Valo's looking through files on some of the old Paradigm agents his parents told him about. Currently, he is going through the C's, skimming through files on Jimothy Clavish and Aaliyah Cross.
"Oh,the robots? Scary stuff. I'm just looking over people my parents mentioned working alongside, trying to get a feel for what agents are usually like and what they go through."
She'll see the closed Clavish file and one on her mother that's open.
She snags the files and looks through it, trying to put a face to the name.
"Oh yeahhhhh, he was one of those goof-offs she used to go on about. Punk-ass teens who thought being a superpowered soldier was just some kind of game."
She glances back at the boy with a wry grin. "So'd the apple fall far from the tree, or...?"
"Me? I'm not a soldier. Not by any means. All I'm here for is to learn how to control my power, and that's it. What about yourself? Hardass? Something involving glass? Anything like that?"
Valo glances too, but only because she does. He actually looks slightly embarrassed that he followed her gaze, and he shakes his head.
"Fancy," he catches a bit of the sand. "Manipulation, or are you straight-up made of the stuff? Either way I could probably turn you to glass full-on, but... it'd be hard on the both of us."
He grins, taking her hand and shaking it firmly. His grip is warm, but that's the only hint she'd get as to his power so far.
"Valo Davies. So far, seems like it's a pleasure."
She reacts a little oddly to his initial comments. "Turn me to glass? Sounds kinda painful," she grimaces as she returns the firm handshake. "I'm not exactly made of it, but I can turn into it and manipulate myself, at least."
She shrugs, leaning back a bit and looking back over at him.
"Can you feel pain in your sand form? That'd be a downer. I can't like, morph your form, I'd just heat you up and science handles the rest."
He closes the last file and puts the two back where he found them, figuring he got enough info for the moment. He'd need to go through F later, but that can wait.
"Yeah I'm named after one of my dad's bros, or something. What about Zora? Legend of Zelda or what?"
"... We can't be friends if you've never made that reference." He's not serious. Maybe. "Yeah, let's stick to Zora."
As for the pain part, Valo shrugs.
"I mean, we can test it if you want, in a very light manner. Not actually hurting you or anything, I'm not that batshit crazy. Just like a temperature test, if that makes sense?"
She regards his offer for a moment, concern flashing across her features.
"No, I mean, I hear you, but I'll pass. I don't really... feel like doing the dust thing, right now."
She lowers her head a little.
"So dude," she says after a slight pause, lifting her head back and looking over at him. "What do you do to keep from getting crazy bored around here?"
Slightly awkward. Valo looks away for a moment and scratches his head again until she speaks up.
"Depends. I'm not really the super party guy or anything, usually I just sit around and build things all day. Though, I don't figure that's something you'd be super into."
"Nah, like tech. Used to be just computers but now I do little bombs, and guns, and stuff."
Sounds like a huge jump, but Valo just nods like it's not a big change.
"I mean, if you're interested I can show you some stuff. But I recently had someone tell me I'm too much of a tight-ass and need to get out more, so you can take any of my suggestions with a grain of salt. Or, maybe the whole shaker."
The laugh makes Valo laugh as well! He never expects many people to share his interests, or at least humor him.
"Yeah, I got them in my secret lair." He leans in and whispers, grinning. "If, by secret layer, you mean my bag that never leaves my side, anyway."
A small chuckle follows suit as Valo slings his bag over his shoulder and stands. He moves to the door, holding it open for Zora to follow if she chooses.
"If I show you anything in here, I'm bound to get kicked out. You might by association, too, so it's prrrobably a good idea to head outside."
