Josh grunted as he hauled the last of several heavy boxes full of his personal belongings down the hall. He'd been moved to Pod 11, hopefully not due to any noise complaints. Normally he was a pretty quiet guy, but one of the things he had taken to in his spare time was trying to support his weight with his shields in order to strengthen his control. When this failed, it tended to make a very... well, large thud.
Josh poked his head in, then propped the door open with his foot as he slouched down to lift the box up again. "Uuuuugh, with your legs, not your back," he admonished himself, scooting in. Finally, he had fully moved in. Now to unpack...
"Oh, haha, hey!" Josh straightened up and presses his knuckles against his back, waving Evie off as the door shut behind him. "Naw, I just got all my stuff inside. All I have to do now is unpack it, and that's just a matter of time. Thanks, though!"
He looked around at the common area. Looked pretty nice, actually. They decorated better than his last pod. "So... you, me, n'... uh..." Josh squinted, his efforts to remember his new living arrangement readily visible on his face. "I forget. Who else?"
"I don't think I've met that guy yet..." Josh wondered aloud, scratching his chin. "Still, I really like what you guys have done with the place! Feels kinda like home."
Joshua beamed. Yeah, this really was feeling like home! Truth be told, he had gotten more than just a little homesick during the moving process. He should really call home sooner or later, maybe even as soon as things got settled.
"That's awesome! Like, you do a movie night, even?" Foregoing the boxes for now, he stepped over to the couch and sat down. Comfy!
When Evie looked back up, she saw his tears and concern crossed her features immediately. It didn't take her long to get over to him and sit next to him on the couch.
"Josh?" she murmured, reaching up to touch his shoulder. "Josh, are you okay?"
Mikeal would come out of his room fully dressed, even still wearing his duster and sunglasses but his hair was obviously wet from getting out of the shower.
Looking in the direction of the new comers a smile would spread across Miks face.
Josh nodded, frantically pulling off his glasses and wiping at his eyes with his sleeve.
"Yeah yeah yeah! I... phew..." He took a deep breath and put them back on, looking away in embarrassment. "That was weird. I've been kinda homesick today and a lot just hit me alluva sudden. I'm fine, honest."
Aaaaaaah crap. Josh picked a fine time to start leaking. Well, at least his face was dry, even if his eyes were still a bit red from him having wiped them in a panic.
"Howdy!" He finally managed to say, his cheeks running a little hot. "Looks like, um, the gang's all here!"
Feeling comforted enough to pull himself from that bluff of embarrassment, Josh took Mikeal's hand and shook it. Firmly, like his father taught him to always do. Then, of course, Evie had to ask the infamous question.
"Oh, well..." Josh remembered that he should at least truck the boxes into his room, and so he pulled himself off the couch.
"As you can, uh, probably see, I've just got a couple boxes. I guess they're kinda heavy, but all the big stuff... that was with the room, so I guess I'm packin' light." Josh hadn't quite noticed Mikeal's 'life hurdle' yet, stooping to pick up the heavier of the two boxes. "Follow me, I guess!"
Then Mikeal would activate his power and tap the floor to figure out where the box was. After picking it up he would deactivate his power and follow in the direction of Josh. He knew the place well enough that he didn't need to have his powers active. However once they made it to Josh's room he would run right into the guy if he hadn't stepped away from the door way!
However if there was no obstruction Mikeal would just turn and set the box on the floor next to the door.
Josh had stepped in a little bit, but not quite far enough to avoid a box thumping his backside. He lurched forward in surprise, doing a little somersault right over the box he had just set down and tumbling onto the floor with a loud crash!
Josh sat up, holding his head and laughing. A genuine laugh, and he wasn't hurt in the slightest so much as startled.
"Yeah! I fell over like a goof. No big deal!" He brushed himself off and stood up, winking to Mikeal. "Some way or another Mikeal didn't see me. It's alright, I'm just like... sneaky!"
