Rebecca nods, more reluctant to speak about some of the other issues involved. She couldn't be sure on the details, but having grown up with the story all her life, what else was she supposed to believe.
"My parents separated when I was young. I don't remember much of my mom beyond their fighting. A couple of years before I got my power, she ran off with someone else." She shrugs in a half-hearted attempt to brush it off.
"No. I can deal with being alone this Christmas." A dim smile. "But I won't say no to the company, either." As long as it's not half the state going to the same celebration.
"Oh don't don't get your hopes up babe. My family isn't THAT exciting. But I'll see if they are down for me bringing home a stray puppy this year." He said playfully with a wink.
She chucks the pillow at him again when he mentions the word 'stray' and huffs, reminding herself ot keep the mood light. For Eric, at least, it's nto a derogatory term. He's just trying to lighten the mood.
It still sort of stings.
"Well, like you said, better than being alone and staring down the walls or something."
"Shit!" Rebecca half jumps off of the sofa as the hot cocoa dumps down the front of him. Go figure that this is the one time that he isn't on top of things and playing with portals!
"Shit, I'm sorry." She darts towards the bathroom to get some towels and washclothes, running the latter under cool water to help with any burns and stains.
"No it's not!" She doesn't really pay attention to the lack of shirt, offering him a washcloth and towel as she picks up his shirt and tosses it into the sink from her current position.
Her frown says otherwise as she holds out another cool cloth for him since she can't see the damage of the burns with the way he's standing and would probably only make it worse, anyway.
"I seem to remember you getting pretty intimate with a garbage can on said date." She walks to the bathroom and turns on teh cold water to rinse out the shirt she ruined.
