"Arkham? Damn that's like, old school gaming. You'd probably get along with my brother."
Even as she remarks on the game, she'll turn the sphere over in her fingers, examining it. She's not particularly tech-savvy, but she likes to pretend she could look at something and figure out how it works. She'll finally shrug after a couple seconds and chuck it (with fairly pinpoint accuracy) at the tree.
It explodes like a water balloon! Valo laughs, figuring she expected something a little better.
"They're made so no one can steal em from me. Watch."
Valo gets cold enough that the air around him becomes chilly, and he whips the cluster toward the tree. It explodes into a mess of ice around it, immediately hardening as it's exposed to the air.
"I have a couple that work without my power, but they're with Silas, if you know him."
He nods, pulling out the ice gun and freeze gun from the pack, holding each up for her to see.
"This one," he shakes the ice gun. "Fires ice pellets. My body cools the water inside and it acts like a crossbow. But this other bad boy," he grins and holds the freeze gun out to her as well. Should she choose to take it, he'll hold out one hand and cock his head over to it, providing her with a target.
"Well... not on a person before, no - and never with that model."
Valo continues laughing as the ice slowly begins to melt around his hand and he slips it out. The large chunk of ice itself hits the floor with a thud.
"That was actually something I was really needing since I don't have the nads to shoot myself with it. Now I know I can get out of it, and that's neat!"
He's probably more excited than he should be, and it shows on the enormous grin he's wearing.
"You can't hurt a cold guy with a cold gun," he remarks, almost teasingly. Taking the gun back, he sets it in his pocket and flips the safety on.
"Silas? He'd probably think it was a solid way to test the stuff. I dunno, I hardly know the guy."
Valo flashes Zora a grin and folds his arm over his chest. He's almost amused at the attempt, but she clearly doesn't know who Silas is. Clearly.
"Besides, the purpose of the tech is to trap, not harm. So if you hurt me it'd be because my tech sucks. So... my bad, there. Besides, I could have been like, the abominable snowman for all you knew. Live a little, girl."
Valo nods, crossing his arms and waiting intently for Zora to continue. It takes a moment for him to realize she's totally finished her list at one item, and his eyes widen.
"OH! You're done. Like, not continuing at all. Right?"
He laughs, facepalming. Valo May or may not feel like an idiot.
"Okay, well, uh... I can show you anyway, if you'd like. Maybe teach you something if you're bored enough that this is your only alternative."
"And I know Python and C++ and JavaScript and yeah I'm totally fucking with you right now," she laughs. "I mean, I'm not exactly tech-savvy, but I'll try anything once!"
She grins.
"And sure, if having some silly girl following you around while you speak technobabble sounds like a good time to you..."
He smirks, almost feeling more like an idiot, but he dismisses it with a wave of his hand. Valo just laughs and walks to a table, motioning for Zora to come sit with him.
"That sounds awesome in this context, but then if I was a meth dealer I don't think that'd be your particular choice of words."
Bad humor? Maybe, but he could only think of those "Meth, not even once" commercials from back in the day.
"Okay, so those things would have absolutely nothing to do with what goes on in this gun." He pulls it out again and places it on the table, then fiddles around in his bag for a screwdriver. He'd hand it to her, then point to the screws all along the shell.
She shrugs and follows along, taking a seat next to him at the table.
"Oookay, Breaking Bad," she says dismissively, using another hilariously outdated reference. She chuckles a bit, listening as he goes into super-serious explanation mode.
She accepts the screwdriver and starts to work the screws out of their homes.
"I, uh, don't really know C++," she admits at length as she works.
"I just wanted to sound cool."

Joon lets out a whistle. This girl knows her classics.
"Nothing wrong with that. Besides, being able to understand and craft things like this would totally be cooler than learning how to code. At least, I think so." He winks and clicks his tongue as she gets the screws out. Under the shell, she'll see the inside is almost entirely frozen and cooled.
"Okay, this," he points to a radioactive substance encased in a prism near the base of the gun. "Creates, like, this beam thing that apparently attacks nerve clusters. I don't know all of the details, since it's not originally my tech. But, in my model, the beam has to pass through this," he points to an agent just in front of the prism. It's cold, and has the inside of the gun frozen. "And that turns it into a freeze ray."
"Yep. Only thing is, finding a working agent to compliment the beam itself has been tough. The first few I tried blew up in my hand, and the last couple didn't even freeze anything. This one has worked so far, but I've only tested it on a few empty cola cans."
"You had a solid shot with that, by the way, and I don't think freeze rays are standard tech for the average high school," he jests. "Good with a gun?"
