaded with other things to think about. She was frowning rather deeply, something he couldn't see, as her mind wandered to who exactly that person would be.
BK? He seemed to want to be there with her, to try and make things work. He was willing to sacrifice a lot to do that.
Eric? She felt such an odd, rare connection with Eric, but how could she be certain that he felt something in return?
It wasn't as if anybody else had really captured her attention. She made a soft noise and then covered her face in her hands again, curling up into a little ball on the couch.
Mikeal heard the distress in her voice and was upset. But tough love time now.
"Well kiddo. That just so happens to be life in general. Nothing is ever easy and if it is, it's not worth your time. So right now instead of feeling down and pitying yourself use this experience to make you stronger. But I tell you what for now don't worry about it I hear you have a movie going on so let's just sit here eat some popcorn and watch some movies together, and tomorrow you can focus on being stronger than you were yesterday. How's that sound?"
He would ask as he got up and made his way to the kitchen to make some popcorn!
